Ace has the scoop on a New York Times masthead editor whose use of the word faggot seems to have launched an investigation at the New York Times. I guess he wasn't man enough to embed with the Mahdi Army and take a photo while a terrorist targeted Americans.
A sniper loyal to Shiite cleric Moqtada al Sadr fires towards U.S. positions in the cemetery in Najaf, Iraq.
Michele McNally: "Right there with the Mahdi army. Incredible courage."

Two related points concerning this photo: First, this person knows absolutely nothing, zero, zed, nada about how to fire a rifle. He is holding it in the wrongest way possible. He is resting it incorrectly. He has no spot weld. Second, fear not for any soldier at whom this person is aiming. He will never hit his target this way. (Maybe he was making a complete fool out of the photographer.)

Here's a figure of a soldier demonstrating a prone shooting position with a stock/spot weld: (for those of us who may not know what a proper spot weld in terms of markmanship is)

He's much more likely to actually hit his target than the guy posing for the NYT photographer/propagandist.

A big bore with big boomies.
And portable, too!
