You're almost funny in your hateful insanity. Fortunately you "dont believe in guns" or we might have to watch for you in a tower. Actually, I think rush is a tool of the government loving gaggle that you belong to....just a different party. I'm awed by your courage to call people names from the safety of your mom's basement. I wonder if you have the guts to do it face to face or are you really a shrinking violet in the presence of those you secretly fear? Running home to tell your partner how you'd like to tell the boss what an ass he is. Knowing you haven't even the minimal guts to argue your pathetic performance evaluations....."but, but I really was late all those times because I have to change the baby's diapers and take the others to school." I actually "feel" sorry for you charlie. It must be terrible to have to live in fear, to be dependant on the government to protect you while at the same time owning the delusion that you're better than all of those people who break in line in front of you. If only we would get the demonrats back in office, they would rob from the rich and give it to you. They would make sure you got promoted at work rather you barely ever made a full week or not. Sad, sad little man gringing in fear waiting for big brother to wrap his big, protective arms around you.

Wahoo projects his terrible feelings about his failed career onto me. Sorry, wahoo, but not even close. But if you are having these kinds of problems at work, I say, work harder, you little puke. This is capitalism.

And I love the further projection about big brother and protection. The world is laughing at the wingnuts for their authoritarian love of W in his flight suit. That is the point of this whole thread, you fucking dolt.

And seekeronos, 5000, 6000, 10000 years. Who cares? You are either one of the lunatics who believes such nonsense or worse. As I said, even those knuckle dragging fools aren't clinging to the skirts of Daddy W like you are. Is it boring of me to come back seekeronos? Sure, it probably is. But I love laughing at idiots, and this is a target-rich environment.

I'm retired...at 50 in fact. SO much for an unsuccesful career.

You sure seem to have an obsession w/ G and his flight suit. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay.

I'm very glad I could help you with your delusions of grandieur. Please though, promise to get help, (you know it's free through EAP) if you start thinking you're Napoleon or Bat Man. K?

Sweet jesus, no wonder we had to sub out all the actual production work out to the Chinese.

Yes, we have turned into a country of freaking 10 year olds on both sides, able to do nothing but hurl insults and stomp feet.

At this rate, we'll be a second rate power within 30 years.

It wont take that long winger

Speaking of not being gay - Senator and troop-supporter Larry Craig is STILL in the news. The toe-tapping patriot with the wide stance is the gift that keeps on giving.

We salute you Larry! Thank you for your service!

Ya know wingker, you're right (yes, make a journal entry) I am slightly ashamed for allowing myself to be chivvied into exchanging insults with a Lilliputian. He needs badly to feel superior, so I will concede and leave him to insult us mere mortals all he needs until he feels better. Thank-you for injected some adult supervision.

So much emotion, so many insults, so little logic. What was the subject of this thread again? Nevermind, it doesn't matter at this point. Where's the popcorn?

I love the smell of political discourse in the morning. Smells like ... napalm!!

"in your bloodlust, you've completely forgotten about the aid and arms coming from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt"

From WHOM in those countries? And don't say "the country itself" because that would implicate their governments, and you'd be wrong.

"No wonder you all talk tough; you have nothing else."

This poses -- at least to me -- an interesting question. If this nation's "conservatives" talk tough to those outside the nation who have gone out of their way to be belligerent to this nation ["conservative" and "liberal" alike], but only hire folks to take those foreigners on .... then what does it mean when this nation's "liberals" only talk tough to this nation's "conservatives"?

What, exactly, should we read into that?

"We recognize there is a danger, but we also recognize it's far below the risks for car accidents..."

How many times do car accidents and cancer actively conspire to kill us, though?

Hell, the Japanese fleet only killed a fraction of the nation's industrial accident deaths in 1941, a fraction of the rubella deaths, a fraction of the malaria deaths... "Sorry Tojo, but you'll be fighting a one-sided war until we get OSHA on line, and we lick that polio bugaboo..."

Tell me, "jc" do you actually listen to yourself? or are you juts picking words out of a phrasebook at random?

"At this rate, we'll be a second rate power within 30 years."

That long? Never thought of you as an optimist.

"So much emotion, so many insults, so little logic. What was the subject of this thread again?"

You said it yourself: So much emotion, so many insults, so little logic. It's de rigeuer partisan politics, in which it matters more WHO is in charge than what they do once they get there ... because, as everyone knows who's paid attention during their adults lives, they both do about the same things.

Dan weighs in with a comment about napalm, showing how perfectly he represents the wingnut pussies--never been in battle, never would go to a battle in a million years, but boy can he talk tough!

"boy can he talk tough!"

Not unlike the person noting the irony of Dan talking tough.

It's easier to take on the "conservatives" than it is those the "conservatives" are shouting at, idnit?

So ... what were you saying about "pussies", there, guy?

"--- And seekeronos, 5000, 6000, 10000 years. Who cares? You are either one of the lunatics who believes such nonsense or worse. ---"

Thanks, G.Chuckles... for telling me what you think I believe in regarding the cosmology and/or creation of humankind.

Actually ... you couldn't possibly be more wrong.

...

"--- Yes, we have turned into a country of freaking 10 year olds on both sides, able to do nothing but hurl insults and stomp feet.

At this rate, we'll be a second rate power within 30 years. ---"

Actually, we (or rather, the USA as we know it) won't be a power of any rate in about 10 years, if I'm reading the currents correctly.

And I do apologize for my invective against you, G.Chuckles. I can see that wasting my thoughts trying to one-up a fellow who acts like little more than a domesticated house-ape (such as yourself or chris al-Boob) is indeed a waste of precious air.

Es tut mir sehr grosser Leit.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back, but I had a few things to do. Now, back to the liberal retards Charles and Bob.

Charles, does your boss know what you do and say while on company time? Are you another of the little asshole lawyers trolling the interwebs when you should be doing research on a case? I copied the above comment section and forwarded it by 1st Class Mail to the law firm of Moses and Gelso in Wilkes Barre, Pa. If you aren't that Charles, I'm sure they will dispose of it, but if you are, then they should be aware of what you are doing while on company time.

HairyBob, Hahahahaha! You're funny!

Actually, we (or rather, the USA as we know it) won't be a power of any rate in about 10 years, if I'm reading the currents correctly.
------------------------------------------------------------

Nah, it will take longer than that if only because letting the US economy fail will hurt the global economy, which is the only thing at present staving off a recession or possibly a depression. If and when the rest of the world figures out how to move to Euros as the reserve currency, then, we're screwed sooner rather than later.

Our military power and consumer purchasing power and what's left of our edge in science and technology will stave things off for a bit longer, how long is anyone's guess.

We've hollowed out American supremacy in just about every way imaginable, made the economy vulnerable via huge deficit, consumer debt, no savings and by turning old style economics on its head where the capital markets were used to raise money for "real" stuff and instead they now solely determine profit or loss, nevermind the actual assets. We've lowered our standards on everything...why do you think they keep changing the hs and college tests? To hide the fact that education is getting worse not better.

And, I will say again for those of you who live long enough to see this happen, you are going to find out that the predictions on global warming are not overly alarmist but have been overly cautious and in the next 30-50 years you are going to see what your blindness has brought forth for the future.

Poor templar knight, picking the wrong Charles Giacometti from his extensive Google research and wasting a stamp. That 41 cents probably blew your lunch money budget for the whole week. Your mom will be so mad!

Imagine this, templar knight, there might be more than one Charles Giacometti on the Intertubes!

Ya know TK, John Edwards is/was a personal injury attorney fighting for the little guy. Of course, the little guy always seemed to cash his check and throw in a couple of his own bucks for a six pack. Mr "two amerikas" lives in a 28000 square foot mansion on his share while the little guy can barely make his double wide payment. This is why I agree that the rich should be taxed until it hurts, especially those rich who take advantage of the poor to get that way. I also think anyone who lives in a house over 2000 square feet should be taxed at least double the rate for foot. People who contribute NOTHING, like ambulance chasers, actors and atheletes should lose at least 75-80% of anything over 1/2 million. Yes, let's tax the rich!!

Damn wingker, new meds??? Nice speech there. You mentioned nothing about the total moral decline in this sad country though. No one cares about anything or anyone anymore. Our politians, on both sides, don't give a crap about you, me or the poor and no matter who gets elected next year the status quo will remain...maybe worsen. That will be our downfall quicker than broken economies, a lack of any sort of education. I guess someone has to pick the lettuce.

Ah, yes, that may be so, Charles, but there can be only one as stupid as you. As for the 41 cents, that's peanuts to us rich Republicans, and worth the small risk that I might be wrong. But I think you are that particular Charles. We shall see.

OOOOHHHHHHH the BoobinBridgeport sings this song
DooDah DooDaH
I won my medals in a combat zone
Oh da doo dah day
Gwine to p--s all night, gwine to moan all day
You guys all are mean to me
But I will win the day.

OOOOHHHHHHH you are weak but I am strong
DooDah DooDah
I am right but you are wrong
Oh da doo dah day
Gwine to p--s all night , gwine to moan all day
The Army didn't ask and I won't tell
That I'm the Queen of May

OOOOHHHHHHH my legs are loose my pants are tight
DooDah DooDah
My B---s won't swing from left to right
Od da doo dah day
Gwine to p--s all night, gwine to moan all day
You're scared of me and will not fight
This bad old queen of May.

Total moral decline on the right and left goes without saying, no? At this point, I barely care who wins the presidency, the ONLY reason I prefer a Democrat is because they will undo some of the damage Bush has done to environmental regs and they will be somewhat less enamoured of torture and illegal surveillance, but the downside is the Dems are going to spend BILLIONS on crack pot educational schemes that will inevitably fail, rail about the poor, inevitably tinker with the wrong parts of the economy and business...they are only marginally better, if I could find a libertarian minded Republican who cared about the environment I would write him or her a check today, but they don't exist anymore.

The Democratic Congress tells me all I need to know about how serious the Dems are about the status quo, while it is true that their slim majority makes it harder to pass legislation, they have barely tried on anything other than the Iraq war...

Out with a whimper not a bang will go the New American Century.

One of the best ever, Fred! ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far, I can't see anyone on either side that I could hold my nose tight enough to vote for. Too bad we can't find a constitutionalist, true believer to vote for. Someone with a real vision and some damned guts but I fear they died off years ago.

Sorry my little templar pussy, but that is not me. If you used Google better, you would find comments from me on a number of blogs that identify me as living in greater Boston. Feel free to Google to your heart's content and try to send such damaging information to my bosses, wife, minister, chamber of commerce, and local police and fire. I love the thought of a passive-aggressive pussy like you anonymously mailing things to various people around America. It is a perfect corollary to how you would never in a million years serve your country but you would be an anonymous blowhard on blogs pretending to be a hawk.

You're not Wahoo Willie you phony. You just suckered us for a while. You've done it before. Read this socialistic BS:

"I also think anyone who lives in a house over 2000 square feet should be taxed at least double the rate for foot. People who contribute NOTHING, like ambulance chasers, actors and atheletes should lose at least 75-80% of anything over 1/2 million. Yes, let's tax the rich!!"

You are none other than yyynowinkerzifnab the professional propagandist trying to make fools of us simple but honest, not like you, folk. Say you're sorry, you sly dog. If you won't I bet you will be banished to invisible land by my old friend Mr. Beloit

Oh Snarky, (who I've never seen here before) I have gone by other names 'tis true, but the email addy has always been the same or wahoo@yahoo. I am not now, nor have I ever been ziffy or winker or bobinthebasement. What you've quoted is partly a joke, a statement meant to highlight that MOST of the people who claim we should tax the rich are in fact themselves rich. Ever seen some guy standing between his ten year old ford and a double-wide telling you how f'd up america is???? No, it's always some millionaire like Edwards. However, I do think actors, musicians and atheletes are FAR,FAR over paid and should have a big ole chunk taken away to pay for people who actually contribute.

Actually, Charles, I wouldn't take the time to search for your dumb ass comments. You sure do talk tough, boy, on the interwebs. You're just another liberal shit. And I love the thought of you claiming to have a wife, minister, etc. What a lying POS you are. Dismissed, BOY!

Oh Mr. Willie, thank you so much for your reassurances in this matter and please disregard my previous post. I'll phone Mr. Beloit back right away to see if I can calm him down. Thanks again, you may call me Ms, Doucher, if you will.

Fred should know better.......we go way back

"Dan weighs in with a comment" -- Posted by: Charles Giacometti

Watch it, Gee,I'mahomoeddie. The weapons on this battlefield are intelligence, snark and wit and it's obvious you lost that arms race a long time ago.

I really have no idea what the "iamahomoeddie" remark is about. A wingnut snark to suggest I am gay? That worked in fourth grade. As to the arms race notion, forget about it Riehl. This post and other like it make you a laughing stock. Perlstein calls you and other wingnuts like you out for being a whining pussy, and your response is a lame projection of your deepest fears about what you really are--which is a whining pussy.

Jeebus, the nutroots are going to be even more torqued out of shape than usual, as now, even the Democratic presidential candidates are not promising a swift exit from Chimpy's war in Iraq. And the Democratic Congresscritters aren't being cooperative with the nutroots, either.

Oh, woe is me, the 14%s can't figure out why no one is going along with them. Tsk..tsk..how sad. Sad sacks abound in Boston, or so I've heard.

Wahoo, I have a confession to make. At first I did think you were someone like nowingker, who in the past used to show flashes of objectivity. Just when one thought a serious discussion was about to begin out would come the lousy leftist litany of Big Lies and false charges. So I hatched a plan using Ms. Snarky Doucher to have a little fun with.

Unlike several of the leftist cowards who comment here I informed all ahead of time that I would under certain circumstances use a sock puppet named Snarky Doucher. In other words Snarky would be known to be me by the regulars. After my attack on you and your explanation I was still in fun mode so I kept the joke going. I now feel this was wrong. I never intended to use Snarky in an underhanded manner, but found I was doing that in our case. I hope you will accept my apology. Fred/Ms. Doucher

Oh my word Fred, there's no offense to apologize for here. You and I have corresponded many times here and unlike you I've changed my name a few times. Not to be sneaky mind you but because of my attitude at the moment. I can see how it would blind side someone. See, I've got a terminal case of smart ass and will use sarcasm to make a point as I did above. My opinions are always my own though, no talking points from either side and they are based on life experience not what my socialist, sociology professor says is the truth. I've made over fifty trips around the sun and learned a thing or two about real life. Nope, apology not accepted as it is not needed.

"I really have no idea what the "iamahomoeddie" remark is about"

It's about as mature a comment as has been posted here. Good god, can you not see that?

"your response is a lame projection of your deepest fears about what you really are--which is a whining pussy"

Right.

And you don't get the "imahodee-oh-doh-doh" thing?

It's really difficult to tell which "side" is more deeply vested in fourth-grade tactics, here, but the "liberals" are saying the "conservatives" are doing it, and the "conservatives" are saying everyone is.

On this point, the "conservatives" are correct. It's hard to tell what other points there may be.

Ah, well, I concede to your better judgment, rwilymz, and will drop the tactics of insult, even though you must be well aware that there is no reasoning with a member of the Left. They come here to insult and troll, not discuss policy.

If I must, I will then go to Mike Huckebee's campaign site and subject myself to one of his vertical days, and that should be penance enough.

. . and another thing. The surge is working? How many times does Lucy have to pull the football away before you Charlie Browns stop taking her at her word?

Insult away!

The whole point of the fake petraeus/betrayus was to delayus (obligatory bad pun) from a discussion of the accuracy of his testimony. Put me in the he betrayed the American people by telling a load of B.S. camp.

By the way, has anybody heard that Rush said that soldiers who criticize the war are fake soldiers?

Let the outrage begin.

"I ... will drop the tactics of insult"

There's no cause for that. Some insults can be quite clever, and if embedded in an otherwise academic position, simply spices it up.

But this devolved, rather more quickly, into a whole buncha chefs throwing spices at each other; there's no meat behind anything.

"you must be well aware that there is no reasoning with a member of the Left"

That is true with a great many of them, particularly in the area of foreign policy. ...not their long-suit by any stretch.

But then, the opposite could be said about quite a number of those on the other side about several notable social issues over which they're stuck in "desire" mode.

Opinion is great for voting. But discussion of "opinion" that has no intellectual substance to back it is indifferentiable from "Yuh huh!" "Nuh UH!!"

And, sorry lefties, there's little academic substance to the bulk of the criticisms of US foreign policy conducted in the last 7 years. It's essentially the same foreign policy conducted in the prior 8, but with someone else leading it, and that more than anything else it what gripes y'all.

Get over it.

As if conservatives know foreign policy! Shit let's bomb Iran! That will show Them!

Reason with a "Conservative"? I am not sure what they believe other than "dear leader" is right.
What is a conservative principle? Is it anything like a flying magic unicorn?

rwilymz, I think I see what you mean. Clinton spent several years of his presidency bombing other countries, including Iraq numerous times, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia and the Sudan, to mention a few, yet we have certain "brainy" members of the Left complaining about bombing campaigns. I get it now. It just depends on "who" is doing the bombing, as the Left was hardly complaining about Clinton's bombing campaigns.

As for the bombing of Iran, it might be a good idea if it destroys Iran's nuclear capabilities. Israel successfully bombed Iran's nuclear program, perhaps it could be done again. The possibility should not be overlooked, and as France has now joined the "bomb Iran's nuclear program club", it should be much easier to get others on board, if such a thing becomes neccessary.

Is that what you meant, rwilymz?

"As if conservatives know foreign policy"

What do you do with/to a nation/organization which has attacked you, challenged your position, supplied or supported those who have attacked you, or are trying to attack you?

"What is a conservative principle?"

Dunno that there are any, really. That's just a label, which has little practical bearing on reality. Just like "liberal".

"Oh, 'liberal' means someone who wants to change society to be better..."

No, a "liberal" wants to change society to be better FOR THE LIBERAL. And a conservative wants to change society to be better FOR THE CONSERVATIVE.

Politics, n. A battle of self-interests masquerading as a contest of principles.
- A Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

About the only significant difference I have noticed between those who call themselves "liberals" and those who call themselves "conservatives" are that "liberals", when the country is run by "conservatives", want foreign policy to be dominated by "diplomacy" -- where "diplomacy" == making nice with those who want to, have tried to, or have succeeded in shooting at us.

On the other hand, when "liberals" are in charge, the "liberals" don't mind being dogmatic and belligerent to those who shoot at us ... and the "conservatives" tend to support it.

And since I don't recognize who you are, Mr Petulant, I'll just inform you of the same thing I've informed so many others of your puffed up leftiness: it doesn't matter one single whit to me who's in charge. I work in defense and have for nearly 30 years, since Carter. I'm employed either way, and the same things are done by both "sides".

To the degree that you believe there's a fundamental difference in how Democrats would run US foreign policy from the Republicans ... you are a tool and a fool.

Re the "phony soldier lie"

http://mediamatters.org/items/200709270010?f=h_top

Limbaugh: Service members who support U.S. withdrawal are "phony soldiers"

During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers." He made the comment while discussing with a caller a conversation he had with a previous caller, "Mike from Chicago," who said he "used to be military," and "believe[s] that we should pull out of Iraq." Limbaugh told the second caller, whom he identified as "Mike, this one from Olympia, Washington," that "[t]here's a lot" that people who favor U.S. withdrawal "don't understand" and that when asked why the United States should pull out, their only answer is, " 'Well, we just gotta bring the troops home.' ... 'Save the -- keeps the troops safe' or whatever," adding, "[I]t's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people." "Mike" from Olympia replied, "No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh interjected, "The phony soldiers." The caller, who had earlier said, "I am a serving American military, in the Army," agreed, replying, "The phony soldiers."

Maybe Rush was speaking about Jessie McGrath. Does that name ring a bell with anyone? He claimed to be a soldier who had served in Iraq, and had witnessed dozens of murders and atrocities, toured the nation marching in moonbat parades, yet that was the only marching he had ever done, because he had never been in the Army. Or people like Jessie, who claim to be soldiers, but aren't. Or soldiers who claim to commit atrocities, write about those atrocities, yet are caught in a web of lies and deceit. Does Scott Beauchamp ring a bell?

Maybe Rush is referring to creeps like these two. I don't know, I hate to put words into anyone's mouth. j/s

The way I learned it, at its most basic:

"conservative" politics centered around preserving the "status quo", and only allowing for cautious, deliberate and well-reasoned and well-planned stages of changes in public policy.

"liberal" politics was originally centered around the disentangling and "liberation" of the governed from excessive government (I'm going back a LOOONNG ways here, to the days of the "divine right of kings"). in this context, much of what was considered "liberalism" then, is the foundation of much of what today's "conservative" seeks to protect.

"progressive" politics looked toward embracing sweeping changes when certain policies failed to meet the needs of the governed, and were by nature, at direct opposition to those who favoured minor changes, IF needed, of the debated policies. Progressives started appearing in the late 18th century, with lots of radical ideas ranging from expanding certain civil liberties (women's suffrage, the social gospel, worker's right) to full on Marxist Communism. Most early progressives were on the fringe of their times, like the Socialist Eugene V. Debs.

But today...

...the labels carry much more weight and emotive power to set people into a frenzy. The confusion and the profusion of new identities (SOCON, FISCON, PaleoCON, NeoCON, Neo-NeoCon, DEFenseCON/MILCON, and all the various iterations of "progressives" and "liberals" to match and counter the various *CONs turns into a dizzying array of opportunities to reduce an honest debate into so much (as Ross puts it) of a bout of shrill calls of "Uh-huh!" and "Nuh-uh", and "I know you are, but what am I?"...

...yeeps, I'm out of steam for tonight, I just forgot where I was going with this.

G'nite. :)
