via RightWingNews - the mainstream media won't do much to get it out:
On Friday, I did a phone interview with Angela McGlowan to discuss her new book, Bamboozled: How Americans are being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda. What follows is an edited transcript of our conversation.

I guess blacks just don't understand that Republicans really, really have their best interests at heart. Like the great Southern Strategy or Bush's Justice Department where:
"The I-Team has learned that since 2003...the criminal section within the Civil Rights Division has not hired a single black attorney to replace those who have left. Not one.
As a result, the current face of civil rights prosecutions looks like this: Out of fifty attorneys in the Criminal Section - only two are black. The same number the criminal section had in 1978 - even though the size of the staff has more than doubled."
The Party of Lincoln became the Party of David Duke. Sad, but true.
Best line I read about the Kentucky Derby: This place is a Republican's dream--all the white people are in suits and all the black people are employees.

"The Party of Lincoln became the Party of David Duke. Sad, but true."
Yeah, those assholes who made two blacks Secretary of State, not to mention other cabinet and department level positions filled by blacks and what is up with the black & hispanic Justices? Damned racists, upsetting the whole scheme of things.
It is sad that as pretty as Churchill Downs is inside, outside it's in a slum.

All the white people are in suits?? Ever take a look at the infield?? Biggest redneck convention this side of a nascar race. #3 4eva!!!
Posted by: Kelvin | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 11:10 AM
Whoops, I think that quote actually describes the Republican National Convention.
The Southern Strategy, State's Rights, opposition to affirmative action, opposition to motor voter, David Duke, Willie Horton, support for Confederate flags in Georgia and South Carolina, the CCC, etc, etc, etc.
That's what the Party of Lincoln's become. Today, Lincoln would be a Democrat.
Posted by: jong | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 11:18 AM
Read much history, Dong? Lincoln had no use for racists. The democrats would be anathema to him.
Posted by: Phoenix | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 11:33 AM
"Today, Lincoln would be a Democrat."
Considering that he wanted to send the blacks (whom he felt inferior to whites) back to Africa. I can only agree with your statement and acknowledge your bigotry.
Posted by: imaginewhirledpeas | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 11:33 AM
zerodegreeskelvin is a bigot. He is prejudiced against "rednecks', i.e., the entire white population of the states south of Maryland to the western valleys of California and from the Dakotas through Montana south to the border. Now that is hate and bigotry of epic proportions. Congratulations zero on electing the likes of Chris Dodd as Senator. I'm sure he is very proud of you.

"Lincoln had no use for racists."
He also had no use for endless, unlawful wars. And he had the good sense not to cut taxes during wartime, when he did go.
As for how "racist" Lincoln was, that is a matter of degree and of history. Given modern day preconceptions, Lincoln would come across as surprisingly racists on his views regarding equal rights and enfranchisement.
Of course, comparing 19th century Lincoln to a 21st century politician is the height of trite, meaningless political dialogue.
Bush has been very good at putting a black face on his administration and, to be fair, the business wing of the Republican party has done a respectable job of encorporating rich black executives alongside rich white executives. But R v D has always been a class struggle more than a race struggle. Blacks took shit because they were poor or were perceived as poor. Same with hispanics, italians, irish, and the rest. So while Bush has no problem embrassing a 4-star general, he still doesn't mind letting four hundred thousand people drown in New Orleans. Because the only color Neo-Cons see is Green.

"he still doesn't mind letting four hundred thousand people drown in New Orleans"
bwahahahahahahha - you guys just love making shit up
where'd they hide the bodies? were they eaten by all those nola cannibals the msm was reporting?

In the 1860s, Republicans fought to end slavery. Now, Republicans fight to keep the Confederate flag flying in Georgia and South Carolina.

"He also had no use for endless, unlawful wars."
Abe's war on his own people lasted as long as this one has and had more detractors than this one. The bill of rights was trashed and yes, taxes were not only increased but new ones invented. At least three states seceeded AFTER one state fired on a federal fort because they believed the blockading of neautral ports, the transfer of troops across neautral borders were unconstitutional. Lincoln's war is a monument to the break down of diplomacy. Really a bad comparison to today. A better comparison might be the Spanish-American war........or hell, Vietnam. Of course the latter would indict demonrats and you could not allow that.

Yeah and the first colony to make slavery illegal was Georgia while the first colony to make it legal was Massachusetts. There were never any slaves imported into this country on ANY confederate flagged vessel. Now if we're going to attack a flag for the racist crap that happened under it, I'd pick the one that flew over slavery for 89 years, over slave ships, over segregation, over the trail of tears, the tuskege experiment and Jim Crow..............

"he still doesn't mind letting four hundred thousand people drown in New Orleans"
I guess he figured that since a demonrat state legislature, governor and mayor did nothing for those people during 8 years under Clinton that they didn't need anything.

Amazing thread.... let's drag up the Civil War and make its political and cultural mindsets relevant to today. Why do liberals do this? Always, always they depend on history to make points and never, ever seem able to value the future on a time scale longer than today. What some might call racism in Lincoln was merely the thinking of the time... of everyone. But we've come a long way and by today's standards, Lincoln was no racist. He was sorely aggrieved by the state of the nation and the 'acceptability' or rejection of slavery from many sides. We're past that.... aren't we? Or does bringing it up now make some flimsy justification for the lowlife behavior of a democrat or two?
You know someone has no credence when they have to use the well worn, long-ago paths of our history to score points today.

Phoenix: Did you read the article Dan linked to?
Posted by: jong | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 01:42 PM
I don't comment unless I read the links.

Then you know it's the article that brought in Lincoln and the Civil War by referencing the Emancipation Proclamation.
Posted by: jong | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 02:05 PM
Yeah, it was all those mean old Reps who fought againt integration...oops, it was the Dems.
Considering the black community is now on par with whites as far as the middle class thanks to the Dems...oops, they aren't.
I find it amusing when the Dem party of racists and race pimps accuse Conservatives of being racist.
Posted by: Hard Right | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 02:08 PM
Yes, it Reps who say minority's aren't capable of getting ahead without their help...oops.
It's the racists/Dems again.

Phoenix: "Then you know it's the article that brought in Lincoln and the Civil War by referencing the Emancipation Proclamation."
When the question has an historical basis, the discussion cannot resist historical references. I was enjoying the discussion w/ jong dammit.

The Democrats have lots to be ashamed or, but when they became the party of desegregation - Truman integreting the Armed forces, JFK calling out the National Guard, LBJ pushing through historic Civil Rights legislation - most of those racists fled to the Republican party and Nixon created the Southern Strategy. Proud day for the Republicans.
And I agree with the flip side of Hard Right's argument - it's certainly true the Republicans would never knowingly help a black man, New Orleans certainly proved that.

"And I agree with the flip side of Hard Right's argument - it's certainly true the Republicans would never knowingly help a black man, New Orleans certainly proved that."
How can you seem so intelligent one minute and then write something so stupid the next?

Macaca ...
We would have been better off is Strom Thurmond had gotten elected ...
And on and on and on ....

I'll plead that I've read too many Hard Right posts - they've gone to my head.
Posted by: jong | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 03:06 PM
Didn't Pres. Eisenhower integrate the schools in Little Rock, Ark?
And what of Gov. George Wallace (D) refusing integration?
And Pres. Roosevelt refusing to integrate the Armed Forces?
Posted by: Lala | Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at 06:52 PM
..it's certainly true the Republicans would never knowingly help a black man..."
It's a damn good thing then that all those white guys flying those helicopters over NO right after the flood, and all those white guys running those boats were all Democrats. Weren't they? Because they saved thousands of black men, even though some black men were doing everything in their power to murder them.
You're really stupid, jong. Really stupid. And you probably have a flimsy degree in one of the humanities from one of the liberal arts colleges. You are a testament to an educated fool.
