All I could think after reading the quote below from Armed Services Committee member Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Calif.) via the WaPo , was how terrifically sad it is that such a person serves on said committee at all. She could have used many words - intensely, incredibly, immensely, etc. But she didn't. She chose desperately and without going through the various definitions of the word, if you believe that language is an important indicator of the way we view and think about the world, you're all but forced to conclude she and her liberal colleagues like Speaker Pelosi don't genuinely support the troops at all. They are simply desperate to appear supportive because of their fear of having their genuine sentiments exposed.
GOP leaders have latched on to positive comments from Democrats -- often out of context -- to portray the congressional majority as splintering. Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Calif.), an Armed Services Committee member who is close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), said many of her colleagues learned a hard lesson from the Republican campaign.
"I don't know of anybody who isn't desperately supportive of the military," she said. "People want to say positive things. But it's difficult to say positive things in this environment and not have some snarky apologist for the White House turn it into some clipped phraseology that looks like support for the president's policies."
The troops aren't even really all that important to Tauscher. She can't separate them out from her myopic and liberal political world view that must oppose Bush simply to oppose Bush. It's sad that such a person would even have a place on something called the Armed Services Committee. She sounds better suited for a sort of Polit Bureau, instead.

Representative Snarky Doucher. Now there is a political name one could get behind. It would also make a great blog name. If I ever start my own blog, that is what I'll call it. Either that or Islamollama. My blog would feature desperately interesting stuff.

"I would be desperately fascinating." No you wouldn't. No one finds you fascinating in the least.
On the other hand, F, my fellow American, fascinates me very much.

(I'm going with the simple, subtle nuance, f. I hope you like it. :}

Have a confession to make. I desperately resorted to the sock puppet technique used by some of the Lefties. snarkydoucher and Islamopanda c'est mois. But I promise I won't do it again...much. In the meantime may I wish you a desperately Merry Christmas, P, my fellow American.
Was a little warm here yesterday. Car therm started at 105 and after driving a ways settled at 98. Hope it's a little cooler in VA. Am definitely going to try to be more desperate in my feelings from now on. Dan is really onto something with this post.

Hahaha. Here is another desperado. This is by The New Republic's Jonathan Chait in an attack on William Kristol.
"I shouldn't need to say this, but apparently I do: I strongly support and respect the troops and would desperately like them to succeed."
He says he would DESPERATELY like the troops to beat the crap out of our enemies in Iraq and the Afghan. I would desperately like, or I desperately would like, or I would like desperately, to believe him, but of course I don't.

"Desperates Waitin' on a Train". Isn't that by the Eagles? One desperately hot album. I used it for a movie soundtrack I made back when I desperately gave a brief thought to making movies.

I was just reading an op/ed by Snarky Doucher, Congressperson from Oxnard, CA. Ms Doucher (do you happen to know, P, whether her name is pronounced dushay? I rather think it is dusher) was decrying the desperately naive efforts of global warming deniers to deny global warming. She said she is planning desperate legislation to "hush them right the f--- up".
