IMO we need to up our military spending by perhaps at least as much as 2 percent of GDP.

Crapola, the is so much screwed up with our Military right now it's hard to know where to start.

Guess I'll start with what is not FUBAR about our armed services. We have without a doubt the best soldiers that have ever been fielded in this worlds history and they have the best equipment a soldier has ever been issued.

The problem is that the equipment is too high tech and war is taught and carried out as a bloodless computer game ran by predominately spineless wimps who fashion themselves more as CEOs of a huge corporation than warfighting leaders. We need General Pattons more than stuffed Class A "suits" right now. The "suits" are turning Iraq into another Vietnam with their politically correct BS and spending billions on less lethal and smart "weapons" for our troops who are fighting terrorists who think nothing of using children to fight for them and use suicide bombing on a daily basis.

High tech stuff is neat and sweet till you realize that in an ambush or fire fight it still comes down to you and your buddies, your rifles, grenades and guts. Yeah, we have the troops, the rifles, etc. but look at Haditha and exactly the support those marines got from the "suits" in the five sided outhouse.

If you're gonna fight a war then fight a war with everything you have and I mean everything including taking issue with the other sides control of our own media or the Democrats echoing al Qaeda's talking points.

The political side of this war should have long ago held the Iraqi government's feet to the fire over the Mahdi Army and the military should have remembered that a soldier's job is to kill the enemy and destroy their will to fight. We should have crushed the terrorists by now and brought our boys and girls home but we did this all half assed and we're being ground down by the terorist's cheerleaders (Pelosi, Reid, Murtha etal) at home.
