No World War Here, Folks! Move Along!
I don't know how widespread this group is - but it's still troubling.
More than 70,000 members of a hardline Muslim group held a rally in Indonesia that heard calls for a caliphate -- or Islamic rule -- to govern the world.
The supporters of the Hizbut Tahrir group filled up most of an 80,000-seat sports stadium in the capital Jakarta, waving flags as they heard fiery speeches saying it was "time for the caliphate to reign."
The meeting was held as part of "civic education" for Indonesian Muslims, said Muhammad Ismail Yusanto, a spokesman for Hizbut Tahrir.
You can find out more here via Gateway Pundit - who also has this video below. It's said it isn't an "official" video for the conference, but watching it, you'll get an unmistakable feel - assuming you know anything about WWII and Nazi Germany.

Of course, this is not important enough to be noticed by the MSM, as it concerns terrorism and other "bumper sticker" issues, not urgent items like Anthropogenic GW, which will destroy the world next week or next month at the latest.
No threat from terrorist bomb threats, as those won't happen in the USA! Maybe England, Spain & a couple near-misses in Germany, but no WTC repeat. It's a bumper sticker issue.

Precisely, Dan. The production values of the intro to the Khilafah Conference video reminds me of the intro to Triumph of the Will, Leni Riefenstahl's propaganda homage to the 1934 Nazi Party rally at Nuremberg.

The similar use of key iconography is chilling.

Right on, gentlemen. However, part of the MSM is finally acknowledging the obvious:

Was hoping you would show up Mr cristamfordmum. Enjoy the USA Today story?

I can barely contain my pride. I suggest another flight-suit costume photo op and carrier landing immediately! Imagine the joy and pride when Baghdad is actually under control in 2014!!!
Sadly, the real war on terror isn't going quite so well.

Let us all be thankful that Iraq will never attack America again!!!

remember this story when the Media starts on another long story about "moderate" Indonesia. Right...

chris ... if Iraq isn't a major theater in the GWOT, then why did the enemy (those that weren't there already, like AQ affiliate Ansar al-Islam) send so many of their forces there?
Call me when the Taliban are running Afghanistan again ... just leave a message, for I can't wait FOREVER!

of course, Al-BoobInStamford endorses the Marxist pile of fish wrapping called the NY Times... they both have a vested interest in seeing America defeated and tossed into the dustbin of history for the sake of the Glorious Khilafah (califate).

Why is the 'enemy' in Iraq? Because US troops are there and easy targets. If you assclowns decided to invade another 3rd world powerhouse and get bogged down there (shocking, i know) Al Qaeda in [Guatemala, Cameroon, Bolivia etc.] would spring up. Amazing, I know.

Ah, the distraction within the distraction.
AQ can operate because there is chaos, not because there is some magical sense of solidarity amongst Iraqis. And how! The Shiites (backed by Iran) won't cotton much to AQ either, as it would challenge their power base (not to mention largely being doctrinally incompatible w/ Shiite Islam).
AQ's message reaches a minority fraction of Iraqis, and the strife there is much more dedicated to violence between Shiite on Sunni and even various Shiite factions amongst themselves.
Of course, AQ will preach up a solidarity where it has opportunity, but more likely, it will use the disorder in Iraq to operate as noise in the radar among so many other things going on. If it were in Saudi Arabia, they would stick out as a nail for the Saudi gov't to hammer down, as allowing AQ to operate would disrupt the flow of oil (thus keeping the numerous Saudi quasi-royals fat, dumb, and happy).
They already have a difficult time of it in A'stan and P'stan, and Wahabbism/Salafism (currently) doesn't hold Indonesia (the next biggest hub of Islam outside of the M.E.) as it does in Mesopotamia.
As for other nations, I think we (the US gov't) will probably continue to leave the problems of the Fur and Sudan and Somalia alone for them to solve by way of them reducing each others' population... as their is not so much oil there to recover.
South America continues its shift to the left, but we will see how far Chavez goes in his attempts to create a statist worker's paradise in the mold of Castro. If the oil gets squeezed to hard, or he starts planting nuke missiles from China or Russia or proxied by either of them thru Iran, we might need to consider our actions there sometime down the road. For now though, Chavez is a small fish in a big pond.

Mr christamfordmum is very disappointed the war is going so well. He is fully behind our enemies defeating us there, and it is becoming obvious even to this poor soul that his side is not winning. Guess we need to give him a little personal space to grieve, poor sod.

I'm still waiting for our Muslim "moderates" to hold one of their own demonstrations against this kind of "extremism". It doesn't have to be 70,000. Maybe just 10,000. 5,000? 1,000? 500? It's at least gotta be in the planning stages. Right?

"the war is going so well"
4 1/2 years and Baghdad still isn't secure. You patriots never disappoint! Hahaha!!!
Posted by: chris | Monday, August 13, 2007 at 03:50 PM
There, there, Mr christamfordmum, you'll probably have another chance to cheer for our enemies. They certainly seem to be starting up like cobras in many locations. A lot of work yet to do.

I'm curious:
1). Exactly to whom are you referring as "you assclowns"?
2.) Are you suggesting that Al Qaeda exists only in those countries which have been "invaded" by the U.S.?

It's nice to know that the liberal's good war now needs some attention. I just know our resident liberals are at this very moment lining up to volunteer to fight in Afghanistan, where they are now needed. And if they aren't, then they are nothing but a bunch of, in their own words......chickenhawks. And have no right to comment on any blogs. I'm sure chrissy is first in line. Hahaha! In reality he would wet his panties if he even saw a Taliban. Haha
chrissy, you are one funny gay guy! Keep it up.

Mr christamfordmum, I went to a doctor and told him I had a ringing in my ears. He said, "Well answer it." Bop, kaboom bap.

Mensa, Mr christamfordmum (aka chris, Bobinstamford, et al) is the Henny Youngman of the New Left. He's a cuddly sort of furry bear who writes one-liners for our amusement. I personally am more disgusted than amused in most cases, however.

"Exactly to whom are you referring as "you assclowns"?"
Anyone who is so intellectually insecure as to refer to themself as a mensa member is awarded assclown status.
mensablonde - hahahaha!!

Speaking of gay guys - you heroes lost a true Log Cabin Patriot this weekend. RIP Merv.
Oh, and the last time I checked, you don't enlist and get to pick where you go. You 'necks watch too much tv.

You must have read one of my comments concerning 1st Lt Wannanotbe, Mr christamfordmum. He is the Army officer who refused to go to Iraq and who will, I truly hope, soon be tried and sent to Leavenworth.

chrissy checked his panties, and they are already wet, for two reasons. He mentioned a gay guy, and he thought about having to fight the Taliban. You're the real hero, chrissy. What a gir...uh...gu...uh, what a....just exactly what are you, chrissy? Hahaha!

Hmmm. I ask for clarification on two points regarding your post. You respond with a personal attack. I would assume that if you were able to back up your statements with facts or an indication of rational thought, you would do so.
You failed to answer my questions, but you have done me a favor. You have demonstrated that I need not take your posts seriously.

Mr christamfordmum does favors like this all the time. It is just as well he did it without any delay in your case. No sense in entertaining false hopes for a serious, objective discussion with him. He is basically a one-liner comic in my opinion. And a hostile one at that, eh?

Fred,
agreed :)

chris ... if we are in a nation that does not matter to them, prudence dictates that AQ concentrate their forces in the nations that ARE important to them, especially while we are not there in force to oppose them.
Yet they poured a lot of their resources into the nation they have stated is now the "central front" of the war ... Iraq.
So, either they are incompetent at jihad, or Iraq is important to them ... and therefore worth our efforts there to deny it to them.
I'm not betting on their incompetence ... for they have shown that they have more sense, albeit mixed in with their treacherous minds, than you have.
