Don Surber has a take on blog comments today and, while it sounds nice, it's lacking some important blogger perspective and short on legal insight. I researched blog comment issues back when blogging on a crime story that was generating tons of comments. What we should do is simply start hating one another in peace and stop sniping at one other's blog comments. I just pointed out the folly in that here.
UPDATE: And let us talk about commenst(sic): The blogger is responsible for what is on the blog. A blogger who leaves an obscene or libelous comment up should be held accountable for that comment. You own it. It’s yours.
Some may rightly question why allow comments at all. But if you view a blog as a small community of sorts and you don't pull mega traffic as a lone pundit, I don't see the point of discouraging comments from readers. But the critical issue is moderation. I've made it a point of stating that my comments are unmoderated in the past because of some libel cases then playing out.
If you moderate comments, you can indeed be held responsible for them, up to and including for libel. Now, if you have a large blog with many comments, you could find yourself spending more time reading comments, than blogging. That isn't a burden I'd want to see introduced as a wholesale measure, though it wouldn't impact me right now very much. When I was getting over a thousand comments a day on the Holloway case it would have.
I deal with comments on a case by case basis if and when they are brought to my attention.

In general the Kossack Krime-spree Krowd has gone to public schools, been taught by teachers who are members of crooked unions like AFTA & NEA, and are bereft of a wide vocabulary or any critical faculties other than hatred of traditional values.
So the F-bomb is their way of spicing up the humorless agitprop these half-wits generate like fecal material—from their most productive orifice.

How about just being quiet and collecting your government welfare/pension. Thanks, hero. Further proof that they will take anyone.

Ya know, ChrisInDonnie/BobinStamford/KelvinInArtie/Carl/etc/etc/etc/ad nauseum...
... they just might take a bloated, ignorant, mentally stunted wunderkind like yourself as well. I reckon they could always use your disgusting body mass for live bayonet practice, if your ASVAB scores do not permit you to aspire to the job of passing out towels at the post gym.
Why don't you do your patriotic duty, and sign up? I'm sure that there is a recruiting sergeant or a gunny just dying to sign your ugly, decrepit carcass up for a tour.
Don't worry folks, the bayonet practice wouldn't kill him, his boy-loving hairy man-boob blubber would simply deflect the blades.
Oh nebbermind - SockPuppetMaster is in love with his role models in Outer Islamistan. After all, what good Islamist wouldn't want a goat or three for a "domestic partner", after all?
Go for the gold, brave BoobInSockPuppet... and make your boy OBL happy. Hurry up now, your hairy Islamist masters are waiting!

ChrisInDonnie/BobinStamford/KelvinInArtie/Carl/etc/etc/etc/ad nauseum, here's your word for today;
virulent - quite descriptive, no?
stop back in tomorrow, i'll have a new one for you

Such a big word. A "gnostic" like yourself must be full of them. I'm sure you are fascinating to have around the house. Your 'lovely' bride must yearn for attention from the goats and muslims in the outer boroughs.

virulent parasite
Posted by: charles | Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 05:25 PM
I hardly think that 'parasite' is a new word to many. Maybe in the fast-paced, dynamic world of setting up trade show booths, but not here. Sorry. My best to the family.
