Barry Rubin has an article up at Global Research detailing how the New York Times and the Washington Post were duped into running an identical PR piece for Hamas on their Op ed pages on the very same day. That in and of itself is bad enough, but after checking the Times' Op Ed guidelines, see below, it appears they are also quite willing to forget the fact checking they claim to do when it comes to content submitted by Hamas.
Recently, the three main city-based newspapers in America ran op-eds by Hamas leaders. First, the exact same article by Ahmed Yousef, an advisor to the man who had headed the Palestinian Authority, appeared the same day, June 27, in the Washington Post and New York Times.
This is an extremely unusual development and it turned out, according to Washington Post editors, that Hamas’s public relations’ agent had fooled them by not informing either newspaper that the other was publishing. It was not the last time that Hamas would fool them.
The Times insists it edits and fact checks op eds and here indicates that it is far more likely to publish op eds that disagree with its editorial position, as opposed to being similarly minded. But as Rubin points out, along with being a fluff piece for Hamas, the material was factually incorrect in some very significant ways. I'm thinking an NRA submitted op ed to the Times would get a much closer read than one from a group linked to terrorism. And that's troubling, to say the least. Rubins full article here.
“The writings of Israel's `founders’ — from Herzl to Jabotinsky to Ben Gurion — make repeated calls for the destruction of Palestine's non-Jewish inhabitants: `We must expel the Arabs and take their places.’"
This is of course a total lie but in today’s atmosphere can readers be expected to know anything about this matter? And of course Israel’s acceptance of a two-state solution and wish to withdraw, or indeed its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, will never be acknowledged.

Wow, I am stunned that the NYT and WashPo could let themselves be used like this.

"let themselves be used like this"
Why do you think they aren't willing partners in this blood libel?

Erm, I didn't mean to be confrontation towards you, Mark E, just contemptuous towards the quislings at the Times and Post.
