Evidently the head of St. John the Baptist was just one of the many attractions the scarfed House Speakerette, San Fran Nanny took in while visiting Syria.

"lack of tact"
Good heavens, what's so wrong with simply describing her itinerary? Perhaps you blew the headline out of proportion?
It really sucks when people do that.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Tuesday, April 03, 2007 at 10:42 PM
aaaaaaaaaaaah! hep!
I mean.... WTF.... She goes to look at a HEAD? A goddamn HEAD. And it makes news from the ME?
Man, that does suck. I hope she had the presence of mind to ask where the rest of the good saint was. Oh, nevermind.
They'd just have blown her off.

It would be nice if she left her head in the mosque. Won't happen, nothing that ugly would be allowed full time residence. They could do us a favor and just flush it in the same brand toilet that flushed a Koran.

The leftard Speaker is a dhimmi. Quelle surprise! She plays the role effortlessly. Here is what she wants to surrender to. http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/187243.php

To date, Bush's' strategy has demonstrated what an inept leader he is. The US is in tremendous debt, he wants to spend more, he keeps rattling a sword that is likened to a string of spaghetti and tries to sound tough. Really, I used to respect the guy, but he and the US has become the joke of the Universe. It is my firm belief that the present [weak] condition of our ground forces has been planned by Bush so he will be justified in using nuclear weapons to conquer the enemy. Remember Japan.

Not just any head mind you....John the Baptists head. ARGH! that pisses me off so much. And on the topic of Pelosi.....she should be egged as soon as she steps off that plane when it touches down back ont he tarmac in the US. I mean....what the hell is she doing there? She was told NOT TO GO!

Republican members of congress have also met with Assad, but nobody called them Hanoi Jane and Bush didn't criticize them publicly. George Bush would play politics with the lives of his own children and family if he thought it would score political points and help secure a permanent Republican majority or prevent him from having to apologize for his many egregious mistakes.

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/844730.html:
//The speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus today, and will deliver a message of calm from Israel.
"We hope the message will be understood," political sources in Israel said yesterday. "The question is whether Assad is looking for an excuse ... so that he can carry out an attack against Israel in the summer, or whether this is a mistaken assessment."
Pelosi visited Israel yesterday and told her Israeli interlocutors that the country must speak with Assad and that the door should not be closed to Syria, even though she is aware that Syria supports terrorism and continued cooperation with Iran.//
http://www.back-to-iraq.com/archives/2007/04/white_house_criticizes_democra.php
//And though Bush administration officials have been criticizing Pelosi, it's not clear what role the White House and the U.S. Department of State played when U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts and two other Republican congressmen met with Syrian President Bassar Assad.
Pitts is a Chester County Republican who represents Lancaster County.
Gabe Neville, Pitts' chief of staff, said Monday the conference between Assad and the three Republicans was intended to be "low profile."
"It was done in cooperation with the administration," he said.//

"Republican members of congress have also met with Assad, but nobody called them Hanoi Jane and Bush didn't criticize them publicly."
IOKIARDI!
Besides, the Republicans went down there to throw down the gauntlet and take a hardline approach, where as Pelosi will not have left until... how did the wingers' put it? "...she's BLOWN assad..." That's right.
I wonder if the wingnuts would be using this precise sexual innuendo if Pelosi wasn't a woman? Mysongonist much?
Posted by: Zifnab | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:09 AM
Is it really a big deal that she's wearing a head scarf? When I go to a friends house for Passover I wear a yarmulke but I'm not jewish, I simply do it out of respect for their beliefs.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:14 AM
If Pelosi was a man they would be using the term 'faggot' instead, we already know they're obsessed with bjs and sex in general.
Posted by: nowinger | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:16 AM
an interesting post there, spartan, in re "respecting other's beliefs".
usually a wonderful & classy thing to do; except when dealing with halfwit devotees of a bloodthirsty pseudoreligion bent on world domination. you know: the same folks who wrap their 3-year-olds in adorable little 'kiddie-sized' semtex belts and trot them out on tv. "little abdul here will blow himself up, and bravely murder many conveniently unarmed innocents!", proud mama & dad croon. "at least, that's what we HOPE!"
why the hell should we show ANY kind of respect to folks like that? would you be calling for 'show respect to their beliefs' if assad was - like robert byrd, D., W. VA. - a proud klansman? "here: out or respect, i want you to wear this pointy white hood, ok?"
and exactly what respect has islam shown christianity of late?
Posted by: bloodrage bob | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:34 AM
Good news, my patriotic American friends: Deaths in Baghdad in March, lowest since March 2005. See Blackfive.net. Scroll down a bit. Guess we're surging on BoobinBridgeport.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:37 AM
I understand your point Bob, but we are dealing with diplomacy here. Do you think when Cheney makes trips to places like Syria, Saudi Arabia or other middle eastern countries he doesn't show respect? Do you think he goes in eating a bag of pork rinds and pissing on the Koran? No. When you are a representative of the US gov't you show people respect on their soil.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:38 AM
Sure you do, Spart. Just as Arafat did when he wore a 45 while he spoke to the UN in New York.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:42 AM
"When you are a representative of the US gov't you show people respect on their soil."
Arafat was a representative of the US gov't? Just because others don't always show respect does that mean we shouldnt? We hold ourselves up as a beacon of freedom and doing what is right, maybe it makes sense for us to hold ourselves to a higher standard.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:45 AM
Oh, Spart, and we shouldn't forget about the cab drivers who may or may not be US citizens who refuse to carry seeing eye dogs in their cabs. "Can't we all just get along?"
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:46 AM
Clearly those Cabbies are breaking the law (ADA) and should be dealt with as such. If they don't like it they can find another job. You're still not addressing the real question though are you? Should Pelosi go out of her way to insult her hosts? Do you think if Laura Bush went on such a trip with her husband that she would go scarfless?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:53 AM
That's right, Spart, let us show the most intolerant culture in the world that we will respect even the most anti-female aspects of their culture. That way we will be a bacon, I mean bunkum, I mean beacon to, to, to who was it again? That is sure to help them change their misogynist ways. Ahmadinijad said that he couldn't understand how the UK could "allow" the female hostage to be away from her small children.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:55 AM
Let me answer your question, Spart. Pelosi should not have gone there. Now please answer mine. Why did she go there? Really now, no BS. Can you honestly think of a reason?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 10:58 AM
Oh, and the second question. I would hope Mrs Bush would not wear a symbol of misogyny where ever she went.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:00 AM
Actually you didn't answer my question, rather you replaced it with an answer to your own. That said I'll do you the courtesy you would not do me and answer yours. She was doing the same thing the republicans who went for a visit the week before were doing, making diplomatic contacts. If the admin is insulted by this maybe it's because they realized they've failed and are afraid she might accomplish something they could not.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:03 AM
OK, Spart. Pelosi should have stayed out of mosques and gone bareheaded. If she insisted on going into a mosque, she should have put a 2-inch square piece of white cloth on her head when she went in and taken it off as soon as she got out. How's that?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:06 AM
Spart? Accomplish what? Just what are you thinking she might accomplish?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:07 AM
Fine, silly, but fine.
I go back to my comment about wearing a yarmulke when attending a passover dinner or entering a temple, it's simply a show of respect this is much ado about nothing.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:08 AM
As bad as I hate to admit it, Pelosi had as much right to go to Syria as the Republicans did, and if the Republicans who went there were not criticized, then Polosi should not be. Damn, that crow tasted bad!
Can't have it both ways, guys.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:08 AM
What was the republican delgation hoping to accomplish?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:09 AM
You're jumping a bit too fast, Temp. If, and I don't know this, but if the President had any part at all in the trip by Republicans, it is quite possible they may have had a message for the eye doctor. Certainly, the President would not have asked Pelosi, a sworn enemy of the President on every single issue, to carry a message to him. Even if he were to be so foolish, she would have said no and sent the whole story to the NYT.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:14 AM
"and exactly what respect has islam shown christianity of late?"
You don't sound like a Christian, Bloodrage Bob.
This is what a Christian sounds like:
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel of Matthew 5:3-10
~~~~~
LOL That Jesus! He could be a SF liberal.
Posted by: secretscream | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:15 AM
Also, a little carelessness there, Temp. The President never said she had no "right" to go there.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:16 AM
"Blessed are the pure of heart"? heh, heh. Nah.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:19 AM
Bush is a hypocrite. He isn't interested in diplomacy, exactly why he flatly rejected Irans overtures to his administration a few years ago. He decided they were 'evil' and so, anything they proposed, even if it had the ring of a concession was 'evil' and you don't talk to the evil do-ers. The man doesn't have the intellect or emotional maturity to be president. His reactions are universally childish and petulant.
Posted by: nowinger | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:24 AM
Whaaaaaaaaaaa~! There's a creepy Dick in the Bush's bushes staring at me!
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 11:37 AM
True, Fred, but it was handled wrongly if that is the case. The appearance is wrong. I just think Bush should have left this one alone, and let us have all the fun with it. j/s
"Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."... Lib version: "Render everything to Caesar. We don't believe in God." I guess even a mostly non-religious (but not anti-religion) guy like me can play that dumb game, secret.
