Liberal Seahawk Fans Leave Droppings
h/t Don Surber - here's the link to the actual report regarding two Seattle Seahawk players being blasted for giving Bush a signed jersey at an event for a local Republican.
The Seahawks quarterback and fullback gave the 43rd president a No. 43 jersey with his name on it at a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser for Rep. Dave Reichert at the Hyatt.
At the time, Hasselbeck called it a thrill and said it was a win-win, this opportunity to meet the president and get out of a team meeting.
But as soon as he saw the picture of the two players with Bush, Gary Wright, the team's vice president of administration, said he was concerned about negative reaction.
Maybe in really red Republican states, it would not have been a big deal. But Washington is a blue state, and deep, deep Democratic blue in King County. So objections were raised, and Hasselbeck heard them and read them. He got nasty voice mails, e-mails and text messages.
"I had no idea," Hasselbeck said.
One guy told him: "I hate you, I'll never wear your jersey, I'll never like the Seahawks again."
"Huh?" Hasselbeck thought. "Seriously?"
"How dare Hasselbeck declare Bush an honorary Seahawk," wrote one. "Who is Matt speaking for? Bush is no Seahawk. He is the worst president of my lifetime, and I'm almost 60. Shame on you, Matt."
"To learn that two of the most popular Seahawks are strong (Bush) supporters ruins the season for me and my family," wrote another.
And Timothy P. wrote: "Just goes to show you that being a great athlete doesn't make you smart."

Do you recall the good old days when posing with a President was considered prestigious? Ah, the bygone eras of Reagen and Clinton, Carter and Bush the Elder. I can almost remember a time when a President could throw out the first pitch at a baseball game and not get food thrown at him.
But when you've got a man with a 28% approval rating running the nation, and people hate him so much it rubs of on anyone he bumps shoulders with, its usually just safe to blame people in general. Where do football fans from Washington state get off having any opinion on politics anyway?

Yet, these are the people who will idolize Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn for agreeing w/ them politically.
Their affections are totally dependent on political considerations.
So, if the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, they'd rag on the team from taking the call from Pres. Bush in the locker room?

Yeah, freak'n Seahawks fans! Everyone knows you can't watch a Sean Penn movie and still be a reliable athletic supporter.

IslamoLlama, do you think you're being funny? or cute? perhaps pert? or maybe facetious?
People like you are going to make it impossible for a Democrat to govern the next time one is elected, because people on the other side will want payback for what is going on right now, and believe me, you are likely to get it back in spades.
