How Much For That "Nappy Headed Ho?"

As almost everyone is probably aware, radio host Don "I only look dead" Imus is taking flack for a racially insensitive remark: (racially insensitive when uttered by a white person, not a Chris Rock, or whomever else)

NEW YORK -- Radio host Don Imus was set to appear on the Rev. Al Sharpton's show Monday afternoon after Imus' controversial comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

Sharpton began his show by saying Imus' comments were "racist" and "diabolocial." He then replayed the controversial remarks from Imus' radio show, in which Imus referred to members of the mostly black Rutgers team as "nappy-headed hos."

Earlier Monday, on his own show, Imus expanded on his initial apology for his racially charged comments, saying he learned from the controversy.

With Reverend Al homing in on Imus and Jesse Jackson, who knows where the money is, targeting the issue with his Rainbow Coalition (the only rainbow made entirely of green) ... one has to ask, just how much hay can Jesse and Al make off of this nappy headed ho ... incident, anyway?

Meanwhile, the Rev. Jesse Jackson planned a protest in Chicago, and an NAACP official called for the broadcaster's resignation or firing.

As a long time listener to Imus(I cant stand Howard Stern)I know that this kind of racist humor is standard operating procedure on the Imus show. Bernard McQuirk usually is the one to come up with the racist jokes and Imus will go along. Then the voice of reason Charles "Chuck" McCord will chime in with a comment like "Oh you dont really mean that" when Imus or Bernie goes too far. In other words Charles McCord is supposed to be the on air censor who alerts them when to cool it. I wonder where he was that morning? It was surely a stupid racist remark and even if it was meant to be funny it was not. I have stopped watching Imus for the most part because of this juvenile idiotic banter. But yes I think many people probably do watch it and laugh at the racist jokes. And I guess that is a bad thing and needs to change. It just doesnt belong on the air on MSNBC or on radio. Hell I travel to Mexico once or twice a year, can converse in passable Spanish and could not care less if Ziffy has green stripes. I don't agree what Imus said about those women. They are top athletics,with a future in front of them. I Miss Imus in the morning.
I cant believe Hillary is going over to the college to make a speech. For what reason, she has nothing to do with this. Mrs. Imus outshined Hillary a million times over. THese politicians are the biggest hypocrites and shows how they have to beg for votes.
