A gun in every household, and a bug on every phoneline! Freedom! Liberty!

Time and again it has been proven that gun control laws have been ineffective in reducing the number or type of guns possessed by criminals, and ineffective in reducing violent crime.

it's also been proven repeatedly that no nation can tax itself to prosperity or greatness, m.blonde. yet liberals still keep trying. just as with gun control, the liberals/socialists/statists aren't really interested in the *results*.

all they want is more power. more control over you. they're doing a pretty good job, BTW: joe sixpapck now pays more in taxes than a medieval serf. it's illegal to videotape the cops. it's illegal to "lie to a federal agent", and *they* get to define "lie". pointing out crime statistics as measured by race is now shouted down as a 'hate crime'. shoot, there are so many laws nowdays that it's rather like the old USSR - 'a citizen cannot cross gorky street without breaking at least 8 ordinances'.

free men carry guns. free men tell cops to take a hike. ergo, the liberal statists are against freedom. if the cost of that is only 'crime goes up', that's a bill they'll be happy to have us pay for them. gotta break some eggs to make an omelet!

bob,
I feel for Joe sixpack. I want to go back to what Ronnie Reagan called the good old days. When corporations paid > 40% of this nations tax base, and the rich put in the majority of the rest.
How about it? try bringing that up to your vaunted GOP, and let's see what they have to say.
Clue: They are against it. It doesn't help their constituents (the rich and corporations).

As for gun control. I'm the liberal who is against it.
You know the saying: When you outlaw guns, only outlaws (the police and government--who have shown time and again they can not be trusted) will have them.

I'm all for gun control.... as in getting a very tight group (under 1" spread) from over 100yds range with a mini-14. Or ventilating an armed mugger at 15 feet or more with a Glock-21 with two shots or less, before he ventilates you.

(and that's a mini-14 with iron sights only. Man, that thing gives me fits!)

Now my AR-15, or my .270 or 30.06 M1 Garand, those are a different story. :)

Armed mugger? You patriots are afraid of your own shadows! Better have the gun ready for when the A-rabs attack the trailer parks too. Because you KNOW and the A-rabs know that America would collapse without the trailer parks!

Ol' StamfordChrisBoobs doesn't have to worry about guns or anything like that. He lives all nice and sequestered away inside his gated community McMansion, and will be nice and safe until the Khalifah's men come to get him to pay his annual Jizzya tax.

You had better fear the police, Boob, if you are ever tempted to commit a crime, and rabid dogs and extreme Leftists and Islamists. Fear is a useful emotion at times. Just as misplaced sentimentality is a useless one. The feeling of complete security, safety, and invincibility can also be dangerous at times. If you are against any and all fear, I fear for you.

Say, Bigot Boob, which do you prefer .233 0r 308 Win? I'm leaning to 308 myself.

Here I go again. .223. I need a proof reader.

"When corporations paid > 40% of this nations tax base, and the rich put in the majority of the rest."

So, so blind ... those taxes were rolled into their prices, robert.

So YOU and I were paying that > 40%. We were being played for fools.

(That deception can't happen with the Fair Tax, BTW.)

But the second part of your statement is true ... tragically so.

When 50% of the people only pay 4% of the taxes, they have no incentive to control the size and scope of government ... especially when they share your apparent class envy, and that envy is fed by the political animals in both parties.

Another reason we need the Fair Tax ... for even though, with the prebate provisions, those in lower economic strata pay less (or even no) federal tax ... they are still reminded of what their government costs, every time they go to the store.

"do you prefer .233 0r 308 Win"

I like the .223, personally. And don't forget the 12-gauge. I like my Mossberg 500 :)

it's not considered polite to say so among folks who know guns, but the marketplace knows best. what is the most popular and (easily) the most reliable rifle on the planet? the one our boys in the sandbox pick up for use when one single grain of sand or one drop of water gets into their m-16's and jams them up all to hell?

i like lots of rifles/cartridges. but if i've only got time to grab *one*, it'll be the 7.62 X 39; and the AK that shoots them with no jams or misfires ever. they're the toyota of rifles: all they do is work perfectly every time.
