Ruthless People
Fortunately, US command has reversed British policy which allowed for area ceasefires in Afghanistan. The ceasefires only allowed the Taliban to regroup.
In other good news, it appears we have taken the gloves off to some degree. I only hope this necessary policy isn't reversed the first time a misjudgment leads to civilian deaths. It's an unfortunate part of every war and not fighting to win because of it does not serve the greater good.
The mission is typical of a new, aggressive, approach adopted by American forces in southern Afghanistan and particularly in Helmand, where British troops last year bore the brunt of some of the heaviest fighting since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.
American commanders believe that the uncompromising use of airpower in recent weeks has been a key factor in preventing the Taliban from launching their expected full-scale spring offensive against coalition forces and forcing them to rethink their tactics.
Good stuff with images and video and about 30 or so confirmed kills. Of course, you sense the Telegraph narrator almost pleading with the Taliban to find a way to compete with the new tactics - after all, we have to be fair, right? feh

It says:" Coalition attacks on mistakenly identified targets here, as in Iraq, have left dozens of civilians dead and wounded and can act as a recruiting sergeant(sic?) for the terrorists." A couple of thoughts. First, in Iraq the merciless and senseless killing of tens of thousands of Iraqis by the terrorists, not misidentification but deliberate, may act as a recruiting motive for the Iraq Government and help cooperation with the Coalition. Second, at least this paper is not like the goofy Lib *journalists* here who insist on calling the terrorists *insurgents*.

With big tough guys like the Boob around, I feel safe. Our newsmen couldn't go a round with him, except maybe on a dance floor.

That video's a hoot. Anyone that thinks Apaches are French still has a lot to learn about fighting. I just my added an excerpt and link to my 2007.04.29 Dem Perfidy // Islamism Delenda Est Roundup at http://www.smalltownveteran.net/bills_bites/2007/04/20070428_dem_pe_1.html.
