Michelle Malkin posts the story of Xochil Garcia, a young girl who fought back against a likely rapist and won. But what did she win? Evidently this wasn't an unusual crime for the building given statements from the Mother and the guy is already back on the street after seemingly admitting he is still a threat.
Two days after he allegedly tried to kidnap a feisty 11-year-old who wriggled out of his grasp, a Brooklyn teen was back on the street yesterday.
Bernard Mutterperl, 19, of Borough Park, got out of Rikers Island shortly before 2 p.m., Correction Department officials confirmed.
Before he was freed, Mutterperl told cops that "when he sees young girls, he has to go after them," according to court documents.
Xochil Garcia's worried stepfather, Heriberto Rodriguez, said no one called the family to warn them Mutterperl was a free man.

In another time, and probably place, such a dangerous young man might turn up hanging from a tree or streetlight.
Disgusting.

He'll probably kill his next victim, and that MIGHT be sufficient to refuse bail, but you never can tell...

I just read the saddest story..... The Innocence Project arranged through DNA testing to free a man who has been in jail for 25 years. He was convicted of raping and killing his girlfriend's two kids. He gets free therapy and job training and $25,000 per year that he was jailed. Turns out a predator in his apartment building killed the kids.
Yeah - in another time and place, this man would probably have been hanged without a trial. Thank you for The Innocence Project. What is wrong with our justice system? What is so wrong that The Innocence Project has so much work to do that they can't cover it all? Sad stuff.
I get so sad when I think of a man sitting in prison knowing he did not commit the crime. My mind can't grasp the desolation. Nor can I grasp this animal being freed.

Yeah, but in a place like that it could just as easily be the girl hanging from a tree or a streetlight for ratting her rapist out.

The perp was released on $25,000.00 bail. No information as to who put up the bail money.
Using the term "ratting out" is wrong.

Wrong country, Zif. This would happen today in many Muslim countries only 'ratting her rapist out' would never happen. She'd not be given that option nor would she take it if she had it.
What's up with that 'ratting out' anyway? yuk on you.

No, Zif - I wasn't thinking of the redneck variety single vigilante. I was saying we'd all become vigilantes if we had to.
Did your friend rat out the cop in Georgia? If she was 'nearly' raped, I assume she wasn't raped but possibly assaulted? She has a great case.
There's also this thing in the south where a black girl accuses three white guys of rape. Their lives are shredded and she's ignored by the law but hallowed by half the world including 80% of a southern Ivy League university. A brazen black congress woman assaults a cop on Capitol Hill and nothing happens to her.
Quit generalizing. It messes up your arguments.
