Not from Allah - but Moran getting a half-pass on his most recent bullshit because he cares about victory in Iraq. Read below, according to him, he doesn't - we lost in his view.
Update: If you missed the flame war I linked in the headlines between Rick Moran and Ace, now’s your chance. Moran’s argument is reminiscent of (but distinct from) the nonsense Boehlert floated last year during Jamilgate and which Yglesias dusted off a week or two ago for this story — namely, that because worse things have happened in Iraq, it doesn’t really matter whether Beauchamp’s telling the truth. The parallel’s close enough that it’s worth quoting what I wrote in December:
Substitute Beauchamp’s piece for Jamil and TNR for the AP and we have a match. Moran isn’t going as far as Boehlert and Yglesias — he clearly thinks it matters if the story’s true or false, he just doesn’t think it matters as much as victory in Iraq. Which happens to be correct, undisputed, and beside the point.
He's the Harry Reid of the Right blogosphere. See here when he was calling for a board of inquiry and praising the Weekly Standard re Scott Beauchamp.
(For an excellent look at all the questions raised by bloggers about these stories, see this post by Michael Goldfarb and then go back to “Main” and start scrolling. He has 8-10 entries on the matter.)
The reality is, he chased that puppy like many others, but as he never got off his ass and did anything but opine, it never caught on. So now he's doing an attention grabbing pivot, just as he did on the war he supposedly now cares about winning, again. See, because here's where I parted company with Moran and his insufferable hand wringing and boorish prose. You know, when he suggested altering the mission with a "token withdrawal."
You may note that I have avoided the term “victory” when redefining the mission. Since I believe our original mission has already failed, trying to define “victory” would be an exercise in futility. Better to describe the mission as “staving off disaster.” That would be accurate.

"Victory" - ha. Good luck with that!

When the occasional lone wing-nut attempts to secure at least a fleeting grasp on reality, he gets trashed. This really is a psycho movement, with the typical pathologies of a movement in its last throes.
Moran raised an honest point. I dont think he intended for it to illustrate the weak point in the winger argument, but the other wingers must surely have sensed it.
The great meta-theme of the RW coverage was how this incident stands as an example of some supposed left-wing conspiracy to denigrate the troops.
But of course, TNR was a rabid war-supporter, and still stands way outside the liberal mainstream in their continuing support of the surge.
Plus, of course, we do have these stories of soldiers being convicted, in a military court, of rape and murder. Where has the left been on this story? Can anyone point to even one single post or article that points to these crimes as symptomatic of how our military operates? No you cant.
So we are supposed to believe that the vast left-wing conspiracy is drooling over the story of a soldier making fun of an injured woman, but apparently they dont see any milage to be gained by pointing at a rapist and murderer.
The right-wing blog world is a sight to behold. A group of people who have absolutely lost their minds, a seething rage-filled mass of people who correctly sense that power and influence for their ideology, and the party that advanced their causes, is slipping away, most likely lost for a very long time. All the people they have invested so heavily in demonizing and ridiculing are the very people who are winning the debate, and who will be influencing the debate from here on out.
They are reduced to these minor stories that they try their very best to milk for all they are worth, in an effort to turn Americans against each other, to get us all to hate and despise our fellow citizens. Meanwhile, the grownups are discussing the real issues of the day - how to clean up the mess of the past 7 years, how to devise real policies addressing real issues that face this country.
RW blogworld seems intent on making themselves irrelevant to the real concerns of Americans. I guess thats something we should be grateful for.

another thing to be grateful to the RW blogosphere for is the way they keep nailing the lies of the liberal MSM. dan rather and his typeface debacle; fauxphotography; "army ranger" jessie mcbeath; the "haditha massacre"; and so many more.
and now the latest lying asswipe nailed to the door, scott beauchamp.
while the leftwing morons - all of whom whooped and hollered when the above 'scandals' were trotted out, only to mysteriously forget them once they were shown to be lies - have contributed exactly ... *nothing* to the debate. (well, except for circular logic, namecalling, and the usual liberal lies & bullshit).
so which side is it that's "irrelevant to the concerns of real americans" again? the leftwing clowns who trot out the childish, obvious lies, or the rightwing guys who expose/debunk them? hmmm?

well thats an easy one rageboy,
The concerns of "real Americans" are not centered around whether or not a soldier admits, falsely or truthfully, to making fun of an injured woman. Nor are they concerned with how much a presidential candidate spends for his haircuts. They are interested in whether or not their children will die refereeing a civil war while al-Q is getting stronger. How much their children will be burdened by the debt accumulated by this administration that has squandered hundreds of billions of dollars on this war while giving tax breaks to their rich buddies. Or how they would survive any catasrophic injry or illness without health insurance. Or whether they will be uninsurable if they ever leave their job, or their job leaves them. The list goes on. None of these concerns are of any interest to the right-wingers though.
"...while the leftwing morons...have contributed exactly ... *nothing* to the debate"
Exactly. We are debating real issues, while you children play in the sandbox.

You're debating real issues, JoeCitizen ... sounds more like regurgitating the same ol' Leftist talking points in support of policies that have been PROVEN failures.
"They are interested in whether or not their children will die refereeing a civil war while al-Q is getting stronger."
Like in Anbar and Diyalah, where the citizens are turning on AQ big time?
Like in Waziristan, where the only attacks reaching the USA are on video tape ... and OBL is reduced to carrier pigeons and tin cans with string for command and control?
BTW, this is not a full-blown civil war, friend:
http://casebolt.blogspot.com/2007/04/mining-model.html
And, let's not forget that Iraq became what it is, in large part, because of the decades of INACTION advocated by people like you -- instead of direct, timely, resolute, and decisive confrontation.
"How much their children will be burdened by the debt accumulated by this administration that has squandered hundreds of billions of dollars on this war while giving tax breaks to their rich buddies."
As opposed to the $250 billion in compliance costs we pay every year as a nation, just to prove to the government we didn't cheat our taxes? Support the Fair Tax if you are concerned about the money.
As for that debt? The defecit as a percentage of GDP is lower than ever ... and those tax breaks actually lead to MORE revenues for our government, because these guys invest that money in more than just booze and lottery tickets.
"Or how they would survive any catasrophic injry or illness without health insurance. Or whether they will be uninsurable if they ever leave their job, or their job leaves them."
As opposed to whether they will survive until the government authorizes care for them, as we see in Canada and England?
At least now, they can get the same care our illegal immigrants get ... go to the ER, and let others pick up the tab ... if things get dire.
"The list goes on. None of these concerns are of any interest to the right-wingers though."
WRONG. They are very much our concern, as illustrated above.
Are YOU willing, to acknowledge our positions and the validity of them ...
... or just dismiss them in the smug arrogance of the "enlightened" among the "hicks"? Two can play that game, BTW ..
Some here want to guarantee
Your right to get by irresponsibly
Get drunk, get stoned, get high on crack
And jump with anyone into the sack
Then go see the doc for "free"
Treat that hangover and STD
Pick up your check, and go back to bed
All they ask is your right ...
... to get ahead.
