Drudge has his light on and the devil is in the details, as always.
June 27 (Bloomberg) -- The fate of U.S. immigration legislation was cast into doubt when at least six senators who helped revive the proposed overhaul said they either oppose or are leaning against a move to permit a vote on final passage.
The measure is in more jeopardy ``than I thought a few hours ago,'' said Senator Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat.
The supporters' strategy of disposing of amendments that threatened the legislation's bipartisan support hit a procedural snag late in the day, adding to the uncertainty. The Senate refused to set aside an amendment by Montana Democrats Max Baucus and Jon Tester that would dilute requirements employers verify the identity of new workers.
I believe that's the Real ID amendment - with that alive, anything suggesting there will be enforcement is a farce and Repubicans won't be able to get away with supporting it.
An amendment by Montana's Democratic Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester, who opposed moving to a final vote on the bill, to remove requirements that workers present “REAL ID” driver's license to prospective employers.

This zombie has been resurrected too many times to prematurely declare it dead, Dan. Let's just say it's on life support. But what I have seen in the Senate today in worse than the immigration legislation. Reid has made a sham of Senate procedures, and has attempted to completely change the way the US Senate has operated for over 200 years. I'm waiting for the learned commentary of our resident liberals on Reid's disgusting behavior, but I'm not holding my breath. I want to live!

Real ID is such a joke. I just had to present a birth cert, passport and fill out a DHS form to work a joint that has nothing what so ever to do with national security. These jackasses are perfectly OK with making real American jump through hoops to get a job, but have no problems allowing illegals to present lightweight credentials anyone with a box of crayons and McDonalds burger wrapper could forge.

One good thing - public outrage has made a difference. People are waking up and that's a good thing. Maybe if we can get a huge march on the Mall, some of our elected officials will come back to earth and realize who they work for. It could happen as this issue crosses political lines and pisses everyone off.

Methinks it is all about the coming tyranny of control by the elitist cronies who worship the Great Spotted Boogey-Owl at the Bohemian Grove.
What we really need is to clean out both House and Senate, put an eternal bar on anyone with a (D) or an (R) after thier names from running for any office, whether it be congresscritter, president, or town dogcatcher... along with anyone who has served in Congress or by appointment of Bush or Clinton.
We need to start afresh with new parties, or better yet, none at all.
