There is value in dwelling on this so-called manifesto of Cho's. But that value rests in analysis by mental health and security professionals tasked with protecting society from psychotic individuals who, in their madness, seek to do the innocent harm.
NBC pretended to strike a blow against the continuing degradation of our culture when it recently fired talk radio host Don Imus. Airing the ramblings of a madman before professionals have had time to evaluate them, or those impacted the most have had any time to heal, is proof positive that NBC, like most media outlets, couldn't care less about degrading our culture. It is ratings and advertising dollars which they crave the most. Ironically, that very shallowness is one of the things the deranged mass murderer railed against. I suppose even a lunatic can have a point.
Under any other circumstances, airing the taped message of a mentally ill individual would be considered embarrassing and crass, if not a violation of his or her civil rights. Only because Cho murdered dozens of innocents is it allowed to dubiously pass as breaking news. NBC would have been right to air this material exclusively as part of an intelligent discussion of the threat to society from crazed actors, unfortunately, they opted to not do that and made it a side show, instead.
The same uber intellectuals producing generations of young Americans unable, or perhaps unthinking when it comes to protecting themselves would be railing against NBC and defending Cho's privacy were they acting on principle. They may condemn NBC anyway, but their motivation will be more self interest than altruistic in intent.
Instead, we should focus our thoughts, prayers and attention on supporting Cho's tragic victims. In reality, as a part of American society, we are each one of them. You can do that by clicking on the linked text below this image.
Tonight my thoughts and prayers are with this sick bastard's victims, not his incoherent, mind-numbing rants.

I won't give this scum one second of my time. I lost interest as soon as the story became primarily about this lunatic. Thanks for making me feel less guilty about tuning out... at least I'm not the only one.
I am also pretty pissed off that everyone is referring to this asshat with just one name - like he's a freakin rock star. I know it's easier to type three letters than a whole asian name - but I don't want this moron's name become household or otherwise useful to scumbags - like Che. Scary eh, just one letter off - I'm sure the t-shirts are rolling off the line somewhere right now.

Isn't it odd, how this story has somehow frozen our attention?
It reminds me of 9/11.
Imagine how fixed we'll be when something REALLY bad happens.

Title covers everything. No need for more TMI here.
Posted by: chrys | Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 01:42 AM
The candlelight gathering was an opportunity for tv coverage to focus on those murdered and the grieving of students and faculty but coverage was skimpy at best with the usual 'live on the scene' pretty face telling us what we were seeing, being the story instead of getting out of the way and letting the camera show the story.
There is something in the human mind that tries to make sense of the insensible and this urge is important, if only to help be prepared in the future. I think we're probably hard-wired this way as a survival skill, so some gleanings into the mind of this madman are important because of that. And even more important to the mental health and security fields for obvious reasons.
Too bad NBC went for sensationalism.

Any of you patriots mourn these people?

Didn't think so. Car bombs don't kill people, evil-doers kill people.
Surge on!!

Here we are, still trying to discuss a nut fallign from his tree. Wanting to understand, maybe prevent it happening again. Here comes our deluded friend from a small town in Conn, calling names, pushing the war in our face, begging for attention. I challenge you all to read back over BiS and a few other comments on this blog. See if you don't see similarities in thier writings and in the drivel of this murderer........They are unfortunately all around us.

This upsets klansmanbob so much because it takes away rom the lefts attempt to lose the war for the US. It is intolerable to him that the American people care about anything other than what the left tells it to.
If you want to see disgusting watch the view and Rosie she has been relentless in pushing her anti-gun agenda. Its funny how she gets to have guns for protection though.
Posted by: southdakotaboy | Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 08:45 AM
Wow, you watch The View AND Sandra Bullock movies! Shouldn't you be at the salon getting a bikini wax?
Posted by: Kelvin | Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 09:30 AM
Kelvin, Rosie's clips from the view were on either Fox or Glenn Beck last night. She has made four oe five statements calling for gun controle because of what happened at VT.
And as far as watching Sandra Bullock, hey what can I say I think she looks great. You know Kelvin real men aren't afraid to say they like to look at a good looking women.

Some of you may not know this, but Zerodegreeskelvin, BoobinBridgeport, and LOL all grew up together. Unfortunately, their school work suffered a bit because they loved to play games more than do homework. These are some of the games they played together: tag, kick the can, jacks, show me yours, ape and excrescence, tennis, crack up, doctor and doctor, jump rope, vertical smile, all alone my love went riding, checkers, spit in the hole, mumble-dee-peg, in the groove, astronauts and Astroglide, hide and go seek, rub bacon, I've got the shortest, basketball, see my snake, monopoly, telephone, snots and stuff, roll-your-own, flashlight my b--ls, marbles, oatmeal me, red rover red rover let Boob come over, thunder in the bushes, Texas hold 'em, ask and do tell, make it slicker for the love of God, baseball, wind in his pants, and let a smile be your umbrella. But they soon had a falling out over the rules of the game called vaseline in the canyon. And even to this day they are angry about it and can't help but hate and vilify those with whom they disagree.

As for the scumbag Cho, I DON'T GIVE A FUC* ABOUT HIS RANT! It's some little POS who refused to let anyone help him or help himself, then blames everyone for his situation which he created. Just seeing his rant makes me wish I could strangle him. FUC* him! I hope he burns in hell!

It occurs to me that part of the existential blame on this tragedy must go to our 'reality TV/15 minutes of fame' culture. Who is to say that if this nut didn't know that he would be famous that his 'manefesto' would be aired for millions to see, that he would in effect have something in death and destruction he never had in life, attention focused on him, his needs and his feelings, he might never have gone on his bloody rampage.
But I look forward to more blaming of the Koran and muslims for this atrocity.

Isn't there any type of electronic security system that can protect our students? Is it feasible to have one entry point onto a campus with a metal detector, and if the student has no weapons a keycard would be issued which would allow entry into the classroom buildings and dorms?
It's a disgrace that our children and teachers are sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered. I'm glad that I'm retired and don't have to work in any public places, I am frightened everyday for my grandchildren and all the children who attend school in our country.
Posted by: jeena | Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:44 AM
jeena no security system is foolproof. A nut jub with enough time on his hands will find a way in. Public facilities are not like prisons or other highly restricted places they have to let many people in as freely as they can. Can security be better ofcourse but it will never be perfect and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying through thier teeth.

The Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colorado (April 20, 1999)

Go Hokies!
Now you all know that this happened because "God hates fags" according to the WBA--I believe that's the acronym for them. They were planning on protesting at the funerals of the victims because it's our fault there is evil in the world because we accept "fags" and this is why the children and professors at VT were killed. Loverly. Too bad for them that it is illegal for them to do this in VA. WEIRD!
God bless my Hokie family (4 graduates) and God bless the rest of Hokie Nation! Hang tight--you are so loved!
