Debbie Schlussel emailed to point out a problem related to this post of mine. The Think Progess headline is indeed misleading - big surprise.
Right Wing Enraged: Laura Bush Is A ‘Butt-Kisser’ For Wearing Headscarf In Mideast
Debbie made the comment regarding a meeting, it had nothing to do with the headscarf.
Here's Laura Bush butt-kissing Saudi King Abdullah (the guy who insisted no women be present on the Waco, Texas airport Tarmac OR in the air traffic control tower, to which the Missus' hubby acquiesced) and Campbell Brown's ex-boyfriend, cold (is there any other kind of Saudi?)Saudi Ambassador Adel Al-Jubeir (center).
As for the headscarf issue, I'll defer to this blog that trackbacked to my post:
If I had not been reading daily Greta's Blog at Gretawire, I would probably be critical myself of our First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush wearing a head scarf. (it was not worn in public) A picture was taken in a private home, after it being presented to her as a gift from women suffering from breast cancer. To my knowledge, that was the only time the scarf was worn.

More clarification from http://www.newser.com/story/10192.html/:
Laura Bush today swept into a country where breast cancer is such a taboo that it is often not prevented, treated, or publicly admitted—a high-profile woman trumpeting a pink-ribbon message where 70% of cases aren’t reported until late stages. Though excellent care exists, many ignore “that disease” for fears ranging from dealing with male doctors to no one wanting to marry a patient’s daughter. • “Her trip will make people ask, ‘Why is she here? Is it that serious in this country?’” said a gynecologist diagnosed with the disease. Bush met with Saudi survivors of the disease who presented her with a black headscarf, decorated with pink ribbons.

Ask Schussel what she feels about this:

I'm shocked that Think Progress reported something inaccurately. Every time I see one of their headlines pop up on memeorandum I get gas pains.
