There are pages and pages of some pretty cool pics, inside and out, if you like that sort of thing, I do. But I find it impossible to believe the state of West Virginia can't think of at least one absolutely perfect use for an historic Civil War Era Gothic Revival building once called The Lunatic Asylum.
The Robert C Byrd Retirement Home, anyone? Hell, I'm not even a resident and I'd pony up a few extra bucks in taxes just to make that one happen.
WESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The massive Gothic Revival building once christened The Lunatic Asylum West of the Alleghenies has stood largely silent since 1994 - more than 242,000 square feet of space now inhabited by rodents and a security guard.
The imposing Weston State Hospital is a national historic landmark - construction started before the Civil War - and one of the world's largest hand-cut sandstone structures, sitting on nearly 307 acres surrounded by wooded hills.

Probably the ONLY public edifice in WV that is unlikely to ever wear his name.

Kinda creepy, especially seeing how it is fallen into a state of disrepair.
