I don't know if anyone else had this experience, but apparently Fred Thompson was on Hannity and Colmes tonight. Too bad there wasn't any audio, except for one network commercial the whole time. Did Fox put on an hour of sound dead air in the New York market?
I checked everything, all other channels were fine and Fox eventually got around to turning the audio back on after the show. Was this within the northeast? My town?
Anyone else have this experience? Quite an interview with Thompson ... not. He claims to be looking at an unconventional campaign. This was unconventional to say the least.

Fred is just putting his money where his mouth is regarding many issues. A candidate comes to your community, has one of those $1k a plate dinners and talks in 15 second sound bites for the local media. Who gets to go see him, maybe 100 people, 200 and at what financial cost to the campaign. As a conservative, a fiscal conservative I appreciate a candidate who doesn't think that everything needs to have money thrown at it to make problem go away or to get things done. To be honest I'll donate twice the amount of money to someone who shows that they'll spend it wisely than one who throws it around plus I'll donate my own time for his campaign.
Don't know about Hannity, haven't been around a TV much the last week or so.

Buzzy, the sad part is the voters who make a decision on a candidate based on a 15 sec sound bite. Really sad considering almost 45% of the population does not know who the vice president is. But then again, that's nothing new. We need a current event test before being allowed to vote!

I didn't watch live but there's a link to a video of the interview on the main page at http://www.foxnews.com/. Well worth your time to watch (and listen to.)

"Gnats swarming around a war horse", I like that and honestly I think a lot of Americans, including those moderate and conservative Democrats are going to like Fred's thoughtful conservatism.

It's that liberal media, squelching the voice of the next American President. Damn you, co-axial cable, and your well known liberal bias!

I like Fred Thompson, I've always liked Fred Thompson, and I would vote for Fred Thompson before I would Rudy, John, Newt or Mitt. But that's just me.

Good idea, Cindi. But I say go further and stop any campaigning until six months before the election. Have national TV debates on Wednesday nights for those six months and give the candidates tough questions. Have Simon Cowel as one of the judges who gets to throw a candidate a few rude remarks. Then have Americans over the age of 21 do the call-in - just like in American Idol.
People would love it. No more two years of asinine poll numbers and flip-flopping to keep up with the geo-political change that occurs each days..... just straight-talking answers to questions.
Think of the money the country would save to say nothing of the stupid fighting. The big plus is that whatever a candidate says will be recorded in context for endless playback if they don't live up to their declarations of all the wondrous things they'll do for our country.

There is an unreasonable part of me that thinks that the vote should be restricted to ala Heinlein-type suffrage where only US citizens who have served two or more years in the military or National/State guards, or non-military landowning citizens over the age of 25.
Of course, it would be unreasonable, but it would temper the stupidity of the average college "liberal" somewhat, and reduce the vote influence of the dependent classes of people who refuse to serve their country or work an honest day in their lives.

Seek,
I think we've all had those 'unreasonable' thoughts. When you watch people interviewed coming out of the voting booth and they say, "Oh! I voted for Mitt Romney because he has such nice hair!", it kind of makes you want to throw up.
Heh...read an article about Romney's father who ran for president. He was for Vietnam before he was against it. Get this: In 1995, 12 years ago, Romney's father had his four children: Of those four children, twelve years ago, he had 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. I wonder how many there are now? Any questions about Mormonism?
