This can't be an April Fool's joke, not from the AP:
AP Exclusive: Kissinger says military victory not possible in Iraq
The Associated Press Published: April 1, 2007TOKYO: Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who helped engineer the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam, said Sunday the problems in Iraq are more complex than that conflict, and military victory is no longer possible.
Forget that it isn't an exclusive, it isn't even news. I knew I remembered the headline from the Washington Post - basically the same Kissinger story from November of 2006. When the AP has to resort to running non-news and non-exclusives billed as such to undermine the war, I guess the real news out of Iraq just isn't bad enough for the AP.
Kissinger: Iraq Military Win Impossible
By TARIQ PANJA
The Associated Press
Monday, November 20, 2006; 12:44 AMLONDON -- Military victory is no longer possible in Iraq, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said in a television interview broadcast Sunday.
Kissinger presented a bleak vision of Iraq, saying the U.S. government must enter into dialogue with Iraq's regional neighbors _ including Iran _ if progress is to be made in the region.

Actually, the real joke is your 'president' and the way that he ran his failed war in Iraq. Iraq has been unwinnable for years.
Posted by: Victor | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 04:23 PM
The other real joke is that even a bloodthirsty nut like Kissinger thinks this war is pointless. Speaking of, what are we trying to accomplish exactly?
Posted by: scarshapedstar | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 04:38 PM
The liberal media has failed us again! Man, the AP must really have egg on its face today. They just said that Kissenger thought Iraq was unwinnable when Kissenger ALREADY thought Iraq was unwinnable months ago! Haha! What a stupid fuckup, eh?

I mean, I look to you for the hot tips on racism, seeing as how you are a blatant, seething, festering racist, so how do you handle getting yer latest talking points from one of those filthy, 3rd world ZIONIST Jooooo-people?
Posted by: vetter | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 04:45 PM
and this would be the same kissinger who presided over our craven & dishonorable "run away!" stratgey from vietnam? the same kissinger who squealed, "no! that'll just piss them off!" when reagan initiated the actions that would result in the fall of the ussr within 8 years; after that same kissinger had droned on interminably about how "tough them russians were"?
THAT kissinger? the one that democrats all tell us is so smart?? HIM??
yeah, if HE says something, we should SURE listen to such a distinguished loser. not.

A guy who calls himself 'bloodrage bob' is talking about 'liberal pussies'. Oh man, this guy is the angry loser that sites like this are famous for. No doubt he styles himself as a manly renaissance man. Please, continue.

But Ziffy, you're a homophobic racist so I really don't give a shit what you "think" about anything.
Posted by: vetter | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 05:00 PM
I knew it, Kissenger is now a traitor, he's practically a Democrat. Wingers, you have forgotten that it wasn't too long ago that Henry Kissenger and Dick Cheney were lovey dovey, meeting regularly. When he says something wingers don't like, they turn on him and call him names. You wingers are never goign to live down this legacy.

Time will tell if AP is correct.
But at the moment I'll go with the AP story.

Haven't seen too many updates on the all-important surge. After all, a few more troops after 4 years is clearly going to make the difference!

Wow, thank goodness for that surge!!!

My goodness, Dan, but you do seem to have a lot of people here who like to post offensive comments. Such a shame. It'd be nice to have a pointed but polite discussion of the important issues of the day.
For instance, I myself have little truck w Bush. He's waaay to much like a socialist/Democrat for my tastes. But he's the only game in town, if we want to do anything at all about those Muslims who take the Koran seriously enough to want to kill infidels qua infidels (henceforth known as mwttksetwtkiqi). Whether he lied, was fooled, was right, etc, about toppling Saddam and trying to set up some form of representative gov't, I don't care, I'm just glad we're there. After all, of all the places that harbored and/or supported mwttksetwtkiqi, Iraq was a logical place to go if you only wanted to go one place first off and try to be nice about it. After all, the leader was a homicidal maniac whose own people wouldn't miss him, and the place was nicely softened up and mostly desert. Sure, I might have wanted to go straight for the throat and take out Riyadh, but I'll take what I can get. At least now, if the man in the tall hat bends over NYC, our flyboys won't have to use the Kitty Hawk when they retaliate; they'll have Baghdad Int'l, convenient, and centrally located, whether you want to go to Tehran or Damascus. Or Riyadh, whatever.
O for the days when we had statesmen for leaders, not politicians. We don't have a democracy, nor were we ever supposed to have one, for good reason. We were set up as a republic. The people were to have indirect control, because the Founders knew that there would be times that leaders would have to do unpopular things, with a buffer between them and the direct control of the people, to allow for time for the people to play catch up. Maybe they never do. It is the fatal flaw of any system that has any democratic aspect to it: eventually the majority will vote to do away with the controls that keep them from oppressing the minority. They will eventually refuse to do the tough things needed for posterity's sake, and will spend their grandchildren's inheritance on a mess of pottage. Will we wake up even if the man in the tall hat takes out a major US city? We'll probably get to find out, won't we...

"Will we wake up even if the man in the tall hat takes out a major US city? We'll probably get to find out, won't we..."
We can only hope!!! I wake every morning with a prayer for civil war, I fear that when it finally comes I will be too old to enjoy it.

Seeing as how an entire generation of diplomats, including Mr. Kissinger, have never bothered to address the problems and, in fact, are a major cause of them, how does he get so enlightened that someone actually trying to address them is doing so in the wrong way? If he was so smart, then why did he let so much go that could have been addressed when he walked in the halls of power?
That's right, he is a 'Realist'... with no grasp of the real world. It is their solutions that are *now* the problem: http://ajacksonian.blogspot.com/2006/11/end-of-unreal-realists.html

"This site is toast".
Hahaha! Why don't you tell us about all your accomplishments, Ziffy? Besides posting here all day, which is Dan's site, which gives him more readers, which helps him with his numbers. You're a real genius, genius.
Posted by: templar knight | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 08:56 PM
How can adults smart enough to use the internet really think these comments count as discourse and debate?
How do some of you not read your own words later and become ashamed at how idiotic and childish you are?
Posted by: JimK | Monday, April 02, 2007 at 09:33 PM
I miss the lib droning. Wasn't al-AP the one who invented Jamil Hussein? Those guys who got burned alive to a crisp? Yeah, AP was just missing Joan of Arc being a Muslim claiming that Iraq should be given back to Hussein or Obama, uh Osama.
The AP makes up stories.

Wasn't this the town that the cowardly male cheerleader kept using as an example of success in Iraq?

How about tomorrows headline that Hillary supports US actions in Iraq and we'll leave the part about that being in 2002 in small print. According to the liberal media it's fair play to rehash old news and act like it's fresh.

With all the Republican supporters running around why is the US Army sending troops back to Iraq with out the porper rest or equipment. "AGAIN"

Buzzy, you're too optimistic about lungx. Would never pass the physical. Nor the mentals for that matter. Good thing they have the BoobinBridgeport. He probably has a silver star at least.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Tuesday, April 03, 2007 at 09:53 AM
Langx, they can't go to Iraq because they have to keep cleaning their guns at home so they can go on liberal shooting sprees when they lose the Presidency in '08. Because we have to destroy America in order to save it.
Posted by: Zifnab | Tuesday, April 03, 2007 at 09:57 AM
Ziffy, you must love the taste of vomit. And one should keep his guns clean. A man who doesn't take care of his possessions is unworthy to own them. Liberal shooting sprees? Please Zif, you give yourself WAY too much credit.
