Censorship at PBS? Who knew? A film on radical Islam has been quashed and PBS just to silence a conservative voice associated with the work. Read it all.
The producer of a tax-financed documentary on Islamic extremism claims his film has been dropped for political reasons from a television series that airs next week on more than 300 PBS stations nationwide.
Key portions of the documentary focus on Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser of Phoenix and his American Islamic Forum for Democracy, a non-profit organization of Muslim Americans who advocate patriotism, constitutional democracy and a separation of church and state.
Martyn Burke says that the Public Broadcasting Service and project managers at station WETA in Washington, D.C., excluded his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, from the series America at a Crossroads after he refused to fire two co-producers affiliated with a conservative think tank.

Jeff Bieber, WETA's executive producer for Crossroads, gave a substantially different explanation. He said Burke's film had "serious structural problems (and) . . . was irresponsible because the writing was alarmist, and it wasn't fair."
"They're crying foul, and there was no foul ball," Bieber added. "The problem is in their film."
I'm sure they'll have a spot for the film on FAUX News, say, a week before the '08 election? Perhaps PBS in engaging in super-secret evil censorship or perhaps the company just wasn't interested in another stirring rendition of "THEY WANT TO KILL US!"

It is important to remember that the left can't allow the people of this country to become aware of the growing, world wide threat of islam. So in order to do that any and all information exposing this must be suppressed. We must all become used to the new lib montra silence, deny and lie. Censor on.

""The New York Times is Shilling for the Islamists." This article, written by the Center's VP for Research Alex Alexiev, was published as a CSP Security Forum. It focuses on the way in which the New York Times shys away from directly addressing some of the worrying radical connections of so-called "moderate" American muslims."

Oh, and look, the whole organization is basically bankrolled by Scaife, the George Soros of wingnut welfare and the right-wing noise machine.

How big a check did you get cut to post this particular piece of blather, Dan?

Dan likes the wingnut welfare as it means he can avoid real work, something he's done for years!

So what Zif is saying that he thinks it's only untrue if funded by a Conservative. If Soros had sponsored something it would be the unvarnished truth. (roll eyes)
PBS biased? Who would have thought...everyone but the mentally ill like Zif and his permanently menstrating bretheren.

didn't fred barnes, mort kondracke, and pat buchanan regularly appear on one of PBS's longest running shows?

You see, LOL, that just pulls it a little bit towards the center. PBS is still way, way to the side.

TK, you hit it right on the head. Most of the Conservative posters here have been out of college for a while. We have actually lived long enough to know better than to think we know everything, unlike the little boys like Scar. You see lefties, we have actual LIFE experience. Life will be a very rude shock to these leftist children.

a bunch of whiny children incapable of thinking for themselves or even being able to see past their own noses

You know what you should do, Charles? You should cry about it. Then, perhaps, you can go down to your local university and tell all the college students who will listen to you what giant snots they are.
I know UT has a spot out on the West Mall where you can just stand up on the steps leading to the University Tower and scream angry epithets at the godless, liberal whores who are destroying our society with their godless, liberal whorish ways.
I have to say, my fondest days as an undergrad was walking through the main mall and hearing the psycho-screaming fits of the Young Conservatives or the latest traveling youth ministers come up short in sputters as your average freshman stopped them in their tracks with fact-based responses they picked up on Google off the campus Wi-Fi. If you're wondering why 70% of the 18-25 demographic self-describe themselves as Democrats, liberals, or left-leaning, this might be a hint.

It's time to ban some of these worthless trolls - let them go to HuffPo, or PuffHo as I like to call it.

"Serious structural problems" is nothing but code words for saying we don't agree with it so you're never going to see it. It's censorship, pure and simple, designed to make damned sure that only some people have a voice in the debate over Islamic extremism.
We're seeing exactly the same thing with scientist's jobs being threatened because they find problems with the so called consensus over man made global warming. Agree with us or you are out of a job. All you have to do is doubt the concept they're selling and the name calling begins. It doesn't matter that a few decades before the same people were calling for a new ice age and were dead wrong.
Freedom of speech for some but not for others. Forced control of thought by rewriting history, persuasive education, and threats. Orwell wrote about this same exact thing regarding socialism 75 years ago. We saw Hitler use the same technique in his bloody rise to power in the 1930's. Millions died as the Khmer Rouge sought to make Cambodia a workers paradise, I've walked among their bones piled high in the killing fields. It's walking amongst us here too, in the USA.
I think what gets me the most about all of this is that in every nation, in every instance, it is the college kids who embrace fascism first. Not all of them but too many. They don't understand the consequences of killing freedom of thought, of honest debate in a free society, of being wrong.

You know, Hitler went to college. What does that tell you? Why does everyone disagree with the conservative view when its so blatantly clear that conservatives - even when caught in gigantic lies, during giant governmental clusterfucks, in the middle of an endless war they started on bullshit claims and fairy-tale logic - are always right. Why do people continue to suffer repression for speaking of the infallibility of --the Pope-- the President?
Why oh why is free speech dead in this country?
"It's time to ban some of these worthless trolls - let them go to HuffPo, or PuffHo as I like to call it."
Oh yeah, that's right.
"some of my fondest days were spent banging your average freshmens' girlfriends while you idiots were googling arguments because you have no opinions or knowledge of your own"
And charles reminds us all that he is very proud of his penis. I don't know what skanky jail-bait you were banging back in college, but it looks like you're long overdue to get some action. Try to clean the mess off the keyboard, chief. You've clearly made yourself too excited.

Yeah, I know charles. Facts scare you and should not be used in common conversation. Also, Saddam had WMDs which he was hiding under his Al Qaeda club house that was being protected by UN soldiers in order to generate money to finance the next terror bombing of the Sears Tower to be carried out by the five kung-fu fanatics down in Florida. And if you refute any of that with actual data, I'm fucking your girlfriend, whom I respect.

Stuck Mojo on the job.
Open Season
Music: Ward
Lyrics: Aborn, Nelson
String Arrangement: Eric Frampton
I speak peace when peace is spoken, But I speak war when your hate is provoking, The season is open 24-7-365, Man up yo time to ride, No need to hide behind slogans of deceit, Claiming that you're a religion of peace, We just don't believe you, We can clearly see through, The madness that you're feeding your people, Jihad the cry of your unholy war, Using the willing, the weak and poor, From birth drowning in propaganda, rhetoric and slander, All we can say is damn ya
My forefathers fought and died for this here
I'm stronger than your war of fear
Are we clear?
If you step in my hood
It's understood
It's open season
I don't need a faith that's blind, Where death and hate bring me peace of mind, With views that are stuck deep in the seventh century, So much sand in your eyes to blind to see, The venom that you leaders preach, Is the path to your own destruction, Your own demise, You might say that I don't understand but your disgust for me is what I realize, Surprise!
Your homicidal ways has got the whole world watching, Whole world scoping, So if you bring it to my home base, Best believe it, The season's open
I see you, Hell yeah I see you, Motherfucker naw, I don't wanna be you, If you come to my place, I'll drop more than just some bass, Yo you'll get a taste of a, Sick motherfucker from the Dirty, I ain't worrying not a fucking bit, I'm telescoping like Hubble, Yo you in trouble, Yo on the double, I'm wild with mine, Bring that style with mine, Fuck with my family I'll end your life, Just the way it is, Just the way it be, Do you understand? No matter if you're woman or man, or child, My profile is crazy, That shit you do doesn't amaze me, I'm ready to blaze thee
I don't give a damn what god you claim, I've seen the innocent that you've slain, On my streets you're just fair game, Like a pig walk to your slaughter, The heat here is so much hotter, And my views won't teeter totter or fluctuate, Step to me you just met your fate, And I'll annihilate, With the skill of a Shogun assassin, Slicing and dicing precise with a passion, In any shape form or fashion, Bring it to my home, Welcome to the danger zone, Cause your attitude's the reason, The triggers keep squeezing, The hunt is on and it's open season
It's Open Season

Congratulations, patriots. I was just reading today's posts and have to commend you on your bravery and resolute backward thinking. Incidently, do any of you have jobs?
Charles is the winner of the Conservative Bravery Award (CBA) of the day. He ran like a scared schoolgirl from the lawlessness and Muslim domination of Astoria, Queens. He knew that the evil-doers were moving in and it was time for him to move out. His woman was in danger of being forced to wear a burka on Steinway St! The indignity!! Additionally, many madrassas have opened in Astoria over the last few years and there seem to be deadly car-bombings there daily. Congratulations on running Charles! Your cowardice was the right move!
Well cons, I will let you get back to your vigilant troop-supporting. Surge on, heroes!!!

The point is exactly why do liberals feel the need to quash this documentary? Why do they feel the need to hijack something that has an opposite view from theirs in this debate about Islamic extremism? Maybe the bigger question is why does PBS get Federal funding at all?
If PBS can't see fit to air both sides of any debate then shut down their funding. I don't want the right to dominate the subject nor do I want the left to dominate the subject, just both sides to get their air time or PBS shouldn't get any money.
Posted by: Buzzy | Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 08:39 PM
"The point is exactly why do liberals feel the need to quash this documentary?"
Perhaps because its not a documentary at all. Just a puff piece stuffed full of ignorance and right-wing "THEY WANT TO KILL US!" rhetoric, with much sound and fury but ultimately signifying nothing. PBS doesn't run documentaries on how gays caused Hurricane Katrina or why Tower 7 was demolished by super-secret CIA/Mossad agents, either, because PBS is firmly rooted in the reality-based community. Not every news station is a megaphone for Bush propoganda, even if it earns them the title of commie-lamo-fascinista-lovers.

Posted by: Phoenix | Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:23 PM
The post? Oh, that. Well, I think that PBS is wrong. They have always had a diverse lineup of shows. If they can something because it's crap thats one thing, but I would hope they wouldnt do so because of the ideology presented. I have always liked to think that PBS was above that kind of stuff.

Perhaps Ziffy, but we'll never know because PBS has decided what they want to present to the American public, what fits into their agenda, what they want US to hear.
Now a private organization, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX etc. get to present what they want, what fits their agenda, what their advertisers will pay money to pitch their product in. PBS isn't a private company, it runs off of government funds.
Fascists of all kinds don't believe that the public is smart enough to make their own decisions so the first thing they do is limit the information the public is given.
I'm conservative in many things, most things in fact but I'm positively liberal when it comes to information. That's the difference between liberal and fascist. I don't care if this documentary would turn out to attempt to prove that Bush and bin Laden conspired to do 9/11 or it blamed all the world's ills on Nancy Pelosi because I trust the American public's to come to the right consensus if given the facts, all the facts and I get downright upset when anybodies agenda gets in the way of that right.
Most folks think that freedom of speech and freedom of the press is a personal right that pertains to what they do. It really isn't, it the right to hear ideas from anyone and the right to see ideas published unfettered by anyone's agenda, right or left. Now we'll never remove individual agendas from stuff, but as long as all ideas get to be presented the mix of agendas can allow people to freely make up their minds.
