Update: A comment by CheDiva ... led me to thisfrom February - seems the Kos Kidz changed nothing. h/t lgf
Home-improvement chain Lowe's has pulled its advertising from The O'Reilly Factor following comments host Bill O'Reilly made about Shawn Hornbeck, the 15-year-old Missouri boy who recently returned to his parents after four years in captivity.
Given an item, see below, currently posted at Daily Kos, I called Lowe's Public Relations offices to see if there was any more information to be had around their decision to not advertise on Fox's O'Reilly program in response to a Liberal driven attack on Fox advertisers.
The Lowe's contact I reached looked into the issue and informed me that Lowe's advertising guidelines allow for advertising only on "family friendly" shows and seeks to avoid advertising on shows which look to sway political opinions, one way, or another. I imagine they won't be sponsoring any Kos Kidz events or web sites in the future, either. And I wouldn't look for their ads to start turning up on blogs of any particular political stripe anytime soon.
I've requested any additional information, or clarification in email. I'll post it if it comes through.

Dear Lowe's Customer,
Thank you for your comments regarding the program, The O'Reilly Factor.
Lowe's has strict guidelines that govern the placement of our advertising. Our company advertises primarily in national, network prime-time television programs and on a variety of cable outlets.
Lowe's constantly reviews advertising buys to make certain they are consistent with its policy guidelines. The O'Reilly Factor does not meet Lowe's advertising guidelines, and the company's advertising will no longer appear during the program.

Dan,
Lowe's pulled out as an advertiser after O'Reilly made the comments about Shawn Hornbeck in Feb 2007. There's more at LGF on the this. KOS and co. had nothing to do with the exit of Lowe's as an advertiser they are simply taking credit where none is due to them.

At any rate, I won't shop at Lowe's any more, as they seem to think they are arbiters of some sort of moral code. Screw them and screw their leftard policies.

O'Reilly is a fanatical lying kook, infidel - but why would you describe him as left wing? He's as rightwingnumbnutz as one can get.

To add to my comment, I've long wondered why consumers have not reacted to the support of rightwingnumbnutz like O'Reilly by communicating their displeasure to the advertisers. Did you think you were the only customers of Lowe's, infidel and dan?
