via The Corner "Obama's Astonishing Moment" - but isn't Hillary's response at least as astonishing as Obama's given the recent dust up over a plan for withdrawal from Iraq?
Sen. Barack Obama, the candidate who once neglected to mention that he would counterattack if al Qaeda destroyed two U.S. cities, tonight pledged to meet, one-on-one, in his first year as president, with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Bashir Assad, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and Kim Jong Il.
Sen. Hillary Clinton refused to make such a pledge. "I will not promise to meet with the leaders of these countries during my first year," she said. "I don't want to be used for propaganda purposes."
Putting forward an actual plan for withdrawal as Clinton is demanding would be a PR coup for the terrorists. Has she changed her mind? Or is it okay to be used for propaganda purposes as long as you have the cover of one's like-minded colleagues?

She's playing this with some semblance of intelligence: giving Obama *just* enough rope to hang himself with.
After the madrassa dust-up (even if "disproven") ... any buddying up with the likes of Chavez or Amadnutjob or even Assad is likely to be seen as way too radical for the American mainstream voter.

Those guys would play Obama like a Steinway.

He's photogenic, articulate, cool -and clueless & naive. In short he's the perfect Democrat candidate.
Not that it matters. One year from now it will be obvious to most (save the likes of BIS) that the Surge worked and the Dems will be finished.

i really don't care about his looks, i'm just tried of everybody talking about how hot he is. seriously, he has huge dumbo ears. regardless, his tax plans would do entrepreneur's in. really scary stuff.

What entrepreneurs? You're right, Tally - scary stuff. Hard to believe, actually.

small business owners.

Wow, this blog is dead. Nonetheless, Surge on patriotic heroes! Rest assured brave ones, you truly are one of Bush's shining stars!
Posted by: donnie | Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 01:27 AM
Donnie ... your rumors of death here are greatly exaggerated.
The way I see it ... paraphrasing Patton, were he alive today and saw you as I do ...
******************
Many years from now, when your grandchild sits on your knee and asks you "What did you do, PawPaw, in the great War on Terror", all you will be able to say is "I sat on my a$$ and dropped disparaging comments at Riehl World View."
******************
I, this President, and many others, will be able to say something more positive:
"We stood as the al-Ameriki tribe, and did our part to help the Iraqi people secure their freedom".
(And personally, that would be in more than just words, though not at the risk of my life like our Men and Women in uniform).
Whether they will succeed in doing so, or not, however ... may depend on how much interference people like you fling, and whether or not the Iraqis see themselves as betrayed AGAIN by the West, and give up the fight.
So, you may "succeed" in doing something of significance in this War ... you may do your part to facilitate its loss by otherwise-free people.
You are part of the problem.

donnie puts the interest of his party before the interest of his country.
This is not surprising. donnie is a Democrat. It's what Democrats do.

Meanwhile, Terry Gain declares victory yet again. After all, we've ALREADY WON. Terry deserves a medal and an extra yellow ribbon magnet. He is a hero.

Hey there Glenn Gree- erm, I mean, chris. Or is it donnie? No, wait, Artie, Carl, BobInStamford... or whichever sock puppet you are today.
How is life over there in the Leftist Insane Asylum? Got your Burqa picked out yet, for when the Caliphate takes over? Better yet, why don't you hop on the next flight to Baghdad so that you can chill with all of your Islamist buddies?
Posted by: seekeronos | Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 09:43 AM
The Caliphate is taking over? Did your 'scriptures' foretell this?
Posted by: chris | Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 10:43 AM
donnie? chrisstamfordmum, why the new moniker? At any rate, your sarcastic marker, "The surge is working" is actually happening. I'm certain this makes you deliriously happy. Slog on.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 10:53 AM
The Surge is Working? That is excellent news. Another carrier landing must be in order as soon as that other 50% of Baghdad is shored up. I will be sure to Tivo it in 2011.

christamfordmum, here is more good news wherein the Dems have been corrected:------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Washington, D.C.): The Center for Security Policy is gratified that its efforts, those of innumerable bloggers, radio talk show hosts and other public-minded citizens translated into an important legislative victory late last night. Thanks to the leadership of Sens. Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins, the chairman and ranking minority member, respectively, of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and especially that of Rep. Pete King, Sen. Collins’ counterpart on the House Homeland Security Committee, legislation along the lines of that adopted by an overwhelming bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives last May at Rep. King’s initiative will shortly become law.
The language will provide protection against the sorts of harassment lawsuits filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) after several unidentified individuals reported six Muslim imams engaged in suspicious – and frightening – behavior prior to boarding a USAir flight in November 2006. CAIR has been identified as a front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood and is an un-indicted co-conspirator in an alleged terrorism-financing plot." The surge-at-home is working. Slime on.

Patience, chris ...
... after all, we let people like you have 40 YEARS to try and prove that "War is Never the Answer -- but Diplomacy is ALWAYS the Answer.
And methinks, by your placement of "scriptures" in scare quotes, you are another spirtualphobic like nokwinger ... another who is CLUELESS about how evangelical Christians and others who embrace spiritual worldviews that recognize the inalienable rights endowed by the Creator (whatever one thinks His/Her Name is) ...
... and CLUELESS as to just how faith-based their own positions are, despite their alleged reliance on a "science" which is too often secular fundamentalism in disguise.
It may be old, but it still illustrates my point:
