24: It's Over - Buy The DVD's

I could tolerate 24 going carbon neutral as part of Fox's corporate nonsense, but Janeane Garofalo?? Janeane Garo-friggin'-falo ... because of a lackluster season? Garofalo couldn't add luster to a car finish with wax and a wet Tee shirt. Stick a fork in 24, it's done.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The political left and the political right will join forces on Fox's "24" this coming season. Janeane Garofalo, an outspoken liberal, is set to co-star on the conservative-leaning real-time drama, whose co-creator/executive producer Joel Surnow jokingly describes himself as a "right-wing nut job."

Garofalo will play a government agent who is part of the team investigating the crisis befalling Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and company in the upcoming season.

Garofalo is the second major cast addition to the action drama, which is going through a major revamping coming off a lackluster sixth season. Cherry Jones was tapped last month to play the new president.

"never mind the nukes and ebola virus about to be unleashed on us all! you people need to get your racist homophobe butts into diversity/sensitivity classes NOW!!"

I agree.
I gave up current hollywood movies because all I could do was think about all the STUPID leftist crap the actors have spewed.
I can assure you that I will not even turn on the new season.

Oh and did I mention that I don't give money to elitist pseudo intellectual high school dropouts. Guess I could afford her leftist/Marxist ideology if my father was an Exxon executive.

Last season started out huge, with the terror nukes being unleashed on American soil. Where 24 derailed has derailed the last two seasons is by having the American government be the ultimate villain - not the terrorists.

Now they've jumped the shark because they belive that if they keep going more and more Truther/lib/global warming wacko, they'll get some of that useless lib audience. In fact, they've only lost more and more of their core audience - hence, the "lacklusterliness". Adding Garofalo has proven that they're no longer playing to their conservative core (the ones that served up all those Emmys), and their doom is sealed.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

What? You think adding Dennis Miller would have been better? See what he did for Surnow's 1/2 Hour News Show? Saved that, huh?

Maybe casting decisions are better left to producers than bloggers.

They need to have Fred Thompson on the show. He talks tough and 'folksy'. The 'necks eat that up!

Will she revive her previous role as a 5th rate superhero with a skull embedded, crystal bowling ball?

Talks tough and folksy? Sounds like someone I know. "A bum came up to me and said 'How about giving me ten bucks until payday?' I said, 'When's payday?' He said, 'I don't know, you're the one who's working.'" Ba bap barroom bap.

Oh well. On to "Dancing with Jihadists".

But.....but....I thought the liberals were boycotting Fox. They said they were. Oh, yeah, I forgot, liberals are nothing but liars. Now, someone sign chrissie up for the homosexual contact at State.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! So the right-wing decided 24 was a right-wing TV show and that they're killing it by adding a lefty pinko actor to the mix? The joy of 24 has been that the macho posturing, killing and torturing always fails! After all the neocon posturing, the torture always gives info too late, incomplete, or wrong. It never was a pro-war show! It always was a "look at the USA and what nincompoops we elect and appoint to run us" show. Jack Bauer is Will Eisner's "The Spirit" come to 21st Century TV... Kill him and he gets resurrected. Hit him over the head, he shakes his head and keeps fighting. No matter what he does to his suspected enemies, he takes worse without fail. It's a comic book, nothing more.

"But.....but....I thought the liberals were boycotting Fox. They said they were. Oh, yeah, I forgot, liberals are nothing but liars. Now, someone sign chrissie up for the homosexual contact at State."

I award you zero points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Templar Knight is a big friend of the LORD. He is an oil exec and his redneck offspring attend private school. The LORD blesses his fat ass when he competes in bbq competitions (snicker). God clearly FAVORS him.

Amen.

Cherry Jones is also a darling of the left wing, activist arts set.

*sigh*

I refuse to bow to our left wing overlords.

Cheer up conservatives, maybe she will offer a terrorist a flower & he will give her the same gift Eric Balouf's character Milo got last season standing up as leader of CTU.

"--- Templar Knight is a big friend of the LORD. He is an oil exec and his redneck offspring attend private school. The LORD blesses his fat ass when he competes in bbq competitions (snicker). God clearly FAVORS him. ---"

I bet you'd sing a different tune, if you had opportunity to eat some of what gets BBQ'd up at those competitions.

Yeah, they have jumped the shark with this show. Back to comic books. Maybe they'll make a good video game with the show. I can see it now, stalking around with a gun....

Proud to say I've never watched it. (No good reason to be proud of it though, just can't seem to schedule times for serials, so avoid them.) One thing though, don't like the leading actor. Don't like his paw either. Naturally feel the same way about the guy in the movie Wall Street and his paw. Politics, politics. Show folks ought to stay out of it, though of course they have a right to needlessly ruin their careers if they so desire. Dixie Chicks anyone?

"Will she revive her previous role as a 5th rate superhero with a skull embedded, crystal bowling ball?"

I can only hope so. Myster Men was a fucking awesome movie. I mean, its that or she can come in as a Jewish abortionist, like in Dogma.

Either way, she's honestly not a bad pick to play Skully to Jack Bauer's Mulder. I don't think you could have cast two more disparate people. 24 meets The Odd Couple. :-p

I hate to break it to you wingnuts but the show is already ripe with liberals, the girl that plays Chloe is a big old lib, she is a standup comic and used to date David Cross who guest stars on the Colbert Report. Rush Limbaughs' famously grotesque unasked for kiss notwithstanding.

Speaking of Mulder, Mr christamfordmum, whatever happened to that commenter moldy who used to write here, I wonder?

Yeah, the Sutherlands and Douglases have really had lackluster careers. What a dumbass.

Of course Fox needs to bring in some liberal appeal to save this steaming load of crap. Commercially speaking, the Republican base constitutes the low-rent dregs of American society; polyester-wearing, QVC-buying, 7th Heaven-watching ignoramuses. Let's face it: advertisers are after people who live in liberal cities (that's why San Francisco and New York cost 10 times as Omaha and Topeka), attend liberal schools (that's why it's 100 times harder to get into Harvard and Columbia than Regent Law School and Libery U.), and work in liberal professions (Hollywood is still a bit more competitive than abstinence sex counselor).

"--- Commercially speaking, the Republican base constitutes the low-rent dregs of American society; polyester-wearing, QVC-buying, 7th Heaven-watching ignoramuses. ---"

Hey "legaleagle" (or are you Justin Whittaker come back to visit us once again...?)

...Do you do elitist liberal bigotry much? I mean, you make no attempt to conceal your utter hatred for those whom you consider yourself better than. Kudos to you for your raw honesty, at the very least.

Or are you blissfully ignorant of the Republican demographic? The "Base" that George W. Bush sells himself to are not the NASCAR-watching, Walmart-shopping, cheap domestic beer-swilling subhuman apes (perhaps you'd prefer "untermenschen" better) that you seem to think they are.

In fact, he was marketing himself to doctors, lawyers, accountants, venture capitalists, CEOs, CIOs, Boards of Directors, and stockholders in large cooporations, and especially the MIC (military-industrial complex). The other "monocellular proletarians" you seem to think that the right-wing is composed of simple came in on the draft behind the freight train that was being driven by Karl Rove back in 2000 and '04.

And Hollywierd has always been a bastion of leftard stupidity. Big shock there. I'm only surprised that "24" has made it this far without being completely reduced to a leftist pile of dung... I reckon it was only by Fox's influence that the CAIR-inspired plot lines weren't introduced by Season 2 or 3.

Hahaha. Lets look at some 'red'(neck) states.

Mississippi
Alabama
Kentucky
South Carolina

1 vote per tooth in all of the above.

i'm confused... what's over; 24 or conservatism. or is one an indicator of the other?

In her defense, she was really good in Ratatouille

"--- i'm confused... what's over; 24 or conservatism. or is one an indicator of the other? ---"

24.

TV shows jump the shark, and start slowly circling the drain, until finally they get retired off to rerunsville.

As for conservatism, it shall remain in the land as an opposite, but not necessarily equal force against so-called "liberalism" (which as it is commonly (mis)understood in the present era as "Marxism", spiritualphobia, and topped off with a sickeningly unhealthy dose of (self-percevied) intellectual elitism.

For example, refer to "chris" a.k.a. BoobInStamford a.k.a. 1453069 other sockpuppets of the same poor, pathetic humanoid who has nothing else better to do than to troll along here.

Yes, Justin, point out the hypocrisy of liberals, and all of a sudden you liberals get religion. Sorry, I don't buy it.

chrissy, here's a few gay states for you to drool over:

California
New York
Massachusettes

Don't spend all your $20 in one place! Hahaha! Oh, yeah, chrissie, just a hint for you. If you were to get a job, you might just have a little pocket change. But, then again, you would lose your reputation as a deadbeat. We can't have that, now can we? Of course, your reputation as a bigoted scumbag is safe.

Gay states? Tsk, tsk. Such a self-loathing closeted 'neck. I wonder if your fat wife knows the truth?

"...self-loathing closeted 'neck. I wonder if your fat wife..."

Hahaha! Bigoted little worm, aren't you? And calling a woman you've never seen before fat, huh, you're a class act, chrissie. But I've heard that you homos are mean. The founder of the Brownshirts, Gerhard Rossbach, was gay, and mean, just like you, chrissie? You would have made Hitler a good aide, chrissie.

"The founder of the Brownshirts, Gerhard Rossbach, was gay"

As usual all the best conservatives are gay.

You mean Roehm; not Rossbach; that's one failed Godwin violation right there. You know I think Surnow has finally jumped the shark with this one; he always
layed the paranoia and unease on thick; (Equalizer and La Femme Nikita) but
after this season, the joke has gotten old. I mean after a nuclear attack; and
a near war with Russia; as well as biological spills; nerve gas etc and people
still don't learn basic rules. Cherry Jones and Janeane Garofalo are the final
straw. By the way, did you get a whiff of Sherry Palmer in Michelle Obama's big
introductory speech?

ROFL this is too much. Only in retarded winger world, would an actress's appearance on a TV show warrant outrage. What a complete waste of oxygen you are Dan.

Say, legal, long time no see. What do you think of this argument?

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/08/shhh-us-winning-iraq-war-military-plans.html

Say, Islamollama (Phoenix is right, that is the most idiotic moniker in the history of the bolgosphere), here is some reading material especially for you, chris and gus. No need to thank me. Oh, by the way please feel free to share it with people in New York, Frisco (they hate that name), Harvard, Yale, and anywhere else where the elite meet to eat.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/08/an_investment_in_failure.html

Er bulgeosphere.

I suppose for gus it would be the blowgosphere.

Wow, Fred, that Thomas Sowell piece would have been really intriguing if he'd used even a shred of actual data to back up any of his assertions. I mean, congratulations. You found a man who hates the word "liberal".

That said, NY and San Fran, Harvard and Yale, are home to some of the highest salaries in the country. Capitalism is king in the big cities and both ivy league schools have some of the top business programs in the nation. Alabama? Mississippi? Oklahoma? Not so much. And don't even get me started on standard of living in these conservative hell-holes.

In fact, if you care to remember, El Presidente himself graduated from Yale (with a C average, after he failed to get into UT, another liberal bastion of education... Go Horns!)

I mean, what boggles the liberal mind is that anyone would want to be a conservative. You're basic ideology consists of lieing to yourselves about science and economics, pimping feuds between religions - be it Judeo-Christians vs. Muslims, Protestants vs. Catholics, Evangelicals vs. Hindus - and start wars you can't win in 3rd world countries. So you build these little communes of conservativehood with huge poverty-stricken populations kept in check by draconian laws and gerrymandered districts, constantly teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, swamped with corruption. And you scratch your head when, upon bringing conservative government to the national stage, its categorically rejected by the general population inside six years.

Poor Templar Knight. A fat man in the fattest state who 'competes' in bbq 'competitions'. How dare anyone conclude that such a prize has a fat wife. Hahaha!

I hope your cowardly son is ok when he comes to 'homo' nyc.

I have a nomination for the dumbest blogpost ever.

There is so much disinformation, and just outright ignorance written down in one place that it should at least hit the Top Ten. Congratulations, Ziffy!

"I hope your cowardly son is ok when he comes to 'homo' nyc."

chrissie, you have an unnatural interest in children.

"Wow, Fred, that Thomas Sowell piece would have been really intriguing if he'd used even a shred of actual data to back up any of his assertions."

Why, Islamo, whatever can you mean? I have looked in vain amongst your babblings for "actual data to back up....assertions" for many months now and find, well, none. How can you demand from others what you never provide yourself?

"That said, NY and San Fran, Harvard and Yale, are home to some of the highest salaries in the country."

Oops. Where did that "actual data" go. I don't see it do you, Islamo? You know salaries by geography? Oh well, never mind. I can imagine the salaries in these places tend to be high, not as high as the cost of living there what with the outrageous taxes demanded by spendthrift Dem governments and all.

But then how do we explain the anomalies? Do the names Seattle or Omaha strike a familiar note? You know, Gates and Buffett.

Islamo, see this aint workin', this is how you do it:

http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/taxesbystate2005/index.html

money for nothin' and your checks for free.

New York and Connecticut made the top dozen for taxes. Congratulations.

Sigh, time to break out the banhammer. This went downhill rather quickly, Dan.

She's acting on the show, not writing it. Calm down already.

You know, I'm not convinced this is going to change the show appreciably one way or the other. The idea that "24" or "Walker, Texas Ranger" exists to actively extoll the virtues of Manly Conservatism strikes me as the sort of idea that an easily-affronted liberal would wave around to try and show that Hollywood isn't *really* a bastion of over-the-top liberals. It bemuses me that apparently there are conservatives who not only believe that about "24", but think it's a good thing.

Fred. I want you.
