I was going to comment on this moron Larry Johnson but let it go. I see Ace has picked it up. What do you do when your reputation is so bad all you can get on is Olbermann? You make it worse, of course. The seriously troubling item is that the idiot once worked for the CIA.

I watched the clip of Johnson on Olby's show, what an idiot. Intelligence agents like that are one of the main reasons that 9/11 happened. His statement that since the London bombs are not like the car bombs in Iraq there is doubt that al Qaeda is involved is stupid. Is he not aware that terrorists use whatever materials are easily at hand for their bombs and RDX and arty shells aren't easy to come by in London while gasoline and propane are? His statement to the effect that if detonated the bomb would have "damaged the interior of the Mercedes" is beyond stupid. Here's a clip showing exactly what a fual / air bomb will do

Note that this was nothing except a bursting charge with a secondary igniting charge, no propane tanks and from the look of it about a gallon of gas, not 50 gallons as found in the Mercedes. 50 gallons of gasoline vaporized and ignited would have produced a fireball the size of a good sized 2 story house and blast effect much much larger. Obviously in the London bomb cars the initial explosive didn't get detonated and open up the car, vaporizing the fuel. Homemade detonators have been the terrorists weak point, not easy to make and harder still to get right. Commercial and military detonators are hard to come by in the post 9/11 world and have been so in England for even longer due to the IRA problems of decades past.

This is why gasoline (and propane) make for lousy car bombs. Getting them dispersed to a dilute enough concentration where they're explosive is actually quite difficult. An astute bomber would be using acetylene, but these people are dumber than a bag of hammers.
