Update: The early returns are in! LOL
Matt Stoller / MyDD: Dear Senator Obama: You are NOT just an observer
Kos / Daily Kos: Obama caves to Bush
Richard Blair / All Spin Zone: Iraq Timeline & Chickens**t Dems - What Don't They Understand????
The prospect of the first chocolate President may not be tasting so sweet to the nutroots now:
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - If President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to because no lawmaker "wants to play chicken with our troops," Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) said Sunday.
That isn't going to sit well with the Cindy Sheehan wing of the Democrat Party. Funny how stumping in the Midwest can pull a liberal toward the center. This may also put some pressure on Hillary to get all troop supportin' in a hurry, too. That means any Dem front runner for 08 would be agreeing to fund Bush's war.
And here I thought the people had spoken? ha! Maybe Pelosi just can't hear them real clear, being in Syria and all.

Ok liberal heroes, your man is getting wobbly.Better jump on it!

Meanwhile, the Manly Hetero Tradition party's frontrunner lives with "practicing homosexuals" and dresses like a woman.

"chocolate" president? YOU RACIST BASTARD RETHUGLICAN!!!
Posted by: vetter | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 08:14 PM
I was under the impression that Barack Obama positioned himself as a moderate Democrat. Among the presidential candidates, I believe that only Kucininch is anti-war.
Posted by: noodles | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 08:48 PM
Kucinich is pro-batshit crazy.
But virtually every Dem Presidential contender is for some form of withdrawl or draw-down.
Still, Obama will have to take this up with Murtha and the rest. I don't think a veto is going to save Bush any trouble. At best he's just postponing the inevitable. We'll be on our way out in '08 because the Republicans just won't be able to handle another election like '06.

The cowardly male cheerleader can veto whatever he wants. The point is that this is Bush's Failed Iraq Adventure. Voters will remember that in 08, just like they did last November. Good luck with that surge, heros!
Posted by: BobInStamford | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 09:32 PM
So, BobinSamford --- what you're saying is that you hope the surge fails? You won't mind if I question your patriotism, then?
Posted by: Robbie | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 09:45 PM
Hope that the surge fails?? How can this nonsense EVER succeed. Bush's Iraq Adventure was lost years ago. Wasted $$ and resources.
Posted by: BobInStamford | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 09:50 PM
Bob,maybe the Jihadis will keep you for entertain purposes.
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 09:57 PM
Notice al Qaeda Bob never denied hoping the surge failed.
As for Obama, at least he doesn't want to play chicken with troops lives, which is more than I can say for a lot of them. Obama trumped Hillary on this one and positions himself for a lot of blue dog votes, maybe a surge in his poll numbers.

BiS is in full standard: "Wasted $$ and resources"
when's the last time the porker Libs lamented wasted $ or resources? What an asshole-- a liar a misanthrope and a fool. All BiS offers is hate, hate, hate: Hate America first, the rest will fall into place. Jackass. Move to Portland, OR, I will "help" you face reality...

"The point is that this is Bush's Failed Iraq Adventure. Voters will remember that in 08"
I have to agree with BobinStamford. I bet not a single American will vote for Bush in 2008.

You know what we should do? We should pull our forces out of Iraq and re-invade Vietnam, just to prove that we totally could have won that if we'd stuck it out a bit longer.
Posted by: Zifnab | Sunday, April 01, 2007 at 10:44 PM
Zippy, you guys just love you some Vietnem, dontcha? Ya'll's finest hour, what with 2M+ of those filthy "orietals" getting killed, right You libs are so f*cking sick! You just will never be happy until every "off-colour" person is killed. will ya!
The lib mind: SICK

The new left is much happier killing babies and women in comas than terrorists. Much more their style.

Wow How do all of you find so much time to post when your fighting in Iraq.
Well looky here. Youre not in Iraq.
With all the tough typing Repugs you would think the Amry would have plenty of rest between deployments.
Whats wrong with this picture you cowards.

Been to Iraq once in Desert Storm and Afghanistan twice azzwipe, didn't see you over there did I. Didn't think so.
Posted by: Buzzy | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 04:39 AM
You didn't see any libs in Iraq or anywhere that requires cajones because they don't fight for ANYTHING at all, Buzzy. They're too busy pooping on the American flag because they're so "patriotic" and love their country. Isn't it funny when libtards call others cowards? Particularly the ones who sign up for military service for the free ride to college, (because their parents - big surprise - were too fiscally negligent to save for their education,) then chicken out because they're scared of doing anything they don't choose to do (see Lt. Watada, among others). How stupid are you libtards? Write this down; when you VOLUNTEER for the service, you may have to fight in a war. It's not your lazy mother and fathers house where you can pick and choose your chores, or just leave crap around your junky-ghetto house, they train you with a gun to FIGHT IN A WAR. And WTF have they EVER done that was brave? I suggest you shut your piehole until you've been in Iraq and can say something intelligent about it. That Chickenhawk argument is played out, a-hole. Try something else.

You're a real brainy guy, langx. And a chicken shit to boot. Now get back to your bong, and let us men do the talking, little boy.

PWNED!
http://feingold.senate.gov/~feingold/releases/07/20070402.html
"Washington D.C. - U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced today that they are introducing legislation that will effectively end the current military mission in Iraq and begin the redeployment of U.S. forces. The bill requires the President to begin safely redeploying U.S. troops from Iraq 120 days from enactment, as required by the emergency supplemental spending bill the Senate passed last week. The bill ends funding for the war, with three narrow exceptions, effective March 31, 2008.
“I am pleased to cosponsor Senator Feingold’s important legislation,” Reid said. “I believe it is consistent with the language included in the supplemental appropriations bill passed by a bipartisan majority of the Senate. If the President vetoes the supplemental appropriations bill and continues to resist changing course in Iraq, I will work to ensure this legislation receives a vote in the Senate in the next work period.”"
Put out or get out folks. It's only going to get rougher from here.

Zif, you poor sap. These two professional Lefties are pulling the wool over your eyes to keep you voting Demo. They know the Pres will just veto this defeatist and unpatriotic, as well as inhumane, bill. They also know they do not have the votes to override.

"You didn't see any libs in Iraq or anywhere that requires cajones because they don't fight for ANYTHING at all, Buzzy."
And I didn't see any of you wingnuts in Selma. So we're even.
