The answer is NO..........hell, America is not ready for a female president, simply because there are no real women in the race. What Katie is really afraid to ask, is America ready for a black president? Still the answer is no.

I heard that Obama's mother was an athiest and his father a Muslim. Might have heard wrong though.
Seems that Obama will pray with just about anyone to anyone. Training for politics since an early age.

Does he frighten you all so much that you have to sling such mud around?

I'm told Obama tortured small animals as a child and liked to beat up hobos as a teen. I'm pretty sure there's a stash of bodies buried under his porch too.

If you patriots can vote for a stutterng former male cheerleader who dresses up in silly costumes (cowboy, fighter pilot) and loses wars to 3rd world countries I'd say America is ready for anything.
PS - the SURGE is NOT working.

But seriously, if there's one thing I've learned its that calling 19-year-old basketball stars "nappy-headed hoes" because they made it to the national championships is exactly the same thing as having a conversation with a rap star. Obama is such a hypocrite. I'm only going to vote for old white pro-choice Republicans (like there's another option!) in '08 because... well... because as a Republican that's really my only choice.
Posted by: Zifnab | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 10:11 AM
Poor Charles. Angry coward at a keyboard. Scared of brown people and goats.
Posted by: Kelvin | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 10:13 AM
Let's see, Ziffy. Let me make this easy for you. Rappers routinely use terms such as "nappy", nigga, niggers, hos, bitches, etc. If one is to be consistent, it would be proper to criticize these rappers for their disrespect toward our sisters and daughters. It's called a double standard, and you libs usually just can't stand those. I wonder what is different this time.

First off Klansmaninstamford the war hasn't been lost. If you equate one successful suicide attack in 4 years a victory, you have some rather interesting standards for victory and defeat.
Wars are long bloody messes. It will take time to get things up and running to be compairable to the US. We have had troops in Japan and Germany for going on 62 years now. If it takes that long to get this job done right then thats how long it takes. If we get this right we can make the world a much safer and happier place for untold generations to come.

"There's only one reason Couric would push this sludge; she's on Hillary's team."
She must have interviewed Rush Limbaugh her first week on the show because she was on Hillary's team too.
Yeah, Katie Couric is NOT a Republican. Please avert your eyes to the obvious.

Agreed, Fred.
Frankly, Obama's diverse upbringing is a plus in my mind. Just think how he can defray accusations of "Hearing the word of God to make his decisions for him." "Bush gets his talking points through God." Obama could laugh that off with a flip of his hand and say, "Yo...what God are you talking about this time? I know 'em all, dude. Want to make something of it? By the way, I'm black."

The question is, does Obama scare Hillary so much that she has to have Katie sling this mud around. The answer is obviously YES.
Posted by: Buzzy | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 01:02 PM
The Clintons always played dirty, you don't have to be a winger to understand that or remember it. I agree that Hillary must be scared of Obama, the attacks on him don't make sense coming from the right wing, none of the wingers will vote for him anyway, they think he's a Manchurian Candidate for the muslims. The attacks on Obama can ONLY be coming from Hillary.
Posted by: nowinger | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 01:09 PM
This infighting amoung the Dems is only going to get much worse. They will go after each other with the most vile things they can come up with. As a side note they will most likely try and blame as many of these stories on the " Vast Rightwing Conspiracy " in order to shift blame from them selves.
This will only help the Republicans in the long run.

Pay-back for the 1984 ad?
Posted by: Zifnab | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 02:30 PM
I really don't, personally, believe that was explicitly sanctioned by Obama. It doesn't fit his style, or what I thought was his style. I believe the Dems are going to run Clinton/Obama and lose to the Republicans unless they nominate Gingrich or Jeb Bush or someone very closely allied with Dubya. If the nominate Guiliani he will win, hands down.
Posted by: nowinger | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 02:35 PM
I seriously have a hard time seeing anyone but the die-hards pulling the (R) lever in '08 without a complete crisis of conscience. I mean, John Kerry, the Frankenstein from Massachuetts, almost took the Presidency after a year's worth of swiftboating, slander, and dirty tricks that he considered himself to far removed to address.
And that was pre-Foley, Walter Reed, 4 more years of Iraq, Gonezo, and the rest. If '06 is any indication, expect another crushing defeat for Republicans.
Posted by: Zifnab | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 03:05 PM
I have very little faith in politicans so that's probably why I view the "1984" ad as coming from Obama's camp directly and due to the Hillaryites slinging around the Madressa story on Obama. It was masterful and probably more true than not.
Posted by: Buzzy | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 03:11 PM
Zif,
I cannot caution you enough against this kind of overly optimistic thinking. George Bush should have lost to John Kerry by a landslide. It was already proven that the invasion was based on false pretenses and our troops were bogged down. Other than invading Iraq and No Child Left Behind, which is a crock, what has Bush accomplished. The country has been very nearly 50/50 in the last 2 presidential elections. The silent majority still doens't trust the Democrats not to go on a liberal, tax raising binge. This shows how successful republican lies have been.
You are underestimating the residual fear Americans have since 9/11. I strongly believe there is a difference in being against the Iraq war, everyone but the hardcorp wingers know this was a tragic mistaken. BUT, Americans are still afraid of terrorists thanks to 5 years of Bush propaganda. They want someone who talks tough against terrorists. All the republicans need to do is move to the center and repudiate the Bush Doctrine and they will get back a huge chunk of people who've given up on Bush. Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe the Dems are over confident, maybe disastrously so.
Posted by: nowinger | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 03:15 PM
I have to say that nonwinger is right about alot of what he saya in his last comment. Though I don't think that the average American's distrust of Democrats can be entirely blamed on the "Vast Rightwing Conspiracy" (get used to hearing that folks it will make a comeback). The Dems have done alot all by themselves to put that image into everyones head.
Lets look at how most people view politicians. When asked most people will say they are all corrupt. Republicans tend to be more honest about the fact that they are going to hose you . When I say honest I mean that when asked about it they just stare at you like your an idiot for even having to ask. We all know this. We also all know that when asked the same question the Democrat will go off on a ten minute tirade about how this will help the poor, environment etc...
Posted by: southdakotaboy | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 03:32 PM
Did it ever occur to you, maybe that Democrat really wants to help the poor and the enviroment [while admittedly at the same time helping himself to the same stuff his Republican colleagues do?
Posted by: nowinger | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 03:44 PM
Iraq is a Republican war, a Republican defeat and a Republican disgrace. Enough voters will know that by 11/08.
Posted by: Kelvin | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 04:02 PM
Help the poor by getting them hooked on programs that degrade them and sap their selfrespect oh ya that's helping them. Helping the poor by blocking ways for the poor to get their kids out of badly run schools and in to private schools like the Dem poloticians put their kids. I could go on but I've got to go, see ya.

"Enough voters will know that by 11/08."
They knew it in '06. Landslide victory. Democrats took every open seat, flipped a fair number of tough spots blue, and didn't lose a single incumbant - even in New Jersey where any other year I would have happily seen some of those bums hit the curb.
And that was in a "low turn-out" non-Presidential year. Expect to see Dan Riehl cry in 19 months.

Ziffy, you're talking pretty tough for a Party that lost a number of elections before finally winning ONE. But kids are famous for blather and trash talk, so I don't put much stock in what you say, Zif, as you have no experience. You're just too young. It's too early to tell how the next election will play out.
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 13, 2007 at 06:08 PM
Zifnab many of those wins were decided by less than the margin of error. There were several that came down to less than 1,000 votes. If Rudy takes off like its starting to look like, the Dems might have a rather short time in the majority.

--Americans are still afraid of terrorists thanks to 5 years of Bush propaganda.
Nowinger, some of your comments are reasonable, but this one is ridiculous. It illustrates why the dems will, in fact, lose in '08. If you truly believe the terrorist threat is the product of "bush propaganda," you are a) tragically mistaken and b) in the vast minority. Most Americans realize that the threat is real and that the dems are unwilling to protect us.
Yesterday, I attended a conference (as a guest) with over 50 chiefs of police from around the country. Guest speakers included members of interpol and scotland yard. they were sharing their tactics and intelligence regarding al qaida's use of the internet and media. very chilling stuff. If you told these law enforcement professionals that the terrorist threat is all in their minds...that they have been brainwashed by some bush political campaign, they would run you out of the room. That is an ignorant and dangerous position.
By the way, don't you see the parallels between an administration using a war on terror to manipulate the public (as you allege) and a congress rooting for failure in iraq to sway an upcoming election? I, personally, do not believe the former, but I am watching the latter unfold before my eyes. No one in their right mind would choose one of these people to protect us as commander in chief. the dems will lose in '08.

Nowinger,
Second ET's remarks, but this one struck me - '...what has Bush accomplished?" He tried really hard to work on Social Security reform, the tax problem - which he did fix, and he had plans to 'fix' a lot of things. Then 9/11 happened. At every turn, beyond the initial 99% agreement about how to fight those who attacked us, his efforts have been thwarted and undermined by democrats looking to get points if not just plain looking to get Bush. There is no way you can get past the fact that nothing this man does is not shredded and bogged down by those who dissemble under the noble banner of 'we know best for this country'.
How Bush is still standing is beyond me. It makes me mad, but it makes me sad, too. He can't even go out and throw a baseball to open the season because he'll get booed so loudly that it would be shameful. As well, the Secret Service won't let him because of the threat some nut in the crowd might try something. How sad is that?
We need an ally in the ME. We need a base there. How better to protect us and Israel and good Muslims who just want to live a normal life without fear? Good for Bush for seeing that. He didn't start this mess.

Amen, Phoenix.

I feel sad for the Decider. He can't go to a baseball game because the evil-dores will boo him! He should stick to nascar races, the rednecks are the only ones who haven't caught on to the fact that he is a stuttering foor and a disgrace.
PS - The SURGE is WORKING!!!!
Posted by: BobInStamford | Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 09:17 AM
Oh oh. We can't let a hate-filled Boob end these comments. Bush believed, as did Bill Clinton, WHILE HE WAS PRESIDENT and said so, that Saddam had WMD. John Kerry said the same. The intelligence organs of every Western country said the same. Ergo, Bush did not lie. It is only a lie when you say something you know is false. Why (whatever happened to yyy, morphed into nowinner perhaps?) do we have to go over and over the same lame and disproven charges with these wonderful ladies and gentlemen? It seems one would need a John Henry swingin' a nine-pound hammer to drive a railroad spike into their thick skulls before any progress could be made.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 12:31 PM
Phoenix,
Bush had a strong Republican majority in Congress until 2006. Blaming the Democrats for Bush not getting anything accomplished is ridiculous.
Bush's plan to 'fix' social security? Privatize it. Great idea. Americans don't even understand how their 401Ks work, but by all means, lets put the only safety net they have in their own hands to invest. What happens in 20 years or 30 years when we find out all these millions of Amreicans with no investment skills blew their ss investment strategies? The gov. will have to bail them out.
George Bush is a disgrace, he has run every organization he ever managed into the ground, including this country.
His record on the environment makes Ronald Reagan look like a flaming tree hugger. No child left behind is such a failure even the Republicans want to get rid of it. Government expanded under Bush at all levels. Sooner or later someone is going to have to pay for his tax cut and it aint going to be the corporations. Our country and our military is WEAKER than when he took office, despite what you guys want to believe. Our standing in the world is weaker. I truly can't undertand why anyone would defend this moron.
Posted by: nowinger | Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 01:16 PM
ET
I don't believe there is no threat from islamic terrorists, that would be stupid. BUT, I do believe the threat has been greatly exaggerated and the propaganda has created an overwhelming hate of arabs and muslims in this country.
I also believe that 'if you build it they will come' when you devote billions of dollars to anti terrorism, you have to find some terrorists. That's why the gov. keeps wanting to expand their power: they aren't finding the terrorist cells and terrorists they expected because THEY ARENT THERE. The pressure to get results is what has driven DOJ to fudge their terror cases and to prosecute cases that clearly don't meet the evidentiary burden or involve any real terror connections.
I also strongly believe that Bush's approach to islamic terrorists has made us less safe and has created in many cases, like Iraq, the very problem he claims to want to solve. Bush has increased the threat of terror, not decreased it. Along the way he threw my rights as an American citizen in the trash can and made me ashamed of my own country by condoning tactics that belong in the Soviet gulag and the Japanese POW camps, not any kind of American installation for anyone.
Posted by: nowinger | Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 01:23 PM
nowinger writes: " George W. Bush...has run...into the ground...this country." One can only wonder where nowinger lives. Is it New Orleans he sees when he looks out his window? But that was caused by Katrina and is still being fixed. I look out of my window and see a prosperous, free, and moral country, not too far from the one I grew up in. Of course we have our problems. One of them is people like nowinger who willfully, despite all evidence and logic, and with great rage and passion, look out of their windows and see a country destroyed, even with all of its obvious might and power, by someone they say is an incompetent and bumbling fool. To hold this view is to demonstrate willful insanity. is it not. And if the Gallop poll is right, yes, it could be the exception this time, the people of the United States will go out in November and give their votes to the Democrats. The Dems will then have the voluntarily insane as a big part of their constituency. Then we may very well see a country run into the ground.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 02:40 PM
nowinger writes: "...he [Bush] threw my rights into a trash can." He did? Why that is awful. Where is this trash can so we can find it and help get back no's rights for him. Lets see, there is a trash can in my garage. I'll be right back........No. No sign of them there. But wait. I'm not sure which rights nowi means. Free speech? No, can't be that one. Nowi continues to spout the most wretched anti-government trash and seems to be left completely safe. Freedom of association and peaceful protest?. No, if he wanted to he could join the flag-desecrators and anti-semites down at the local "peace" protests. He still has his rights to a free press, although it looks like the Dems are targeting Fox News and talk radio, but that wouldn't trouble nowi none. You know the more I think about it the more I am beginning to suspect nowi is using hyperbole. Hyperbole is just a fancy way of saying exaggerating to pull the wool over our eyes. In short he still has all his rights and is full of crap.
