I'm just fed up reading about this type of crime and while the details remain to be hashed out, it's one of those crimes that most people will just turn away from in disgust at every level. She blew Daddy's face off with a 12-gauge.
PITTSBURGH - A 13-year-old girl was charged Monday with fatally shooting her father while he was in bed, in a home police said was overrun with animals and in "deplorable condition." Matthew Booth, 34, was found dead of a shotgun wound to the head.
BUT - they were living in what amounts to an uncleaned animal cage and the girl claims she was abused. It appears to be a welfare situation and all this goes to prove is that the state is not able to intervene in family life effectively. So I wish they'd stop passing laws that effectively tear down the family dynamic and encouraging a nanny state that just doesn't work.
But Fazek said her daughter had been abused and that she had complained several times to county child welfare officials that her daughter and his brother, 14, were living in squalor.
"I just want to see her," Fazek said. "She must be so scared."
The Associated Press does not identify victims of possible sexual abuse.
The Booth house, which the family shared with an array of animals, was in deplorable condition, said James Morton, assistant superintendent of Allegheny County Police.
"They had a number of animals, dogs, cats and rabbits. They hadn't cleaned up after them," he said.
Fazek said her daughter attended cyberschool.

A mother I am related to neglects her 4 year old. There is a drug question and also a boyfriend question. Mother's sister goes to court and gets custody. Sister and husband support child fully, spend $30,000.00 in lawyer fees to retain custody. Neglectful mother has free lawyer appointed by the state.
After two years the court awards child back to mother. Mother promptly quits job and applies for welfare and section 8 housing.

And of course, nobody asks how a 13-year old can get hold of a shotgun. I'm sure I'll get flamed again by the gun nuts, but you've got to be really dense not to see (want to see, probably) that stricter gun laws could have saved two lives here (counting her life as destroyed too).
Yes, she could have used a kitchen knife. But it's pretty hard to kill someone with a knife when you are 13. Most kids don't have the strength, would probably only have wounded him and besides, it's a different story to actually stick a knife in someone up close. Pulling a trigger from a few feet away is much easier.
But I'll get bashed by the brainless anyway so come on, give me what you've got and show your obsession.

Right, Northerner, too bad pappy didn't think to lock up the guns before sexually abusing his daughter. Ever think maybe her life was already wasted given that? But the county welfare folks did nothing about that, or the squalor, according to the story. Heck, without guns, they coulda just gone on living happy as a bunch of peas in a pod. Ain't that a damned shame.

Maybe not, he was killed in bed, presumably while sleeping. A knife, a blunt object (like a baseball bat), or some gasoline and matches would work just fine in such a situation.

Stop all the BS, please. Let's admit it. The shotgun shot him. They don't call them shotguns for nothing. By the way, let's not forget to outlaw the shells involved. They are just as guilty of this crime as the shotgun. We'll get to the death-dealing automobiles later.
