11:30PM? Weird time, on a Friday night? It doesn't really matter. He's getting traction. I think he's got the VP spot (because Romney has all but lost his core (which I once was a proud donor of)). Thompson is really awesome, I would love to see him and Guilliani together. Fred! gets the base excited, Giulliani is polling 10% higher than Hillary in PA., NJ., OH., and FL. They would be unstoppable.

You are right McCain can't catch a break. I heard him on the Daily Show and really liked him there, he just slips up way too much. He might be a good President, I doubt we'll ever know. Too many soundbites of him that upset both the left and right.

McCain is desperately trying to get the nomination. He's saying whatever he thinks will get him the nod. Problem is, he's pissed on too many of the people he wants to vote for him.

Sort of makes some of us just like Fred, ya think?

Yeah I think. I'm kinda waiting for the Swift Boaters to sort them out for me.heh

11:30 pm est is a perfectly reasonable time if you live on the west coast (like I don't). How about F. Thompson/Giulliani? A good southern gentleman to pull in the South, a moderate Yankee for balance. Thompson/Steele would be better, especially if Obama's on the Dhimm ticket.

I'm good with Fred / Rudy (but not so much the other way around). Yeah Fred / Steele would be great but if Rudy could pull in NY State solidly I wouldn't quibble over his social con weaknesses (as VP).

Actually I think Fred / Romney would be a good ticket also. Both can think on their feet and speak well.

Do you think that Fred! is electable right now though? I don't. He has a way to go. Rudy is, and I think that both would make great leaders, so we could have the next 16 years locked. Giulliani is great, he pulls in funds, and gets tons of votes. I also trust him to be socially moderate (I don't believe that he would veto the same way as Bush threatened/did with gay marriage/stem cells.)

If I see Rudy and Fred, I can tell you they have my vote. They get the base going.

My Concern is the Congress in 2008, it seems like a Republican President, but I fear that we won't win the House back.... The Senate there is a good chance though.

I read an article the other day showing threatened GOP seats vs. Dem seat in the Senate and it looks good. Especially if Franken runs in Minnesota.

If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve. Seriously, McCain and Giulliani both beat Obamma, Clinton and Gore in the polls that pit them against these worthies. Now how could this be? These two are very Hawkish on the war. Yet we are told daily the Polls show the American people are opposed to the war. This doesn't seem to mesh. Could it be the American people are against the war because we are not able to take the kid gloves off our military?

Have to agree with Jeff all the way. What an awesome force Thompson and Guiliani would be. Agree, as well, that Guiliani is not about to push his personal beliefs onto anyone.

Fred,

I don't listen to polls. I think your last point is valid, and while I don't give credence to polls, it would be interesting for someone to ask a gazillion 'regular' Americans that very question.

Have you ever been interviewed for a telephone poll, Phoenix? When you start to give answers they don't want to hear they get an edge to their voices. "Sir, Do you support the war in Iraq?" "Yes, wholeheartedly." (Stunned silence.) Once I was interviewed for what was announced as a political poll. "Sir, do you intend to vote for Senator Dodd?" "Heck no." "Why not? Almost everyone I phoned today strongly supports the Senator." This wasn't a poll; they lied. Honesty: These were not the actual questions and answers. I no longer recall them. These were, however, real incidents.

What a bunch of Bush-supporting losers on that stage last night! Kooks, Mormons (also kooks), abortionists and a sad little old man. Funny stuff.

Fred,

Yes. Exactly! I got the same thing from a pollster once. I noticed the change in tone when my answers were not what he wanted. Hence, polling is baloney.
