Heartbreak The Democrats really are pathetic. It's illegal because Bush did it, oh, but wait, it's a common maneuver. ha ha ha Maybe if the losers had stuck around and done their job by passing a clean supplemental, Bush wouldn't have poked 'em in the eye.
Democrats Outraged Over Fox Recess Appointment
Senate Democrats are livid over what they view as President Bush's illegal maneuver to bypass the Senate confirmation process and appoint controversial nominee Sam Fox as ambassador to Belgium while Congress is away on recess.
Democrats find the recess appointment -- a common maneuver by presidents whose nominees stand little chance of getting through the standard confirmation process -- particularly egregious since Fox's nomination wasn't even pending. The White House withdrew the nomination last week, anticipating it didn't have enough votes for approval.
Time to bring back my Kerry tribute video. He's probably off somewhere crying in his latte.

Geez... is this what passes for a triumph these days? The Democrats can't stop Bush from wiping his ass, either, but that doesn't mean it merits a celebratory blog post.
Of course, since this was pure nepotism and anti-democratic, it's an even more laughable celebration than most "diamonds in the rough" that you 28 percenters seize upon in a vain and pathetic attempt to prove that somebody, somewhere, respects this lamest of lame duck presidents. After all, you guys still think people liked Harriet Miers...

Scar,
I bet you think Grape Nuts is an STD.

Now if the whole story was about this Sam Fox, I wouldn't object:

But I guess that would be too much to hope for.
Anyway, I'm glad our prime minister (we don't have a president here) can't just give one of his buddies a job while blatantly circumventing parliament. And yes, I know it's common practice for both parties, but that doesn't make it any more democratic. It's just a tool to use to poke the other party in the eye.

I think the President just saved the Senate from setting an unsavory precident here. If a donation to a political group is an ambassadorial disqualifier, then future occupants of the Oval Office will find it difficult to find any ambassadors at all.

Something to be noted is that this appointment, and the hubbub it's generating, will distract attention from the Gonzales controversy. Sounds like a move invented by... Karl Rove (since the President himself has no brain, just the stem).

Wow, another victory for the cowardly male cheerleader. Such a valiant "War President" and decider. America salutes him and the rest of you patriotic cons. Surge on!

Random, excellent point that the MSM missed in this appointment. BTW, folks, if you go to Randomnumbers.us you will see the best designed t-shirt ever in the universe. He/she and I don't know each other, but he/she might be a fan (If a fan, I hope it's a she.)

Look everyone BobtheKlansmeninStamford can say something other than racial slurs about Arabs and muslims. To bad all he can say is his same old tired "surge on" line. What a Loser with a capital L.

"Wow, another victory for the cowardly male cheerleader. Such a valiant "War President" and decider. America salutes him and the rest of you patriotic cons. Surge on!"
So you must be some seriously decorated war hero, eh Bob? Suuuuuure you are. You're just another coward who would never say this to anyone's face. I bet the worst danger you ever faced was crossing the street without mommy's permission.

Cowardly male cheerleader - now THAT is funny. What a silly stuttering buffoon you backward cons support. "War President" - how embarrassing. Hahaha!!!

HR, BrainlessBob is an uneducated clown, and he proves it on every post. I think he is a gay cheerleader that jumps from one conservative blog to another, flings his droppings at the wall, and hopes some poor soul comes along with a mind as weak as his, like Victor, for example. That's it, Bobby. Gay on!

no more significant than going & getting a cup of coffee. still, anything that reduces that pompous ass kerry to impotent outraged stuttering can't be a *bad* thing.
"hey, senator kerry! why the long face?"

"What a silly stuttering buffoon you backward cons support."
Says the little boy who supports Kennedy, Kerry, Gore, Pelosi, etc. You have no place to criticize ANYONE for who they support.
Bitch in stamford can only hurl insults because he knows deep down that he's wrong. That's why he's so angry. Reality doesn't match his fantasy.
Posted by: Hard Right | Thursday, April 05, 2007 at 11:09 AM
So sad. So angry. Your silly war is lost, bin Laden has yet to be "smoked out" and "brought to justice" and your 'leader' is a stammering disgrace.
I love the redneck 'templar knight' who likes to call people 'gay'. Perhaps he should dress up like a cowboy just like his leader and 'clear brush'. Such manly work (snicker).
Posted by: Victor | Thursday, April 05, 2007 at 11:18 AM
If he doesn't clear the brush it's going to follow him back to Washington.

" To fight the Fox appointment, Democrats are questioning the Bush administration's plan to have Fox serve in a voluntary capacity -- receiving no pay for his duties as ambassador. This is an important legal technicality, as federal law prohibits "payment of services" for certain recess appointments. However, if the recess appointee in question agrees that he or she will take an unpaid position and not sue the government at a later date for compensation, then the appointment can go forward, at least as the White House sees it.
So as long as Fox -- a multi-millionaire -- agreed not to sue the Bush administration later for not paying him, the White House would be comfortable with giving him an unpaid, "voluntary service" recess appointment as ambassador to Belgium.
But here's the rub that makes Democrats view Bush's recess appointment of Fox as a major-league no-no: Federal law prohibits "voluntary service" in cases where the position in question has a fixed rate of pay, as an ambassadorship does. That's how the Government Accountability Office, an arm of the Democratic-controlled Congress, interprets the law [...]
"How to reconcile this clear conflict between the pay restriction, which says that Fox cannot be paid, with the voluntary services provision, which says that the State Department cannot accept voluntary services from Fox?" queried one senior Democratic aide who asked for anonymity to speak frankly about the matter.
"That is the $64,000 question," he added."
This is where someone chimes in that "Clinton did it too!"
Posted by: Zifnab | Thursday, April 05, 2007 at 12:36 PM
no no: clinton did MUCH worse things.
in fact, last i checked, he's never actually technically DENIED raping brodderick. naturally, you idiots still love him. "that horny rascal! *HE* sure didn't take 'no' for an answer!"
