"Bush is a hypocrite. He isn't interested in diplomacy, exactly why he flatly rejected Irans overtures to his administration a few years ago. He decided they were 'evil' and so, anything they proposed, even if it had the ring of a concession was 'evil' and you don't talk to the evil do-ers. The man doesn't have the intellect or emotional maturity to be president. His reactions are universally childish and petulant."

Correct. The Bushies have exactly zero interest in solving problems; they prefer to pretend that they represent the moral will of the public, as demonstrated by their idiotic macho-isms that have yielded exactly zero positive results. Pelosi and even the GOP delegation will accomplish more in a couple days of actual informal discussion that the Bush administration has accomplished in its failed 6 years. This is why the president is whining; he is the Decider, yet a liberal WOMAN from San Fran is showing him up at home and now internationally. He reacts predictably - by stamping his foot and throwing a tantrum like the petulant and spoiled child he really is.

It is only the deluded who actually think the president is relevant these days. The U.S. and the world are just counting the days until we all get to deal with adult representatives with the capacity to restore the U.S.' standing in the world - if we haven't been undone beyond repair by the incompetent regime with which we are currently stuck.

The damage Bush has done goes farther than that. He reinforced all the prejudices about Americans around the worldL fat, stupid, can't read a map, shoot first, ask questions later. The Bush regime showed the world that our country CAN, DID and MAY AGAIN elect a nutjob twice. Why do people think the Russians are starting to sound menacing again? Why is the EU going its own way on more and more things? Does anyone think China will do the right thing? The world decided that the 800 pound gorilla may go crazy again and stay crazy for 8 years or more. Global policies, however softly and slowly, will now move toward containing American power, all the while still exploiting us however they can. Depending on the outcome of the next couple of election cycles we may get back some of our soft power that Bush threw away, but foreign governments wont' forget how in the blink of any eye the country became ruled by an incompetant fanatic.

I wonder what they are discussing? (Arab music, fade in) "Look Assad, let's not kid around. There's big bucks to be made in Frisco (yeah I know we hate that name), just ask my hubby. Now these nuts you've got here, yeah, the Hezbos, you have got to arrange a meeting with them, see. Talk things over, smooth things out. What things? I don't know, you know better than I do. See we'll never be able to get you into the big money in the Golden State with you guys both in a neck and neck weak position. One on one talks are the ticket. Now we have the 2008 election in the bag, get it? When our gal or guy gets into the Big Whitie, no more guns, just butter, baby, and Feinstein and I know how just how to get those long fingers of yours greasy."

Oh, please, nowinger, cry me a river. WaaaWaaaWaaa. No, forget that, you already have. Jesus, man, the Europeans can't even handle their own problems, much less try to do anything, and I mean anything, to solve the World's problems.

Hell, we have the British, once the greatest of all World powers, reduced to begging the Iranians to release their soldiers, who were either afraid or unwilling to prevent themselves from being kidnapped. Do you think they have any power left? How do you think the Islamists in Britain will interpret this? I know. Weakness begets more attacks, as now the Argentines have reasserted their claim to the Falkland Islands. Will another war now have to be fought because the British are seen as a weakling? See how things work. Can't you figure anything out?

And I have never thought China would do the right thing, given their leadership, and I'll just mention this one thing, the gift of MIRV warheads to China by the Clinton Administration. That might just be the single biggest gift ever given to a foreign country. But I digress.

It doesn't matter who we elect President if we lose, or abandon Iraq, as the damage will be done. The weakness of the West will just encourage more and more attacks, and Europe will implode on its own. European birthrates vs. Muslim birthrates. Where do you think this trend is going? Regardless of who gets elected as President of the US in the next few election cycles, most of Europe will be less friendly as it becomes more Muslim. Common sense should tell you that.

No, the West is in trouble, that is a fact, and it has more to do with a complete lack of will than anything else.

That's a good point and a very thorny one. Since WWII the economic and financial muscle of the U.S. has been based on the free-flow of goods and services, the overwhelming ability to attract foreign direct investment, and the overwhelming demand for our financial instruments (not just dollars). This has ceased to be the case since the Decider took over. The world is now looking for methods by which it may BYPASS involvement with the United States in economic matters, and it is doing so successfully.

The Brits haven't been a legitimate world power, either militarily or economically in 60 years. Its a testament to the reach of British culture and soft power that they've been taken seriously in the decaces since WWII.

"Now, Bashar, I've got to level with you. You are looking a little weak, you know world opinion. I tell you you need to get some Brits or Frenchies and take them hostage. No, they won't do s--t, are you kidding? And when our gal or guy is Pres, believe me we won't either. We'll just send somebody over here for a little chit chat and, you know, with a blank check or two, get me? But then you put on the tough guy act for a few days, and bingo, magnanimously let them go. You win both ways, tough guy (boo) and nice guy (hiya)."

Legal, I'm not tired of having fun all the time, but your comments on the economy since WWII are very distracting and not quite right. The efforts to bypass the US in economic matters? Do you mean to bypass our financial markets like the New York Stock Exchange? Many experts feel that's caused by over regulation, which foreign companies feel is unacceptable. What are you saying is the cause? The President? Come now.

Do the wingers not realize that the EU was created to improve Europes ability to compete with the US in the global economy?

Gee, no, do they not?

"Legal, I'm not tired of having fun all the time, but your comments on the economy since WWII are very distracting and not quite right. The efforts to bypass the US in economic matters? Do you mean to bypass our financial markets like the New York Stock Exchange? Eperts feel that's caused by over regulation, which foreign companies feel is unacceptable."

No, that's not what I'm refering to. Incidentally, many equally smart experts feel that the transprancy and relative safety of U.S. markets are precisely what attracts investment to the U.S. This is the safest place in the universe to invest. You want to see rigid markets, look at the EU and China by comparison. What I'm refering to is the shunning of the Dollar as an instrument of foreign reserves, trade in oil, etc; regional trade deals that eschew the U.S. and its conditions; China's refusal to let its currency float; China's refusal to adhere to its obligations under the IP accord under the WTO; Brazil producing 100% of its own energy; etc. Those are just off the top of my head.

"What are you saying is the cause? The President? Come now."

The cause, I believe, is an unwillingness on the rest of the world to deal with the U.S. when they are treated the way the U.S. currently treats them. They prefer to make their own way whether we approve or not, whether it is in our interest or not. And, yes, in part this is the fault of the Decider's regime.

Preposterous. The top levels of business management don't see the world as "treat me nicely or I won't do business with you." Their concern is for the business and the business and the business. And you changed your frame of reference from the President to the US. So now I'm not sure what you are saying.

Uh hey Zif, you DO KNOW that Bush is the one who sets foreign policy? Understand? Pelosi DOES NOT. Bush sent people, found the Syrians were just hoping to sucker them into falsely believing they want peace.

But because of the leftists extreme mental illness they see Syria as the honest, sincere country only wanting peace. The left is incabable of seeing anyone as a threat to America except when the "enemy" in question has an "R" after their title.

It's no wonder the left stands up for Pelosi and Syria-fascists of a feather...

when laura bush visited the middle east, she did wear a hijab
