Update: Also see Ace and Don Surber weighs in.
According to The Washington Times, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already consulted with Ross Perot and is prepared to put down $1 Billion to run for the Presidency. It stops short of saying he will run, but insiders are saying he has evaluated his options and determined he can pull it off and the bucks are set aside.
Damn, that's a lot of those funny charts ala Ross. There already is a Michael Bloomberg dot com. Welcome to the Official Site of Mike Bloomberg It doesn't say Mayor of New York. He can't run for mayor again - but his Issues section suggests he could be running for something at some point: Newsweek: The Changing Gun Debate.
News-wise, Time just happens to be asking: Will He Run? The Gothamist touts him as the non-candidate in the wake of polls that put him on top of Rudy.
Um, shout out to Hillary - you may end up shouting at Bill over this:

The Washington Times says Republicans are taking the threat seriously and McCain staffers may be jumping ship.
Bloomberg mulls a $1 billion run
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is prepared to spend an unprecedented $1 billion of his own $5.8 billion personal fortune for a third-party presidential campaign, Ralph Z. Hallow will report Tuesday in The Washington Times.
"He has set aside $1 billion to go for it," a long-time business adviser to Mr. Bloomberg tells The Times. "The thinking about where it will come from and do we have it is over, and the answer is yes, we can do it."
The $1 billion would represent about one-fifth of Mr. Bloomberg's personal fortune.
"Mike has been meeting with Ross Perot's most senior people about how they did an independent run in 1992," the Bloomberg business adviser said.

Scary business, and almost a sure thing to happen. He's got the cash (arguably the biggest part of any presidential campaign, as cash can buy media recognition that an otherwise obscure candidate might lack) and tenure as NYC mayor certainly doesn't hurt either.
But, like Rudy, he is liable to be a bit to the left on the gun issues and socially moderate if not socially liberal. And with no ugly personal skeletons (Like Rudy and his marriages/alleged roomating w/ gay men, profession of support for LGBT unions)... he has the potential to give Rudy and Hillary a run for their money (and very likely be Rudy's ruin with the 3d party spoiler vote.
That's not to say that he won't spoil the vote for the GOP in general... if he does throw in as 3d party, that will almost guarantee a Dhimmicrat win in 2008. He's almost a HIllary, but he is a bit too elite and to the right (not a George Soros) to pull in too much of the Blue Dog vote, to say nothing of the radical moonbats.
*shudder*
