As optimistic as I tend to always be when it comes to America, I can't help but think that we are now facing some of the darkest hours we have known since the Civil War and the founding revolution itself. More dark even than 9/11, by far.
When I think that during a time of war we have a feckless traitor like Senator Harry Reid leading the Senate, the America I've known and have valued since my days as a young boy just can't seem the same, somehow. Make no mistake, during their day, had the Founding Fathers been saddled with an alleged leader like a Harry Reid, I suspect they would have tried and convicted him of treason before dragging him out behind some courthouse to stretch his treacherous neck.
Then there's Pelosi, a clueless, moneyed quisling unqualified to hold any position in Federal Government, but elected time and time again by a bunch of mostly anti-American losers out in San Fran. And Murtha? What a useless tub of stupefied lard is that unintelligent un-indicted ABSCAM co-conspirator.
My God - and these people, idiots mostly, and traitors all are part of our leadership today? What a sad, sad joke this country's politics have become. There is no way such dull non-stars could get or continue to be elected without corrupt party practices and tax dollar handouts to an increasingly un-self-reliant America. That they have come to represent the Democrat Party is a blight on a once vibrant two party American system that leaves only one party halfway looking out for our real interests today. And to think, when I first registered, I considered myself one. Yecch!
Like so much political dung, America must scrape this detritus from its boot in 08, relegating it to the minority where it barely belongs, or there will be no truly bright American future for our children to see. They, more than any immigrant or terrorist group, have the ability to destruct the one nation which has stood as light and freedom to the world for the last 200-plus years.
This next election may be the most important in our history. And we must turn these neo-socialist, utterly defeatist un-American losers out. The future of the world's greatest nation, if not the free world itself, may well depend upon it.

You have discerned the time we are in Dan, and written so eloquently describing it. I too- pray the Republican Party wakes up from their slumber and arises to meet head on this dark challenge that lies ahead...heaven forbid we lose in 2008-and these traitors take over the White House!

Hahahaha!! That was the funniest post yet! Darkest days, traitors, anti-american losers. This is a true flatearth manifesto. Cho's got nothing on you asshats!!! Hahahaha!!
Surge on, despondent patriots!!!

I'm buying a prayer rug and Koran just in case...
Posted by: Purple Avenger | Friday, April 20, 2007 at 09:22 PM
Well klansmanbob you can laugh all you want. As you do I want you to think about a few things. First people are not overwhelmingly happy with the Dems, they are tied with Bush for unpopularity right around the mid 30's on average. Many of the seats the Dems picked up were within the margine of error. Many of those seats were decided by less than 5,000 votes several were decided by only several hundred. Historically American people do not like a party that is supporting the US loss in war. And lastly bobinyouranidiotland people on the right who believe passionately in their cause don't go out and hold massive peace rallies, no they join millitia groups. And before you place to much faith in the police think of this , which side tends to send their children of to the millitary. A civil war or coup might not go the way the libs on this sight think it will.

"I'm buying a prayer rug and Koran just in case..."
OK, PA, but I went this afternoon and bought a Rock River R-4 in 5.56 NATO. And 1000 rounds of ammo. Just in case....the price goes up, which it is bound to after the recent events at VTU. I can't resist a good sale.
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 20, 2007 at 09:52 PM
I've already got a several thousand rounds of various stuff in stock, and enough hardware to start a small revolution, so I figured the rug and Koran were next on the list ;->
I need to replenish the 9mm ammo somewhat though. I'm fine on .308 and the 54R Dragunov stuff.
Posted by: Purple Avenger | Friday, April 20, 2007 at 11:05 PM
Tempknight: might not be a bad idea to stock up on more ammo; I am told the price will go up because of the metal, powder, etc., plus the demand for it in the Middle East war. I won't say on the Internet how much I have stocked, but .45 ball went from $12.95 to $18.95 almost overnight; LAPD special goes for $22.95 if you can get it. Avoid reloads. 12 gauge slugs went up, too. Also, consider a good scope.
If you have a picatinny rail, you can put on a 'trajeton red dot' which runs less than a laser, and is safer. Don't let the sales people oversell you with expensive lasers and under the barrel lights, though the 'red dot' is up there a bit, but worth it.
I'm serious about this, however I must be careful not to go overboard on the subject. Unfortunately, if the can pops, we may be faced with the situation of the '60s; remember Kent State and Berkeley? Civilians had to face some of their friends who were in the military sent to uphold 'the peace'.
In reference to your comment on the 5.56 NATO ammo, it may continue to be in production at the current rate, but getting it could become a problem; more is better and expect availability to diminish.
One last comment: I know many people who have enrolled in the self-defense courses put on by former mercenaries and the reports I get back is that they top out what they learned in the military and on the police force including LAPD, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Colorado, FBI and BATFE. Believe it or not, those groups are sent to some of the trainers you can find on the Internet. I know, because I have been in class with many of them. Names and locations of the training is on the Internet; I have seen some for $100 bucks a day and one in Nevada goes for $500 a day. The ones I have been through are not a case of "you get what you pay for" in most cases. Last weekend I went through training in the San Gabriel Mountains right next to the LAPD regular LE and the SWAT team and about the only thing they had on us was the larger weapons. Our training was superior and the instructor pushed us like hell, but every scratch, cut and bruise was worth it. By the way, he trained some of the LAPD and SWATers next to us.
Posted by: hobo | Friday, April 20, 2007 at 11:48 PM
Sorry, but I forgot this one: try to stay with one ammo selection. Better to have one type in ten magazines than two of this, two of that and six of that. Plus, how many types of firearms can one guy carry at one time aside from being a Special Forces, Delta, or Special Ops Commando?
Posted by: hobo | Friday, April 20, 2007 at 11:57 PM
I would disagree with your assessment strongly. But that's not my point. My point would be that the country is a mess, and the world is a mess. It is too much for one person to be CEO (President) of both domestic and foreign affairs.
Isn't it time to divide responsibilities?
A President can conduct foreign affairs. Something like a Prime Minister can conduct domestic affairs.
The two would have to work together. Such an arrangement would lessen the burden of one person needing to be expert on everything.

Traitor Harry should be forced to submit an alternate plan for Iraq, besides raising his hands and yelling that he is an abject coward who promised last fall not to mess with the budget if Majority Leader, then promptly did just that. A liar, a crook, a traitor, and of course, a Dhimmicrat.

Well Dan, the GOP isn't going to recapture conservative votes with the likes of anti gun / pro abortion Rudy or God forbid McCain. Romney is a possibility but I'd doubt he can win, ditto for Hunter and Tancredo. As for House and Senate elections the Mel Martinez RNC starves anyone who isn't an amnesty lover for cash and the GOP has been going out of its way to send their own conservative base packing. BushCo has left the GOP in a shambles and doesn't seem interested at all in pulling it back together. So exactly how are we going to take care of the socialists when half of our own party is threatening to stay home on election day.

As an intelligent person, let me be the first to tell you that you don't know jack shit about liberals, or what we believe. And why not? Well, because as I've said, you're stupid. Quayle-level stoopid.

I can't decide if it's rampant innumeracy or an inability to tell the difference between a poll and an election. In either case, as a proud native of the Great, though somewhat retarded, State of South Dakota, I apologize for the very existence of this bozo.
Time to start a movement to repeal the Second Amendment. Who's with me?
Posted by: Bob Munck | Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 05:06 PM
Hahaha....at least you propose to repeal the amendment the legal way, rather than the way of the court. But you'll change, because what you propose can't be done, so you will soon fall in line with the rest of the liberals, something about the ends justifying the means. That's the liberal way, of course.
And as a proud native of the Greatest State of them all, Texas, I will be opposing you. Along with a host of others, including the vast majority of the natives of the State of South Dakota.

"As an intelligent person...."
In your own mind, no doubt you are. But I know plenty about liberals, such as how they claim to be so tolerant, yet look at your hate-filled rant. Hypocrisy is the other great liberal trait. Do what I say, not as I do, now that's another one. Hmmm...looks like I have identified a good number of liberal traits. Oh, yeah, there's one more, they think they are intelligent, yet consistently prove themselves to some of the most ignorant, hate-filled clowns that inhabit God's green earth.
And you, sir, have proven it beyond a doubt. Thank you, and have a nice day!

Bob Munck you are a typical libral in the you only take one part of what was said and the turn it into a lie. In the sentence you quoted I was talking about polling data hence the use of the term "margin of error" that statement is absolutely correct. Many of the state that the democdrats picked up were being shown as within the margin of error according to most polls. The very next sentence, you know the one you chose not to include so you could cheaply insult me, stated:Many of those seats were decided by less than 5,000 votes several were decided by only several hundred. That sentence clearly is talking about the election results. That statement is also factually true.
So Bob Munck you are a typical lying lib who is most likely not even from South Dakota.

Ah, violent retribution fantasies. The predictable mark of panic as the scales begin to fall from the eyes of tenth-rate, illiterate wingnuts, their two-inch-thick skulls finally yielding to the hammering of reality, finally grasping the inevitable ebb of their trash-strewn tide after twenty-seven bizarro years. Welcome back to your shabby covens of 50s-era, addled, John Birchian paranoia, friends, you have a front-row seat to observe how the unstable coalition of Jesus freaks, Steve Forbes elitists, Black Helicopter-fearing militia gun-nutbags, Randall Terry-inspired domestic terrorists, bigots, homophobes, anti-intellectualists, opportunists, criminals and tobacco-stained halfwits that Reagan brought together in 1980 calves like a Greenlandic ice sheet.

southdakotaboy: "In the sentence you quoted I was talking about polling data hence the use of the term "margin of error" that statement is absolutely correct."
What you actually said: "Many of the seats the Dems picked up were within the margine of error." Note no use of the words "polls" or "polling data" and the very next sentence talks about seats being "decided." You don't "pick up" seats in a poll, and polls don't "decide" anything; you were talking about elections.
"So Bob Munck you are a typical lying lib who is most likely not even from South Dakota." Born Fall River Hospital, Hot Springs. My grandparents all worked at the VA hospital on Battle Mountain. Earlier ancestors owned and operated Evans Plunge. My mother went to Yankton College and my father to the SD School of Mines in Rapid City. Why would anyone lie about being from South Dakota?
templar knight: "And as a proud native of the Greatest State of them all, Texas," Yeah, I've lived in Texas too -- Lufkin. "Greatest State" only if your criteria set involves insects.

I've always thought of Texas as the "Rootenist-Tootenist State East, West, North, and South of the Pecos"
/* fires matching pair of six guns for dramatic effect */
Ok... maybe it's only a Rooten'-and-a-Tooten' East and North of the Pecos, that is, until it gets swallowed up by the new Empire of Aztlan by 2020.
Posted by: seekeronos | Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 12:54 AM
99% of the Mexicans in Texas don't want anything to do with the Aztlan goofballs, seek, as that is mainly, not completely, mind you, but mainly a California phenomena.
And Bob, from East to West, North to South, no other state compares to Texas. If you like cities, man, we got 'em, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Amarillo and a host of others. We got cowboys, and Indians, and the plains of W. Texas and the Piney Woods of E. Texas. And cows, and horses, and rivers, and mountains, and deserts, and swamps, and you name it. We have snow in the panhandle and a beach on the SE coast. I sound like a Texas commercial, but what a wonderful state Texas is. Man, it's in your blood. And the women are also THE most beautiful in the World. Yee haw!

sorry, TK, but the most beautiful, stunning, jaw-dropping gorgeous women in the world are from.....florida. and it's not even *close*.
being from tejas, it pains me to say it....but we gotta speak the truth. audie murphy didn't lie; and...neither will (any real texan).
Posted by: bloodrage bob | Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 01:20 AM
bb, wouldn't know too much about Florida, wouldn't care to know too much, already know enough to convince me you were on some of that stuff the Coast Guard interdicts off the Florida coast when you said the above. I spent one summer working in Abilene at McMurry College, and wow. Add Abilene Christian and Hardin-Simmons, and I was as close to Heaven as a boy gets on this Earth.
And I'm not shortchanging those Florida girls, as I've never been south of Orlando, but I didn't see any girls in the Redneck Riviera that rivaled what I have seen in Texas. And the beautiful girls I saw there were just about all from Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia. A few Northern girls, but they just don't cut it.
Posted by: templar knight | Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 02:10 AM
bloodrage bob,
When you speak of "the most beautiful, stunning, jaw-dropping gorgeous women in the world are from.....florida" - you are, of course, speaking of the Cuban women, right?
djangone,
I'm glad to hear that you're NOT an "anti-intellectualist", 'cause I'm sure you're anxious to read the scientific EVIDENCE that, in fact, the Greenlandic ice sheet is NOT, in fact, "caving"...
I’m sorry, I'm sure you've already read the report (http://www.co2science.org/scripts/CO2ScienceB2C/articles/V8/N44/C1.jsp) where they demonstrate that, in point of FACT, the "Greenland Ice Sheet continues to ACCUMULATE mass".
I'm SURE you're familiar with the scientific DATA which shows that "Spatially averaged over the bulk of the ice sheet, the net result is a mean INCREASE of 5.4 ± 0.2 cm/year, or ~60 cm over 11 years, or ~54 cm when corrected for isostatic uplift."
You couldn't possibly be a John Kerry elitist, John Edwards ($400.00 hair cut) two Americas hypocrite, Global Warming fear mongering opportunist, AlGore believing halfwit, could you?
Oh and on the subject of Bigots (and let's not forget Racists), you're not a Don Imus nappy-headed ho Liberal, are you?
Answer me this... WHY is it that LIBERALS (or is that NEO-PROGS) are always the FIRST to want to categorize and characterize people by their sexual preference, ethnicity, shin tone, religious belief (if any), national origin, etc.?
It has always been MY experience that Conservatives (yes, even Neo-Cons), who live up to Dr. Martin Luther King's ideals of judging someone by the content of their character, NOT the color of their skin... Too bad Liberals haven't been able to see past THEIR prejudices, and to accept people as themselves (rather than as members of this group, or that group).
Posted by: wardmd | Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 08:15 PM
TK and BB:
In my experience, I've found that Southern women in general were on the average, more attractive than the North. I think it could be more the case that it is less a matter of just physical beauty, but also the complete package - folks from the South have a greater connection to thier heritage, and seem more willing to keep it, whereas in the "yankee states", we've mixed and matched and adopted every strange new brewed thinking that percolates from the poisoned wells of knowledge and Official Liberal Dogma (TM).
In other words, the South is still a place where one can buy a house without a king's ransom, be greeted cheerfully by neighbors and townsfolk, expect to have a door held open for you if a lady, a kiss and a warm dinner waiting for you, made by your loving wife when you get home, and kids less likely to sass you for whatever reason.
I'll say it's a draw for me for the TX/FL debate. Both states have an ample supply of attractive young lasses.
WardMD: I won't knock the Cuban ladies. :)
As for Liberals and Identity Politics... they INVENTED that game, you know... the game of "Who's the Victim Now?".
Bleccch.

Posted by: Pedantic One | Monday, April 23, 2007 at 05:29 PM
seekeronos,
I'm not knocking (er, perhaps I should use a different word there) ANY women from ANY state of ANY ethnic backround...
We're blessed to live in a country that welcomes people from ALL nations of the world, and, luckily, WOMEN are a part of that immigrant population.
Living in "the greater Los Angeles area" of Southern California, I can attest to the plethora of attractive women of ALL ethic origins who have taken up residency here. Again, I'm not saying "LA's women are better than yours", I'm merely pointing out that there are an ENORMOUS number of attractive (and well mannered) women all over this great country.
I thank God, they live HERE (and that I do, as well).
