What is she thinking? That Obama is getting too far ahead? How about paying attention to the CATO Institute and sunsetting some of our federal agencies, instead. Her concept would have the impact of reducing warfare to a sort of prize fight - fifteen rounds and we call it a draw, no sucker punching in the clinches at Abu Ghraib.
In her most dramatic statement on the Iraq war since officially entering the 2008 presidential race, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) called for ending the 2002 authorization resolution for the war.
Clinton joined with Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.V.), a leading war opponent, in offering a proposal to "sunset" the 2002 use-of-force resolution by Oct. 11, 2007, the fifth anniversary of the Senate vote allowing President Bush to take military action against Saddam Hussein. Under the Byrd-Clinton plan, Bush would then have to return to Congress to seek new authority to conduct the war.

I'm so sick of them playing politics with the troops and the war. The tried this about two months ago and it didn't pass, not even close. There are about 54 anti-war Senators, they need 60. Clinton knows that. If she was smart she would do like Obama and keep her botoxed mouth shut.
If I'm right, the test vote went 49-48 in opposition. So, any other bright ideas Hillary? Right, she's still big on "I want to take the oil profits away from the oil companies for the greater good." Bring Hillary on. I want to see Fred! in '08. Anyone can beat that weasel Hillary, Mark Foley has higher favorables than she does.
This isn't Vietnam. You no-life, useless, braindead hippies need to get that. There's no massive uprisings. Fonda isn't killing Americans. Americans still want to see victory - just not at any cost. However, some Democrats have invested too much in defeat. They need to find a way to lose the war or else they are in big trouble for the next decade. Enter Hillary.

Hillary will do whatever it takes to get power and is a disgraceful human being. She is doing what her husband, Terry McAuliffe and the rest of the Clintonites are telling her to say.
Hillary votes for this war, but does not have the stomach to fight this enemy, like her husband did.
The Senior Democrats: Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid (the war is lost), Dick Durbin (compares our troops at Gitmo to the Nazis, Pol Pot and Soviet Gulags), Steny Hoyer, Chuck Schumer, Rahm Emmanuel (Bill Clinton Disciple), and Howard Dean lack the stomach to fight Islamic Fascism. When do they want to fight them, when Iran is fully loaded with nuclear weapons?
It's time these Liberals tell us what happens the day we leave Iraq, especially with Al Qaeda and Iran. What do the Democrats want more: the White House in 2009 or defeating Islamic Fascism now?
Quit playing politics with our troops and national security, Liberals. You guys own defeat, except Joe Lieberman.

Bring it on cowards.

The President wannabes better get their asses in gear if they are going to make any difference in Iraq because the Iraqi Parliament is planning to go on leave for two months. Don't know if they will do it or not, but the word by some of our top generals is "they go on vacation while we lose troops; something wrong with this picture." I asked my kid by text message(US Army Lt. clearing roads of IEDs and other stuff) what the military thinks about it and he responded "we will continue to do what we're ordered to do." If the Iraqi gov't goes on vacation at a time like this, I say move the troops' return date up to this weekend, or at least by the forth of July. It will be one the largest forth celebrations ever.
God bless our troops and our country.

Whoops...spelled "fourth wrong." Twice.

I agree, if the Iraq Parliament goes on vacation for more than a week we need to leave. This is not what we are fighting for.
If Iraqis aren't willing to do their part, why should we be willing to make sure that the country doesn't implode?
Two wrongs doesn't make a right, but if Iraqis won't do the right thing, I see no reason for us to.

As to the two-month leave of the Iraqi goverment, it is easy to explain. These people are muslims. They believe in their koran. Read it. Then maybe you will understand that they are working toward global dominance, any way they can. The dupes that think that it is a peacefull religion, except for the "radicals", are uninformed, blind and stupid. They (muslims) have a long history, an adgenda espoused in arabic daily to their people, and present actions that all speak loudly. They will "use" our country as long as they see fit. There will be no such thing as "victory" in Iraq. There never was a chance for democracy, (a pipe dream of the simple minded), and to try to appease them is futile. Watch what they do, not what they say.

What is the difference between Pelosi meeting with the Syrians and Fonda/Kerry meeting with the viet cong?

Ms Clinton has picked a real winner for her partner on this bill. Robert "I can quote Shakespeare, but never in the right context" Byrd. "Beelzebub...Beelzebub...Beelzebub." W. C. Fields in the film POPPY, I think.

Hobo,
It sounds as if your son has a dangerous job. I know you must be worried all the time. I don't know how a parent manages with a son or daughter off to war. How you must relish his emails!
My jaw dropped when I first heard the Iraqi government was going on a two month vacation. I still can't believe it. Is 'grateful' a part of their mindset? On the other hand, maybe with them all out of town, we can blow up some good stuff.

One of the upheavals coming to Iraq will be the Provincial Elections and the various National Parties are finding that they have very little in the way of provincial organization. If the elections can take place in AUG 07, which is more or less planned, then having a party organization on the ground is vital. Two months? Gets us through to early JUL. Elections in AUG. Maybe a month of real campaigning if they are lucky.
Now about Congress taking 3 day weeks, long vacations, short hours.... and then dropping out of sight during the summer... and winter... and then complaining of an overloaded schedule, with extra tea-time breaks. Yeah, I know a slackluster group when I see them...
