Instapundit has links and an email showing that Senator Liebermann's remarks on security cameras were apparently misquoted. Glenn weighs in:
Lots of garbage data, threat to civil liberties, but not much of an anti-terrorism record. The efficacy of cameras in preventing or remedying terror has been highly ineffective.
Security cameras have been misrepresented as a prevention methodology, what they are is a law enforcement tool to assist in aprehension and prosecution after the fact. If we're going to have the debate, we should at least have it honestly.
Then there's this: hard to argue prevention when cameras are being planted without notification, let alone the foolishness of a school principal placing one in a public school bathroom. Also see this site which tracks camera abuse.
“He’s got a five-day unwanted vacation. It’ll be on his permanent record that he stole school property. My opinion is that he did the right thing,” said Mack’s mother, Cindy Champion.
Mac is being punished for taking a camera out of the celing of the boys bathroom that is shared by Jasper County Middle and High School students. The high school principal admits to putting the camera there.

Ok lets find out if the principle has an equal opportunity camera in the girls bathroom.

Yuk. That's disgusting. Unless the school population likes having the principal behind closed doors all day.
That's okay, Slim - It's the principle of the thing anyway. :)
