I've already linked broadly around in a previous post, I'll link again to Michelle here as she has the pdfs. The two items below - one pdf screencap and a Google cached item from TNR is really all that is required to make the case that TNR's Foer has to go.
The screencap is Beauchamp telling TNR he was not being censored. Click to enlarge. He states he spoke to them and was going to speak to other media outlets explicitly to dispel that notion. That took place on July 17. The quote below is from TNR on August 10. Unless TNR is asserting the Drudge pdfs were manufactured out of whole cloth, they can't explain away their accusations and are guilty of a terrible lack in ethics.
It should be noted that Beauchamp himself told TNR he would not be speaking to them again of his own accord.
Indeed, we continue to investigate the anecdotes recounted in the Baghdad Diarist. Unfortunately, our efforts have been severely hampered by the U.S. Army. Although the Army says it has investigated Beauchamp's article and has found it to be false, it has refused our--and others'--requests to share any information or evidence from its investigation. What's more, the Army has rejected our requests to speak to Beauchamp himself, on the grounds that it wants "to protect his privacy."
At the same time the military has stonewalled our efforts to get to the truth, it has leaked damaging information about Beauchamp to conservative bloggers
