Brits Were "Tortured"
Just don't expect to hear it called that by the Left - at least not unless Rumsfeld is working for Iran now.
The British service personnel held hostage in Iran said they were blindfolded, bound and threatened with seven years in prison if they didn't admit they had strayed into Iranian waters.

No, no, no, Dan. ONLY evil Reps can torture anyone.
According to lefties those sailors were in Iranian waters and rightfully taken hostage.
It wasn't psychological pressure Dan. You're simply ignorant of the Iranian customs of hospitality.
(yes I'm kidding)

Hope you don't mean a little waterboarding. That isn't torture, according the the vice-decider. Surge on!!
Posted by: BobInStamford | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 05:36 PM
i heard from the attorney general that such treatment did not qualify as torture
Posted by: LOL | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 05:57 PM
they said "we WEREN'T tortured! Those were their exact words. 2 of them said they were treated very HUMANLY! Maybe Mr Bush could learn something from the Iranians.

I hope our interrogators never find out about BrainlessBob. Just think of the torture they could inflict against the enemy by reproducing Bob's posts. OMG, waterboarding is child's play compared to Bobby's rants, and I would prefer the Iron Maiden myself to having to be exposed to Bobby's brainless drivel. Talk about violating the Geneva Convention!
Anyway, torture on, Bobby!
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 06:01 PM
people died in captivity in abu ghraib, but that wasn't torture either
Posted by: LOL | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 06:03 PM
Yeah, les, it's fun to be threatened with death and have automatic weapons racked while you are blindfolded, and I'll bet seven years in an Iranian jail would be comparable to the country club. Man, I'm surprised they didn't all beg to stay.
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 06:05 PM
"Imperialists" don't qualify for sympathy or rights; only revolutionaries, insurgents, mass murderers, Maoists, Marxists, German Nazis, Italian and Spanish Fascists, child molesters, biker gang members... did I miss anyone?
Besides, as I am sure that the left's leading lights will quickly point out, the sailors' story has changed since being released which means that they must be flip-flopping fibbers or that they are now being tortured by British agents of Karl Rove. Either way they certainly should not be trusted over the word of numerous illustrious Iranian officials. Gulf of Tonkin man!! Google it!!

Yeah, Saul, you missed liberal brainless trolls who come here and post on Dan's blog.

It's wingnuts who heart Iranians. Wingnuts thought it was a good idea to invade Iraq, and thus hand the country over to Iran. It was a wingnut president who invited Hakim of the Iranian backed SCIRI to the White House to have a sit down with them. It was wingnuts in the 80's who sold arms to the Iranians.
Wingnuts heart Iranians.
Posted by: mkultra | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 06:39 PM
mkultra, you're going to lose your nutroots credentials. All the nutroots have always said it was wingnuts who supplied Saddam with weapons, it was wingnuts that gave Saddam intelligence information that allowed him to defeat the Iranians, it was wingnuts who made Saddam the man he was.
Now, you have a decision, mkultra, was it wingnuts that helped the Iranians, or was it wingnuts that helped the Iraqis? Man, you're twisting yourself into knots. I'll bet you are in real demand when someone gets out the twister game.

The US supplied Saddam with around $300M worth of stuff grand total, all years included (which ended completely in the last year of the Iran-Iraq war).
The French and Russians supplied him with roughly $5B worth which continued right up until 2003.
Posted by: Purple Avenger | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 07:41 PM
I'd add that lowly Brazil sold Saddam more military hardware than the US ever did.

looks like the iranians sent the brits another easter present:
"Iraqi police confirmed Friday that the roadside bomb which killed four britiah soldiers was an Iranian-made device known as an Explosively Formed Projectile. It is designed not only to penetrate armour but to blast shrapnel inside its target.
Ominously, it was the first time such a bomb had been used against British forces in southern Iraq, although U.S. troops further north have been targeted.
It was remotely triggered by Iranian-backed Shia militants as the British patrol returned to base. Two more such bombs were found hidden in the area yesterday.
The blast came less than 24 hours after Iran's President Ahmadinejad had freed 15 British hostages, cynically describing his propaganda coup as an Easter gift to Britain."

both TK, the US has long fomented instability in the middle east, very machiavellian if you think about it
Posted by: LOL | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 08:12 PM
I tell you, I was in the UK during that whole thing and all Iranian TV seemed to show was footage of the British woman eating and smoking. It looked like it was all she did - 24/7. Maybe they ran out of food and smokes and decided to let her go.
Posted by: BobInStamford | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 08:15 PM
Yes - the anguish on their faces from their ordeal can be clearly seen as they party in this new liveleak video - and make like they're at a hollywood after hours bash.
Simply disgusting. You said it - stick a fork in these sad sacks...

Bob, you actually said something! I'm marking it down on my calendar. This may be the beginning of something fortuitous.
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 08:31 PM
The stupid sons of bitches can only regurgitate what they TV tells their little minds.
So abu-ghraib, necessarily, must be removed from their little feeble brains and replaced with tulips and daisies.
Cuz, they're fucking morons.
Posted by: benrand | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 10:00 PM
also, so sorry, *hate* to interrupt...
but all then brave noble freedom-fighters currently being held/tortured/secretly being killed (just like castro does with HIS prisoners) & then replaced with whiny, fat, complaining replicant lookalikes ("when will the new harry potter book be out?!? allah curse you infidels for making us wait!!") so as to fool the all-wise liberals and their pet media......could you liberal dolts explain for us again what uniforms they were wearing? thus making them part of a recognizable military force protected by treaty & longtime custom?
as opposed to a bunch of gangbangers trying to bus' a cap in somebody's ass and then melt away in tha crowd? who aren't covered by treaty & custom, and are fair game when caught? the cowardly "if we'd fought back, someone might've gotten *hurt*!" brits aren't exactly britain's finest hour, but they WERE in uniform, it's agreed.
the abduls currently in gitmo? not so much, huh.

Yep, that about sums it up, bb.
Posted by: templar knight | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 11:36 PM
What the leftist troll didn't tell you is that all but one of the people that died at abu-Ghraib was killed by other inmates. Ooops.
LOL, we haven't had to forment anything in the ME. The chaos was going strong long before we were involved.
Lastly for all you leftards, the point is that you have an extreme desire to attack America for even alleged prisoner mistreatment regardless of how ridiculous the claims are, vs. how you react to Iran mistreating credible hostages.
Short version: You cowardly, left wing, America hating, terrorist fellating, mental patients give our enemies a pass every time.
Posted by: Hard Right | Friday, April 06, 2007 at 11:39 PM
The double standards of the left are truely amazing.
Thpppppt!
Posted by: southdakotaboy | Saturday, April 07, 2007 at 12:10 AM
I don't know enough to make a case with facts, but it seems to me most of the 'big' countries do all kinds of behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing all the time. Loyalties come and go, enemies become friends. It is Machiavellian. It must drive foreign embassy people nuts trying to keep up with how much security they need or don't need. It's almost like a game of keeping the playground bully at bay with everyone on the teeter-totter trying to keep track of which clique is the popular one.
I read that the Iraq army is now larger than the standing armies of France and the UK combined. That's amazing work on our part.

southdakotaboy, the left only has one standard. Anti American.

Are you serious? How does any of Iran's treatment exceed the treatment that the US has admitted to using? i.e. waterboarding, dogs, threats, etc.
It's surprising to see the wingers, who are so firm about despising the "left's moral equivocation" to decry some relatively minor abuse.
some humorous perspective for you wingers:

As part of the master plan to ensure steady oil supplies right?

Hard right has served his country. He does not need sources. He has the Decider and the Lord on his side. And you are a pinko at the very least for even asking. Hard Right is a hero. Got it??
Posted by: BobInStamford | Saturday, April 07, 2007 at 03:15 PM
"got a source for this hard right? you never seem to"
Sources have a well-known liberal bias. I mean, who are you going to ask about that sort of thing? Prison is full of terr'rists, so they're all untrustworthy. The rank-and-fill soldiers who admit to anything are probably the bad apples that perpetuated the crimes. And the federal government can't speak about anything without letting slip our methods of questioning and leaving the door wide-open for interrogation-proof Al Qaida agents. Is that what America wants? Terrorists who are completely immune to all forms of interogation? Cause that's what you'll get.
Besides, threatening people with jail time is waaaaaaay more harmful to good, white, innocent British sailors than electrocuting a Muslim's testicles. Muslims don't even have testicles, cause they're cowardly terrorists. That's another thing the liberal media will never attest to.

Dan, Dan, Dan.
You make me laugh, you're a funny guy.
If it wasn't for you, I'd have to invent an idiot who doesn't get the point and have him spout brainless nonsense like this.
After all, this kind of idiocy doesn't write itself.

once again Dan, RIEHL STUPID.
I guess you like to feel morally equivalent to the Iranians whom you despise!
Nyah-nyah - oh look! see! they torture! so it's totally alright for us to violate the geneva conventions and torture as well!
what a maroon.
do you even know what abu ghraib was?
