Since when is quicksand a path? And I'm not a die hard pro-lifer, or a one issue voter, unless it's national defense. And that's the real problem for me with Rudy's call on this.
Embracing Abortion Rights, Giuliani Treads a New Path
After months of conflicting signals on abortion, Rudolph W. Giuliani is planning to offer a forthright affirmation of his support for abortion rights in public forums, television appearances and interviews in the coming days, despite the potential for bad consequences among some conservative voters already wary of his views, aides said yesterday.
He may yet try to carve out the position I'd have suggested to him, but it's likely too late. Roe is bad law, abortion shouldn't be the litmus test for a President, or a judge. Spineless politicians in the legislative branch have shirked their responsibility on this issue for too long and it needs to stop.
This should be a matter of law settled legislatively, preferably by the States, as it is a moral issue and best resolved through the most democratic process we have, not the least, which is the courts. He could campaign with pro-life and pro-choice candidates.
He didn't lead on the issue, he allowed it to lead him. This is a purely reactive move as more and more of his pro-choice supporting past has come back to haunt him. The reason I want him out is because he can split the party now and maybe get the nomination. But he will never get strong support from the base. That would bring a Democrat into the White House.
Because my issue, National Security, would suffer - I want him out, ASAP.

Rudy's fumbling of this issue reflects arrogance - the idea that he could gain the nomination without having first thought through his position on the issue - but wishing him into the cornfield isn't the answer. Much better to co-opt him and his 30% or so ceiling in the big tent mode. That's how a winning party would play this hand.

Wasn't going to vote for Rudy anyway but even less now if that's possible.
Abortion isn't my biggest issue, not even in my top three, but Rudy just pulled a mid campaign flip flop and it makes me wonder exactly what other issues he might have misrepresented himself on.
Rudy was a gun grabber in NYC but had projected a much more conservative face on the subject since running for President, will he return to his anti 2nd amendment ways before or after he gets elected?
I doubt he'll flip flop on amnesty for criminal aliens or make any effort to secure the border since the CINO creed somehow doesn't equate weak ports and borders with a threat to our national security.
I'll go ahead and predict that if Rudy gets the GOP nomination Hillary will be our next President.

He has my vote. I said in a thread above that the abortion thing was my deciding point, but it goes way past that bit of fiestiness on my part. He's been in the business world, the world of government..... he shoved that ten-million-dollar check right back into that Sheik's face after 9/11. He's been there and done it on domestic hassles and I'm sure he's learned about all there is on that front - even with a child who won't speak to him. I'd rather have a 'ridden hard and put away wet' man who knows about the vagaries of the human condition through business, governing and personal experience than someone who is guided by love of God and pretends purity of spirit.
