Contrast the points in the second graph:
According to two members of the House Democrat Caucus, Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer have informed them that they will "aggressively pursue" reinstatement of the so-called Fairness Doctrine over the next six months.
The decision to press for re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine now seems to have developed for two reasons. "First, [Democrats] failed on the radio airwaves with Air America, no one wanted to listen," says a senior adviser to Pelosi. "Conservative radio is a huge threat and political advantage for Republicans and we have had to find a way to limit it.
They go on to cite a potential threat from Thompson, which makes no sense in relation to the fairness doctrine. Is the argument that there should be more liberal judges on evening entertainment shows? But the real problem for the Democrats on this is, they apparently are seeing only ideology and forgetting the numbers (ratings) causing one to succeed and another to fail.
Their idea is not likely to draw anymore support from the population than did the incredible failure that was Air America. Between the Fox debate drop out and this, they are making themselves look scared and incredibly weak. And America doesn't elect weak leadership, no matter the party affiliation. This will be another major headache for the Blue Dogs, few of whom will be able to sign on to this and escape the wrath of voters.
Second, it looks like the Republicans are going to have someone in the presidential race who has access to media in ways our folks don't want, so we want to make sure the GOP has no advantages going into 2008."
That last comment appeared to be a veiled reference to former Sen. Fred Thompson, who appears to be gearing up for a presidential run. Over the past year, he has built a following both over the AM airwaves through the ABC Radio network, as well as through almost daily appearances across cable TV on the TV show Law & Order, where he plays a tough-talking district attorney.

I don't believe the Democrats intend to suppress talk radio because is dominated by conservatives.
That would be virtually impossible for the last year+ of a Bush administration. What they really want is an issue.
So they will keep complaining that a conservative dominance is proof of a wrong. A tool akin to hypnosis which the evil GOP uses to promote lies and magically deceive so many otherwise intelligent Americans.

Shorter Dhimmicrats' whine:
"Oh noes! People actually want to hear conservative talk radio! Shut'em down! Censor! Censor!".

Oh, just boo-fucking-hoo.

Will this mean that ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC AND CNN will have to put more conservatives on the air? If we could get an amendment to the bill that would allow the Republican party to pick the conservative co host for each of these networks it might be worth looking into.
OH thats right they only mean that it would apply to conservatives not liberals, silly me I forgot the lib rule that no one who disagrees with them has the right to speak.

I like your idea, SDB. Just as long as they send Hannity to another station. Ohmygod, he makes me sick.
Reality - if they pass this stupid Fairness Doctrine, they will *have* to put conservatives on all those stations. Right? :)
Then will they have an Action Committee that does nothing but monitor all TV news channels to make sure they're being fair? Oh no...then they'll have to have another Action Action Committee to monitor the Action Committee to see if any committee members have the slightest bias. This could be bad. Our taxes will go up.

Yes maybe to kill this idea all the conservatives need to do is start making noise about adding a four person watch group (2dems 2 Republicans).
This group would then get to pick who would make what ever show more fair.
I like the idea of Ann Coulter sitting right across from Rosie.

Nah, I don't think that the "People's Revolutionary Media Fairness Assurance Task Force" will give ears to anything that is less than in the full spirit of Chairwomyn Hillary's sense of leftism.
After all, we have to make up for more than eight years of unfettered Rush, and silence all other conservative voices for at least eight years to be "fair".
Posted by: seekeronos | Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 12:35 PM
Wouldn't that be 'unmuffled Rush'? Damn that PRMFATF.
Let's have an all-day Hillary Howls show on every channel. Then we'd all kill each other. Even our friends. Problem solved. Judges wouldn't convict us if we claimed HHDS. (Hillary Howls Derangement Syndrome) We'd probably get assigned to re-hab though.
I don't know about Coulter and Rosie. ew. They'd have to put Rosie in a Hannibal Lecter mask.

Well I was thinking something along the lines of Celeb Death Match kid of thing. Rosie and Ann would square off in the ring and have at it. I know Rosie out weighs Ann but I think Ann is scrappier.

If any of you think this is anything other than a sly, dastardly attempt to silence conservatives, then you are wrong. The utter, complete, disgusting hypocrisy of the Left is a sight to behold. But get ready for plenty more of the same.

"They'd have to put Rosie in a Hannibal Lecter mask."
Trying to improve her looks again, are they?

"Trying to improve her looks again, are they?"
I was thinking more that Rosie might get the hots for Ann.

Someone asked the question: "If the Democrats are afraid of Fox News, how are they going to face the terrorists?"
Posted by: N. O'Brain | Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 07:33 PM
If the democrats weren't scared of Fox News before, they are now after tonight's forum in South Carolina. Brilliant job by Fox. The dems will run from them forever - nothing could be finer. Someone got a great one-liner on Pretty Boy and the place laughed for a minute straight.
