South Carolina will drop state charges but that isn't unexpected, or good news for defendants Megahed and Mohamed - out of the frying pan and into the fire. And Homeland Security may have a problem. They screened Mohamed and didn't pick up his previous arrest in Egypt, now apparently confirmed through attorneys. They will likely appear in Federal Court in Charleston this week. Congress wants some background on the case according to another report, which names Mohamed's lawyer as a source for reports Mohamed was arrested in Egypt.
(Megahed attorney) Savage has said he learned from Mohamed's attorney that Mohamed had been arrested in Egypt.
USF spokesman Ken Gullette said the university is unaware of any criminal charges against Mohamed in Egypt. Mohamed came to USF on an F-1 student visa, "which means he was cleared by Homeland Security," Gullette said.
The case is projected to take about six months, so it's unclear when more details will emerge.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — With a federal indictment in place, state charges will be dismissed against two Egyptian-born students who were stopped last month with what authorities said were pipe bombs, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
"I plan to dismiss the charges in favor of federal prosecution," said Scarlett Wilson, state prosecutor for Charleston and Berkeley counties.
Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed, 24, and Youssef Samir Megahed, 21, both students at the University of South Florida in Tampa, were arrested on state charges of possession of an explosive device following an Aug. 5 traffic stop in Goose Creek.

Governments in the West appear to be on a jihad against kids who nowingker will tell us are clearly innocent. Yesterday we learned of innocents arrested in Denmark and Norway. Today the same thing in Germany.
This persecution of a few kids just out to make a little mischief, you know how these mid to late 20s kids are, by these mean-spirited authorities in the U.S., Denmark, Norway, and now Germany have to stop.

One thing we need to keep in mind. There is no terrorist threat. This is merely the invention of El Diablo, that is to say our President, as described by that light of the world, Sr Hugo Chavez.
