I won't embed them, just link them if anyone wants them. The problem isn't finding them, but leaving out too many and deciding on an order - so these aren't ranked.
Incredibly touching ... why wasn't God watching, why wasn't God listening, why wasn't God there ... for Georgia Lee?
Lawd didn't think I'd find this: Come down from the cross, we can use the wood - Come On Up To The House
Waits live and at his story telling best - worth it just for that, then the incredible Jersey Girl (live)
Without love, it ain't nothin but a house, a house here nobody lives
Well, the police at the station and they don't look friendly .... classic, what else can I say? Cold Water
Awesome version of Waltzing Matilda - Tom Traubert's Blues
Weak recording of a great song: Never saw the East Coast til I moved to the West, Never saw the moonlight until it shone off of your breast ... San Diego Serenade
take the spokes from your wheelchair
and a magpies wings
and tie em to your shoulders and your feet
i'll steal a hacksaw from my dad
and cut the braces off your legs
and we'll bury them tonight in the cornfield

Hadn't listened to Waits for a long while till your earlier post. Spent the last few hours playing catch up, first on some I have at home then more on Utube.
Long story short, I finally worked myself up to Ledd Zepp "When the Levee Breaks".

ummmmmmm, i dunno about this tom waits fixation, riehl. try as i might, can't see much difference between waits and the squeegee guy who hums as he works on your winshield at the red light.
well, except for the squeegee guy staying on key, of course. if 'massively talented gentle rock poet' jackson browne (don't blame *me*: that's what it says on his business cards) hit the bottle and ended up on skid row; looking out at the busy world going about its business and not seeing him; finding beauty where he can: in the alleys & the dumpsters, in the winos crapping & screwing on the curbs; in the fragile glory of a sunbeam prismed by an empty bottle of ripple........
we'd still make fun of him for being a dipshit. tom waits is different how?
let us therefore agree to disagree.

Here's the original version of "when the levee breaks" by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy a whole lot earlier than Ledd Zepp's version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmZmINVE55I

Well, I'd hope he could kick Jackson Browne ass - as Brown especially likes to work out on women. But, aside from that, I'm not nominating Waits for anything political. But I actually like his music for the very feel of the street you mentioned. Sort of the contemporary Bukowski. But disagreeing on music is fine. Politics are just a bit more important.

Hope you like SRV Dan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBIbJKjAZQ

Oh yeah. I like Albert King, too. I think I posted something with them together. Neither Albert nor SRV received all the attention they could have.

Dammitall, Dan - I come here to see the monkeys fling poo at each other, not to admire the host's taste in music.

ha ha ha......... Funniest post/comments ever! I listened to them all for Dan's sake and ended up digging up Christina Aguilera's tribute to James Brown at this year's Grammies. I was moved. I mean it.
I like this song-trading. Check this amazing performance out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh2Yxp6q2h0

Looks like Sharpton and Jackson spanked Imus good. He's done two mea culpas.
I think we should have a Mea Culpa Holiday where everyone in the country says I'm sorry for being an insensitive jerk. Then we could get it over with.
I don't like what he said, I can't stand the jackass, but let's roll past this crap. How about taking South Park off the air and demanding Archie Bunker files be burned at a street rally? Then maybe the walls of our egos won't cave in on us when we get offended. Jaysus!
Oh, and spank Small Balls in Stamford so that his fat ass cheeks turn to nuggets.
