In his attempt to dismiss us, Mr. Rove turned to head toward his table, but as soon as he did so, Sheryl reached out to touch his arm. Karl swung around and spat, "Don't touch me." How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow? Unphased, Sheryl abruptly responded, "You can't speak to us like that, you work for us." Karl then quipped, "I don't work for you, I work for the American people." To which Sheryl promptly reminded him, "We are the American people."
The Hollywood types are so full of themselves, it cracks me up. At HuffPo, Laurie David and Sheryl Crow now fancy themselves as Thelma and Louise.
How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow?
Clue up, Sheryl. I remember when you started out. You can halfway sing, but you're still just another bony-assed skank cleaned up by the music biz. You looked so hard when you first came up, I doubt you'd have built much of a line around a trailer in Missouri, even at 10 bucks a pop.
Rove was probably worried about STD's. Who knows, what with the company she keeps.
Shut up and sing ... better, yet, just shut up!

just who the hell does rove think he IS, anyway? a screechy former-michael-jackson-backup singer dumped by a famous bike racer? an untalented housewife married to a hollywood rich guy?
man acts like he's a *celebrity*, for pete's sake. the NERVE!

"there is no need to trash her career"
I'm aware of her upbringing - funny how she became more popular in the music biz dependent upon who she was putting out for, or did you skip over that part? As far as trashing her career, what career? She's a B rate songstress looking to do a country album? Good luck with that. Her "career" never impressed me very much. But then I don't get worked up over every pop artist who comes along. I suppose she's the equivalent of Joni Mitchell for the Left today. How sad. At least Mitchell was an original with an actual thought between her ears and didn't need to spread her legs in her PR snaps to become famous.

What would the people on the left be saying if it had been Karl who had gone up to Crow and Company and started to harras them? This country needs to get back to the idea that if its wrong for one person to do something then it is wrong for a person on the other side to do it as well.

From Instapundit this morning on Ms. Crow's sidekick:
"Even worse is [Laurie] David's chic but hypocritical environmentalism at her summer home in Martha's Vineyard. She was issued a 'notice of apparent violations' for building a 26-foot-long barbecue station, stone-and-concrete bonfire pit, and outdoor theater on an environmentally sensitive patch of their 14-acre North Road property without the proper permits. They were also cited for tearing up protected vegetation to make way for a lush, sodded lawn, among other crimes against nature.
"The commission has since ordered her to remove the offending structures and restore the area to its previous state. All these violations were allegedly done to prepare for a political fundraiser hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (another faux Green). Alas, there's no such thing as cheap environmentalism on the Vineyard.
"Laurie David has been labeled a 'Gulfstream liberal' by Eric Alterman, himself a proud member of the Left and a regular columnist for the Nation. He recognizes that Ms. David's brand of environmentalism is nothing more than a facade, a distraction from the financially secure yet intellectually boring life of the fabulously wealthy. But this hobby has dire consequences for the rest of us."

Yes. How dare anyone approach a paid public official, with a matter of public concern - in public. If your pasty, unsightly, and cowardly heros are affraid to be confronted in public for their policies, perhaps they should remain hidden in their basements.

"Legalize are you on the clock all the time?"
Pretty much; I earn a sallary, which means when my employers say "jump" I ask "how high?" I, unlike Rove, am not on the public payroll, however.
"Even a public servant has the right to be off the clock at somepoint during the day."
No one was asking him to perform tasks pursuant to his public employment; he was merely asked questions at a public event. Rove, predictably, reacted like a petulant baby when confronted. He's a fucking public figure - out in public, among members of the public, being asked questions of public concern, of which his own policies have had an effect. They weren't prank calling him at home at 3 am inquiring if his refrigerator was running.
"Anyway that is just trying to deflect blame away from what they did."
Yes. They dared to ask the man a question. The horror. I forgot; you guys hate oversight though.
"What if it had been a conservative celeb. who had mad a point to go up to a Democrat at this function and started to harras them. What kind of outrage would we be hearing from the msm?"
The "celeb: stauts of Crow is wholly irrelevant; she is a member of the public. You see, contrary to how you, Bill0, and Malkin "think," most people don't whine about "harrassment" when public officials are asked questions in public, by members of the public who pay their sallary.
Again, if your whimpy heros are affraid of public questioning, they really should remain hidden in their basements.

And maybe another link where it says that when asked whether or not she wanted them arrested, she said "No." I'm sure you can find the proof. Do tell, good sir. OK. I'll break it down for you so that even a self-inflated graduate of a law school could understand it:
You somehow equated Karl Rove's general lack of attractiveness (calling him "pasty, unsightly, and cowardly") to your argument that being mean and curt to rude, pretentious semi-talented "celebrities" is something that public officials shouldn't do.
My question to you is: if he (Karl Rove) was a fitness-model studmuffin could he have gotten away with it then?
Now I'd bet that if it was some overweight bloaty 38 y.o. office worker with bad hair who had mouthed of to the Rovinator, you wouldn't have given it a thought. But *gasp*! Not Sheryl Crow!
It seems that among Liberals, that physical beauty goes a long way to making up for other deficits of intelligence and/or morality.

It is most easily done if you have Asian character support enabled, and can switch to Kanji/Hanja input mode: I type a lot of stuff in Japanese, so using the Input Method Editor (IME) to type in "onpu", the convertor will turn it into a musical note.
You could also use the character map tool to try and locate it as well, using an Asian double-byte typeface.
As for MACs... there might be some other MAC-specific characters maps (such as how one types the "command key" symbol) to choose from. I'm not too up on MACs though.
My wife's MacBook is enabled with Japanese input, and I think in the Internationalization settings, it is pretty easy to set up Japanese input support.

And nowhere in your link, posted on the website of the group with an interest in the outcome of the discussion, does it state that Pelosi "had" anyone arrested. "Well legalize who called the Capital Police? If it was her staff who do you think told them to, the tooth fairy. Her staff wouldn't have done squat without her orders."
I'm sick of reading and explaining your links for you. The story doesn't say that her staff called the Police; it says they were present when the Police arrived. It also doesn't say whether or not Pelosi was even present. You are aware that one does not have to call the Police in order for them to arrive? You are also aware that the Capital Police are present at all federal office buildings, i.e. they do not have to be summoned in order to act; it's like part of their job and stuff. You are futher aware that arrests are documented and a part of the public record, as are documents indicating who called the police if anyone.
"She ordered it and you know it, denying it is just an attempt by you to weasle out of the fact that the Dems are totalitarian thugs who don't believe in freedom of speach or any part of the constitution they don't like."
No. I'm just not willing to invent stories and accusations without any basis for making my assumptions. Just because you automatically assume what you seek to prove - over and over and over and over and over - does not mean your delusions are in fact accurate. EVEN IF Pelosi called the police, the story - TO WHICH YOU LINKED - describes that the woman who was arrested was shouting in a federal office building and that approximately 30 protestors were present at the time. I know you are not familiar with large buildings, being that you live in an adobe hut in an irrelevant and backward state, but if people behave like that when they enter federal buildings, they are likely going to be pinched - which was exactly the woman's point.
So, if you have anything other than "you know its true even though I can't prove it" arguments, feel free to offer them. Absent that, please purchase a clue.

I still don't get it. Because you disagree with a person's politics, her career and her work are trashed in the most crude ways possible. Is this what passes for intelligent discussion these days? Lewd insults rather than informed discourse?
I know it takes alot more thought to actually put together a cohesive argument, and but only a moment to propagate some trashy rumors. So we go with the easy trash.
Anyone with an 8th grade education can discredit the person rather than use cogent arguments to counter her position. But I am afraid this is what public discourse has devolved to these sorry days.

Posted by: templar knight | Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 10:45 AM
i think you "don't get it", grg, because you don't *want to* get it. let's change the players around some: james carville, say, is trying to enjoy himself at a washington political gala. it's a party; good time; all that.
suddenly, amy grant and her friend, unknown rich housewife jane doe, come up to him and start chewing him out - loudly and in public - about abortion. "you're killing babies!" they screech loudly for the benefit of the press in the room.
carville doesn't need this: it's *supposed to be* a party. you're *supposed to* check your politics at the door. so he tells 'em to take a hike. ohhhhh nooooo: the rabid pro-lifers feel that normal rules of civilized behavior don't apply to THEM: so they grab his arm and continue their pontifications. and then go report their good deeds to an adoring press.
the liberals, rightly, would go nuts. and vilify amy grant as a "famous fornicatrix", etc etc. for about the next 10 years, in fact.
i suspect you'd "get" THAT.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I don't know about you, but if you so much as point your finger at a cop and inadvertently touch him (a.k.a. "poke")... not only will he have the right to put your face in the dirt and your hands in cuffs... but you will be most likely be charged with "Assaulting a Police Officer", at the very least.
If that is truly the case, then Rove could well press charges (however silly or petty that might seem is irrelevant; I'm sure that he has way more ability to press charges and have the arresting officers take him seriously than not) against Ms. Crow.
Especially since it could easily fall under the rubric of "assaulting a public official", which I am sure we both agree that Mr. Rove is at the time of this incident.
