Andrew Sullivan doesn't seem much interested in allowing reasonableness to keep him from being the fool that rushes in these days:
I suppose it is worth noting that Sam Brownback's recitation of the "All for Jesus" line is a quote from Mother Teresa that he apparently deploys in his stump speech regularly. It isn't his original formulation but he uses it to describe his political motivation. It is the core of his political message. In a religious context, it is a vulgar but completely legitimate expression of faith. In a political context in a secular society, it is a toxin that will eventually corrode civil discourse into sectarian warfare. Which is, of course, what the Christianists want. They have the biggest sect, after all.
Ryan Sager responds to some criticism:
Having given it a bit more thought, I think Byron York is right. I should have been clear that Sam Brownback was quoting what Mother Teresa said to him when he said at the Iowa Straw Poll, "All for Jesus. All for Jesus. All for Jesus. All for Jesus."
Bryan at HotAir has a full discussion of Sager's reporting from Iowa. Sager was directly responding to this via NRO:
Ryan Sager opts for his interpretation of events over accuracy in defense of his quotation from Sam Brownback's speech at the Iowa straw poll:

I bet ole' atheist Andy Sullivan must have recoiled in horror when he heard Ronald Reagan (may he rest in peace) give his "evil empire" speech back in the day.
I listened to it again recently, and it is interesting to hear the Gipper refer to our Blessed Lord and Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, no less than four times in that speech.

"In a religious context, it is a vulgar but completely legitimate expression of faith."
That about sums up the far left wing vicious Christian haters like Sullivan and Chris.

"In a political context in a secular society, it is a toxin that will eventually corrode civil discourse into sectarian warfare. Which is, of course, what the Christianists want.
Merciful. God.
Sullivan preaches some gospel of civil discourse while flatly stating in the very. Next. Sentence that a goodly number of his fellow citizens are pimping for civil war.
The man is absolutely death on IronyMeters these days. I'd call him an idiot, but that's not fair to our Moron-American community.

Which reminds me.....Andrew, what happened to the $200K that you garnered from your pledge-drives (right before bolting for vacation)? We all know it costs no more than a grand a year to run a site such as what yours was.
Are you forever going to dodge that question? We know you're reading, dear.

It is no surprise that he has a rabid hatred for the Christian roots of this nation, and much more so for God Himself - they know their sin, and are unwilling to repent of it to receive forgiveness.
