The libs are hypocrites, so what else is new. Now the fact that a guy in Germany cut his own head off with an electric chainsaw the other day, thats new. He had to have wedged it so that it was pointing straight up. I can't think of any other way it would have worked.

So are you defending John Ashcroft or whining because Daily Kos doesn't nail this up as a front page story?

Dan is merely pointing out that libs attack conservatives as prudish and as favoring censorship over freedom of expression ala the ashcroft 'incident'. But when a fellow lib, or his staff, make a similar (and correct) value judgement about the appropriateness of a background image at a political speech, there is no such condemnation.

Liberals suck. Point taken.

Yuk. Please stop linking to Kos. I get over there and start reading and get depressed.

Although, I did read an article by a Mormon who described how the hierarchy in the church works and how Mormons cannot declare war, go to war until three or four criteria are met. They have to try to make friends first and then do it again, and then one more time, and then they have to go to President Hinckly, who talks directly to God. If God says it's warranted, they may declare war - but only if they've tried appeasement three times. I was wondering while I read it if Romney gets to be our president if he will have to ask President Hinckly if it's okay to go to war.

As for covering up boobs and beavers..... The Ashcroft burqa-moment embarrassed me. Covering up Britney's bush...or lack of.... why is that hanging in the first place? I wonder if the Pieta or the statue of David were there if they'd have covered those up? Are we twits or what?

Nobody wants to remember that it wasn't Ashcroft who had the statue covered - is was the NEWS CAMERA CREWS who wanted a blue background, and thus draped cloth behind the podium.

But the Left never did care about the truth, only political power.

He's pointing out the utter hypocricy of the Left, Zif.

hahaha. Ah, hypocrasy. I thought Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay had the market cornered on that. Or was it irony? I can't remember.

Regardless, it looks like this is simply a case of Dan bitching about what other people post or don't post on their blogs. I suppose I should shed a big fat tear over Dan's complete void of articles covering Michael Moore's newest ass... I mean movie and how the Bush Administration is trying to censor him with a bit more than curtains.

Michael Moore is fat! Oh, oh sorry. Don't know what came over me.

I was working at a venue in SC that hosted a McCain visit in 2000 and his handlers did a similar thing in our gallery where he was speaking, no big deal (and no press on the story either) we did the same when we were hosting children's shows. The difference between this and Ashcroft is the temporary nature of what Obama's people did. Of course I wouldn't expect you righties to get the nuance.

Ah, nuance. In other words...IOKIALDI!!!!!!Because liberals have so much nuance, and context. Liberal says nigger, no problem, it's the nuance. A liberal gets on the radio and talks about raping the Secretary of State, it's just context! A conservative has a speaking engagement on a liberal college campus, and liberals do everything in their power, including violence and dirty tricks, to prevent free speech, must be that context thing again.

Yep, I was right again, the "utter hypocrisy of the Left", which includes you liberal posters here. Really, you're just full of shit.

Opie and Anthony are vial and disguting I don't care what their politics are, does that make it all better tempermental Knight?

I have to support both Ashcroft and Obama.

Ashcroft had no problem with the statue itself and said so. But it was distracting when he was speaking to the media. The media made a point of making sure the breast was shown closely beside his ear. Strangely enough shots at that angle also appeared when Ed Meese was AJ also but not during Democratic administrations.

Now Obama went to a museum that is currently displaying a large and explicit painting of Brittany Spears famous adventure w/o panties. It made no sense to tempt the media taping that for the six o'clock news. And that would be exactly the shot they would have used.

All humor/sarcasm aside, I agree with you K.

Ok Saturday, then why did the curtains remain up for the entire Ashcroft tenure if he didn't have a problem with them.

TheSpartan: you would have to ask Ashcroft. The only thing clear is that he got disgusted with the press always forcing that angle when he was there.

The area itself is shaped so that presentations are best made right before the statue. But the camera has to be low and angled up to include the speakers head right by the breast.

It is the natural place for announcements. Foot traffic isn't blocked, and the ceiling is high. Good for the media. Almost any serious DOJ announcement in Washington is made there. It isn't as if Ashcroft and Meese and others discovered the place and used it once.

There is also a matching statue of a male, wearing a loincloth. I've never seen it in the news.
