I know Eric Scheie of Classical Values will be there, as will I, having accepted an invitation from the Media Bloggers Association to blog live from the upcoming Republican debate on PBS. I assume some other bloggers may be there as well. Unfortunately, that can't be said for any of the leading Republican contenders for the nomination.
One by one, the four leading candidates for the Republican nomination for president have announced they will not participate. This is not only a strategic mistake for these campaigns but also a major embarrassment for the Republican Party.
How can voters take seriously a candidate asking for their support to be leader of the free world when that same candidate is unwilling to take questions from black journalists, in front of a predominantly black audience?
While I am not big on pandering to special interest groups, given that this is October and that, perhaps more than any other audience, American Blacks need to hear and come to understand the honest, race neutral conservative, or Right-leaning agenda for America, I'm left to wonder, what are these idiots not attending thinking?
Hopefully some of the second tier candidates attending will have the courage to go into what might be construed as a less than friendly forum and speak clearly and honestly to a Republican agenda of limited government and lower taxes that benefits every American, regardless of the color of their skin.
Unfortunately, given the decision making by the front runners here, perhaps mainstream Republicans today have less in common with race-neutral grass roots conservatives and have morphed into the caricature liberal Democrats never miss a chance to portray. Whether its stupidity, or racism driving their decision-making here, it doesn't matter. Either characteristic would make one unsupportable in my view. Perhaps it's time to give Huckabee a closer look.

"... perhaps more than any other audience, American Blacks need to hear and come to understand the honest, race neutral conservative, or Right-leaning agenda for America, I'm left to wonder, what are these idiots not attending thinking?"
Wow. Score another point for Dan "Really Racist" Reihl.
Why, oh why don't those poor negroid men and women understand that Rush "Magic Negro" Limbaugh only wants the best for them? How can asians and hispanics look at the Party of Michelle "Interment Camp" Malkin, and not flock to the polls?
Ever since those uppity minorities learned to read, all they seem interested in is the Republican voting record (let's see? Hate Crimes Bills: filibustered. Katrina Relief: boondoggled. Federal dollars: vanishing. Education: re-segregated. Tax Cuts: unfelt. Black Republican Senators and Congressmen: virtually non-existent.)
And yet, after all the Republican Party has done for the colored man, the colored man just doesn't seem interested in giving anything back.
I honestly don't know if you're really this racist or just stupid.

Ah yes, the old litany of false charges. The tried and true method to try to garner all of the gullible to your side. But that is just one of many games that two can play.
Why, oh why, do the lefties keep picking at the old sore of racism to ensure it will not heal? Why is it that The National Association for the ADVANCEMENT OF COLORED PEOPLE did not want Clarance Thomas nor Condi Rice nor any of many other highly qualified African Americans to advance to prominent public positions?
How can national Repubs be blamed when local Dems were in charge of a city and state that Katrina hit and bungled the disaster so badly they have still not recovered in spite of billions of federal dollars spent?
Why do so many African Americans support the political party that only cares about them prior to elections? Why don't they see that their best bet for the future is conservatism that is color blind and most interested in providing opportunity rather than welfare?
Isla-moe, I don't know if you are just stupid or a simple-minded racist.

Hold on Fred. Are you saying that 75 years of Democrat rule had something to do with the failures in New Orleans? You mean GW didn't bleed off all that utopia stuff in five years? Come on, we all know that Darth Vader put big ole heaters in the gulf and heated the water so Katrina would land at just the moment the bombs went off in the levies. It had nothing to do with federal money being siphoned off to fund "other" projects. I would like to know how many guys it took to swim away with all those bus keys though.

Well I must admit you got me, Wahoo. The trouble is Bush is an evil genius and bumbling incompetent at the same time. This is why it is SO hard to see how the labials could be wrong about him.

Fred, I guess there would be no reason to continue this blog if the left would just admit their real reason for hating the right. Instead of arguing thier "points", it would be impossible to argue against "becausewehategeorgebushandblamehimforeverythingsince1947" I mean you cannot have lived through the wonderful job (not) that James Whitt did in the Carolinas after Hurricane Floyd with people who think anyone could have done much better after Katrina made a mess the size of Great Britain. You can't argue with people who think a racist would put two blacks, one a woman, fourth in line to the presidency. I mean when one looks at the number of blacks and hispanics in high public office now as opposed to past administrations. You have to wonder about the litmus test used to determine ones heritage. Then, LA times parrots the "Obama isn't black enough" tripe. SO I guess we keep discussing whatever some people without reason use as excuses to tell us how awful this president is. For my country, if for no other reason I hope the Clinton doesn't have to face the kind of crap that Bush has.

Fred, he's a stupid, simple-minded racist. Couldn't have said it better myself. Bravo!

George Foreman for President. Christ I'd vote for him if he were a real conservative. But I guess he's be too white for the labials, Temp. Larry Holmes for VP.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 05:21 PM
Not Foreman, all of his sons are named after him. Holmes on the other hand might be ok. But you have to admit a press conference with Iron Mike would be a hoot!!!!

I suspect no candidate benefits from showing up for these television farces. That would include any for Blacks or Hispanics or for Fox or PBS. And so on down the line.
It doesn't take guts to show up. It takes guts to say you won't. Bravo for all those who decline to kowtow to those pretentous jerks.

ROFL your own darling candidates don't even care about you wingnuts. Look at how far you've fallen since your glory days of 9/11. O! You must pine for another massacre of americans to make your crazed and violent ideas palatable again.

Your a genuine sickie, LOL. See a doctor immediately.

Louise, you must perfect your dictation skills. You spelled you're incorrectly.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 10:32 AM
Regardless of the spelling, Fred, your point was well taken.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 10:50 AM
See, Temp, these voices in my head say these homophones, like there, they're, and their; my hands type whatever version they feel like without regard to meaning. What can I do but make out I have an incompetent secretary?.......I'll tell you what I can do. Proofread my own stuff more carefully, that's what.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 12:04 PM
BTW, LOL and Temp, Burns has done it again. Have you watched any of the WWII episodes? I saw the first three. He has turned the history of WWII into the biography of Daniel Inouye. What do you think of that?

BTW Fred, I don't have cable TV. I dont spend my whole life planted on the couch or behind my keyboard, I go out into the world. I know you're scared of it, but you should try it sometimes, actual things of consequence occur out there
Posted by: LOL | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 01:05 PM
Tell me, LOL, how did you get to be such an amazing person? Were you just lucky and were born this way (Fred stands on his hands to illustrate) or did you pull yourself up by your boot straps (Fred pulls himself up to the ceiling by his shoe laces)? And is it at night you mostly go out "into the world" or daytime?
I've really got to hand it to you (Fred puts on surgical glove, picks up soggy, reused c----m, and extends hand in direction of computer screen).
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 02:40 PM
"BTW Fred, I don't have cable TV." You must be offering this must be evidence of your amazing achievements. Congratulations on this, and also of course on your other achievement...going out "into the world." What a guy.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 02:46 PM
Say Temp, you sluggard, I bet you HAVE cable TV and never go out "into the world". Don't you have any ambition?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 02:52 PM
Fred, I do have cable, but I rarely find anything worth watching, including the latest Ken Burns offering. I didn't figure it would be very interesting to anyone other than a liberal. I try to dodge that drivel.
As for getting out into the World, well, I can't help it. When I walk out the back door, the World is right out there in front of me. My nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away, and that's how I like it.
As a matter of fact, I've got to go back out into the World and continue my work on three new deer stands I'm getting ready to place. Feeders have to be filled, fences don't repair themselves, and cows have to be fed, even though I'm gradually getting out of the cattle business. I only have 12 left.
