While there's no specific threat, intelligence experts are comparing portions of a recently released Bin Laden video with one released in 2004 before attacks in Europe. While Westerners might not quite get it, Bin Laden's radical version of Islam requires certain things be addressed prior to any attack. Allah has the full video and additional links here.
The latest video "contains phrases ... which serve as indicators that OBL's message is part of Al-Qaeda's efforts to fulfill its requirements to provide warning and a chance for the enemy to change its ways before executing an attack," Venzke said.
The language, saying peace will befall "he who follows the guidance," mirrors that used in bin Laden's "European truce offer" of April 2004 in which he said: "Peace upon those who followed the right path."
The similarity in terms is important because the 2004 message appealing to Europeans to change their ways was the final message aimed specifically at Europeans before the July 2005 bombings in London which killed 52 people, said Venzke of the Virginia-based Intel Center.

OSAMA'S PETRAEUS OFFENSIVE
bin laden's message is obviously aimed at his anti-liberation, lose at any cost, allies in the Democratic party in advance of Petraeus' testimony before Congress. Unfortunately for the party of defeat, the repetition of Democratic talkng points by America's most wanted enemy is so compelling it will have the same backfiring effect as his pro Kerry ad before the 04 election.
This desperate video is yet more evidence that the Surge is working.

I strongly believe that this latest video is tied to planned attacks. I believe the arrests in Europe this past week are at least a part of this picture. I believe it will be big. I sincerely hope I am wrong.
Maybe those who believe bin Laden is a tired, washed up propogandist who has outlived his revelence are right.
But I believe we underestimate him and the jihadis at our own peril.

For all of Bin Laden's past speeches and fatwas, Bookyards has them in its library at http://www.bookyards.com/search_results.html?author_id=3720&type=books

America needs a LEADER and THINKER like Fred Thompson to deal with the evil-doer. He has opinions on all kinds of things.

Clues in a bin Laden video? Nothing as subtle as "bin Laden determined to strike in US" I hope or it might get missed.

This is from Captain's Quarters:
" According to surveillance details published in Der Spiegel magazine, the men had been given a two-week deadline for their planned strikes in a late August call from northern Pakistan that was monitored by German police.
Congress set a deadline on September 15th as well -- the due date for a progress report on the Iraq War from President Bush."
Two points if I may: (1) We all can see that bin Laden's goals are the same as those of the Democratics. Just note that the terrorists in Germany were caught because of a phone tap. That is why nowingker and the BoobinBridgeport, along with most the rest of the Democratics, want to stop phone taps. Phone taps interfere with their like-minded friend bin Laden's plans. (2) Note that the Democratics, including even their favorite cartoon Opus, are attacking Petraeus every day. This is to try to Make the Bush/Petraeus report look bad as well. The date of the foiled attack had to come before 9/15 to help with this effort.
I am NOT saying there is communication and coordination between al qaeda and the "progressives. It is just that they have many of the same goals, except, of course concerning taxes.

IMAO blog has a great short piece with some good comments concerning the bin Laden video, which they jokingly say was cooked up by Carl Rove.

Spartan, you don't mean the very specific December 1998 PDB that named Sheik Rahman, Mustafa Atef and Seif Al Adel, along with Khalid Sheik Mohammed; the
last of which had been hiding in plain sight in Doha, Quatar as late as 1997.
Or the very general Aug. 6, 2001; which listed none of the data about the 70
investigations; no flags on Al Hamzi & Al Midhar(Heck of a job; Jamie)Hani
Hanjour out in Arizona (The interceptions of Mohammed Manea Al Quahtani the
20th hijacker, and Zacarias Moussaoui, later identified as a member of the Khattab islamist network in Chechnya wouldn't happen for another two weeks.
