Rumor On VA Tech Shooter

Update: A lot of the rumor fits breaking news. One image shows another Chinese individual being cuffed, not sure why.

According to unconfirmed rumors available to The Reference Frame, the killer was a 6-foot tall male Asian - I suppose East Asian - student between 20 and 25 years from Radford University whose girlfriend from Virginia Tech dumped him two weeks ago. He had two guns (at least one of which was a 9 mm caliber handgun) and wore a vest - probably a bulletproof vest - with too much ammunition as well as a maroon cap and a black leather jacket.

That would fit with these Drudge links of travel from China. Also Radford has a Chinese studies program and is housing authorities who are engaged in the Virginia Tech investigation. That does not confirm what amounts to a rumor at this point. Radford is also offering counseling to its students.

McGlothlin Celebration Canceled
Radford University, the McGlothlin Foundation and Blue Ridge PBS have canceled the McGlothlin Celebration of Teaching, which was to be held at RU on April 17.

RU President Penelope W. Kyle said the decision was made “out of respect for our colleagues and friends at Virginia Tech in this time of tragedy.”

Counseling
The university’s counseling center in the basement of Tyler Hall will extend its hours over the next several days in response to the needs of the RU community. Questions can be directed to the counseling center at 831-5226.

Counselors are also available 24 hours a day by calling RAFT at 888-717-3333 or CONNECT at 800-284-8898.

Residence Hall Guests
Some Virginia State Police Officers will be staying in RU residence halls in vacant rooms while on special assignment to assist in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech tragedy. All are encouraged to treat them with respect and courtesy during their stay. Their role is purely to support the investigations at Virginia Tech.

I think you're right about the Radford connection. They have a big Chinese enrollment there and actually visit China on cultural trips. They also came up with the Chinese connection real quick. It had to be someone they knew. I don't think the secret will remain confidential very long. I'll bet if you email Dr. I-Ping Fu at Radford, she'll know who the shooter is.

Sad day. I worry about my own children being in college, you know, doing stupid things while drinking, initiations. But never something like this. When my youngest tells me crazy college stories, I always have to add, yeah that's funny.........but, remember to act responsible, be aware of your surroundings at all times, know how to get out of a building when you first walk through the doors. But this....... I cannot as I am sure most of us, imagine such a thing as this.
