It would appear to be past the time of concern, but the currently reported threat of a potential dirty bomb in NYC's financial district on Friday, now officially acknowledged here: Reuters has it as well.
The New York Police Department released the following statement:
"While the threat remains unverified, our counterterrorism posture, which is reconfigured daily based on intelligence from around the world, has been modified to include increased deployment of radiological sensors, including vehicle, marine and helicopter-mounted, as well as those carried by NYPD personnel."
... appears to have something to do with a Debka warning I, and I'm sure others, saw late last night, or earlier today, one that has also been making its way around the blogs.
The threat was picked up by DEBKAfile’s monitors from a rush of electronic chatter on al Qaeda sites Thursday, Aug. 8.
The al Qaeda communications accuse the Americans of the grave error of failing to take seriously the videotape released by the American al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gaddahn last week. “They will soon realize their mistake when American cities are hit by quality operations,” said one message.
Another said the attacks would be carried out “by means of trucks loaded with radio-active material against America’s biggest city and financial nerve center.”
A third message mentioned New York, Los Angeles and Miami as targets. It drew the answer: “The attack, with Allah’s help, will cause an economic meltdown, many dead, and a financial crisis on a scale that compels the United States to pull its military forces out of many parts of the world, including Iraq, for lack of any other way of cutting down costs.”

Makes you wonder if the Goose Creek muzzies might have been involved in this. Coming from Florida heading North with a pipe bomb.

I don't think the two are (directly) related ... except that there's clearly chatter and continually ongoing threats against the homeland - good research re DEBKA; they've never proven that reliable IMO but in this case they're just the messenger.

They are saying it's going to be bio terror instead of a dirty nuke.

"They are saying it's going to be bio terror instead of a dirty nuke."
Could you please clarify. Who is "they"? Source?
Thanks!
