Troubling

Update: False Alarm? If the complete 40 minute tape is the same as a 40 minute tape from 2002 - then someone who surfs the jihadi nets effed up. If it is mostly new and the bin Laden bits were edited in, that would still be troubling. Allah's on top of it. The current thinking is it is a new tape with old footage.

Update: You can click through the link for details. It appears to be an older tape, but potentially the first time this footage was released. The pattern is what caught my eye, given recent reports:

I would love to attack and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred.’

Chatter ....

You know all that talk about a possible terrorist attack this summer and signals and so forth? Well if this bin Laden tape is authentic, there may just be something to it.

In the clip, 50 seconds long, Bin Laden says:

The seal of the prophets and all messengers (reference to Prophet Mohammed), prayers and peace be upon him, wished this status.

So be alert, be wise and think.

What is this status that the best of mankind wished for himself?

He wished to be a martyr.

He himself said ‘By Him in Whose Hands my life is! I would love to attack and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred.’

So this whole broad life is summarized by he who was inspired by God, the lord of the heavens and earth, praised and exalted is He.

This glorious prophet who was inspired by God summarized this entire life by these words. He wished upon himself this status. Happy is the one who was chosen by god as a martyr.

A recipe for happy living from Martha Stewart: "...attack and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred, then attack again and be martyred.’" How does the coocoo's song go? Now tell us again about the future of The Netherlands, please Ms. Vogelar.

Where is Seek? Seek, you Christians don't know anything about how to be a martyr. You can't just go alone. You've got to attack people first. That ain't workin', that's the way you do it. You get your picture on the MTV.

Fred,

Maybe they could start by bitch-slapping their wives. I don't know, but that might get the juices flowing enough for them to pull a chair out from beneath someone at work. That could lead to a fight with someone ending up with a pencil in the eye. This could be good. Violence begets violence and maybe there could be some good killings. They could have Christian Idol on TV. No.... Christian Martyr. Who kills the most wins.

Why am I not writing for television? :)

"Martyrs, Minions, and Mokes" Tuesdays on Channel 3. Brought to you by St. Peter's Church, in conjunction with Packy O'Reilly's Grand Saloon, two great New York traditions since the end of Prohibition at least. (Latin se habla aqui.) Starring Omar Sharif as Osama bin Laden and Barry Fitzgerald as Bing Crosby, with Kos Zuniga and Jane Hamsher as the Mokes.

Christian martyrdom, in the words of Christ:

"--

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

--"

Hmmm. Nothing in there about taking other peoples' lives, but rather, giving up our own lives for the benefit of others as a spiritual sacrifice to God.

Big difference between that and the walking ten-penny nail bombs of Islamic martyrdom, methinks.

So it seems, seek, so it seems.
